Xtrain Legs

Agreed Justine. Sliding and gliding lunges, in all directions, are tougher than just doing clock lunges with weights. Perhaps because they are more of a stability challenge and also, there is the possibility of going even lower into the lunge. They made me do these in runners physiotherapy too!

What other people find works for legs makes interesting reading!
I always thought I had really strong legs - until I was humbled by Turbo Barre. And anything with low end lunges still kills me. Slide and Glide is another one - really 'gets' my inner thigh. Weirdly, I find the heavier LB weights workouts much, much easier.

I feel the same way! Until I discovered Cathe I had never done barre or floor work. I did lots of lunges and squats and deadlifts and thought I was pretty strong. I have never hit failure as often as I have with some of her barre and floor work! It is murder! But thanks to Cathe I have built up a lot of endurance.

I'm going to have to pull out XTrain Legs again. The last time I did it, I enjoyed it but as others said, it didn't seem difficult enough. I think my expectations going into it were off.

I have to agree that I'm finding barre and workouts like LL&A and GG more effective for me, particularly when I combine them with plyo/cardio-leg strength workouts. I've gotten really strong and the muscles in my legs are bigger/more defined than when I did STS Squat Rack or SH Legs.

Not to hijack this thread but I recently rediscovered the floorwork on Great Weighted Workout (Karen V.). WOW. I don't use the "genie ball," just ankle weights. This is a classic that stands the test of time.

I have that one on VHS. I may have to check it out.

Be prepared to suffer. My legs are strong and I had to take breaks, even during the quad focused segment. You can hear the castmates groaning at various points, but KV keeps going, like she's not feeling a thing, the minx.

I love the guys in the workout, too. Those outfits are a hoot!
