Morning to all the X'ers!
1st question of the day is to Steph.... How does it feel waking up your first morning knowing you are one of the elite few who complete the X???? Happy Dance Day!

2nd tidbit of day: Roadtrip- As much as I would love to go if any X'er were attending - Dhs business is a bit unstable last few months and possible company split will occur which means buckling down of finances. I have to opt out of this one but if any Xer goes PLEASE take pics of the gang in attendance and post so I can print and hang next to Cathe calendar!!!! I would so love to be with you guys- :-(

3rd tidbit of day: I did my workout at 6pm last night after a much needed nap! Barry Bootcamp Arms & Abs + Cardio.... I am biting my tongue this morning as I promised myself I would not get you all hyped up & excited about purchasing! I am leaving all the detials to Laurie - all I can say is that the next 12 days will probably take me to a new level in fitness if I can survive! I have my pride & joy workouts now... X & BBC are it for me as far as strength training. Different enough in techniques to bring on muscle confusion and similar enough in instructor style (although Barry doesnt teach all of them) that the workout flys by. What the ab work lacked in duration was made up for in intensity (that I'm feeling this morning) & with all my kickboxing its plenty of ab work for me. As Laurie told you the cardio is like 20 minutes of Plyo X but on steroids! I had to modify more than half the moves and never made it to the 1 minute mark on anything. (Did I say I was biting my tongue? - Guess I let some of it slip thru!)}( }( }( }( :7 :7 :7
Today is going to be Butt & Legs- I'll also be doing Cardio... If its the same cardio as last night on this DVD I will do something different like StrikeZone just for some leg relief. Looking forward to Lauries review of Buts & Legs.

:7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 Its PERSONALS TIME!!!!! :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7

Debra:: WELCOME HOME!!!!! I cant believe you did PUB last night! What a woman!!! I am so happy you had a great mini vacation! Do you have new pics of DD? I bet she loves her realtives that shower her with all that attention! As far as DH visit... {{{{{{{family}}}}}} I hope the visit helps to heal challenges & that whatever happens brings you and DH peace. Turmoil in marriage is so darn difficult on everyone but your living situation can make it even more challenging. I'll be sending healing thoughts your way my friend. Check in when/if you can.

Jeanette:: WooHoo - our jeanetteX IS mortal like me!!!! I was beginning to wonder if you were next generation Bionic Woman! (I LOVED that show!) Hilights, shopping, what does CHILL OUT mean to you? Painting just 1 room I suppose? I still bow before my bionic friend!

TRACY:: Your roadtrip sounds like a blast! Any excuse to go to Florida sounds like a winner to me. I so love that part of the country (Key West- Jimmy Buffett!) ;-) Safe Safe travels!!!

Monica:: Well that was a quickie post! LOL.... see above about roadtrip. Miss you around here. Hows your post X rotation going?

SANDRA:: Lea:: Laurie:: Happy Wednesday!!!! I'm gonna make you guys go read yesterday for your personals! - Dont worry- it counts as warm up!!! }( }( }(

Time for more java ladies!!!

Hey gang- Quick FYI
I just heard from Lea and its going to be a rough day for her. Her 12 year old cat (since her single days) is very very sick and some tough decisions have to be made soon. We may not see her around today but thought we could all send good thoughts and prayers.
Thanks guys

Good morning,

Lea, big hugs to you today. Think we all know how tough it is with sick animals. I'll be praying for you and your cat.

My workout today was Slim Series Tear It Up. This one has cardio interspersed, but not heart thumping at all. It's a real burner, even using 5# weights. I have my hair appointment after work and then off to Reno to spend the night with son and his girlfriend. In the morning, she and I will go furniture shopping for my living room. Should be lots of fun! Won't be able to check in in the morning.

Traci, WOW, Barry's Bootcamp cardio sounds tough! So happy you enjoyed it. Something to work up to also. Do you think this one could be mixed with P90X for more variety in a rotation? Don't be in awe of me, my workouts are pretty wimpy compared to everyone else's on here. I'm just going thru the lazy's. I'm liking Slim Series okay still and seeing muscle definition. Next couple weeks will be the test. Eating clean is a biggie too.

Will check back later,

Jeanette

Good morning (Traci, stay upright! It's 7:07am here).

TraciX - when did you put up a picturetrail? The dogs are beautiful. Is it normal for dogs to eat bananas? The one with the dog in a haystack (?) is beautiful. The Bay looks like a really nice place to be! I got my new videos yesterday and stayed up way too late last night previewing them. Amy's APX is 2 hours long!!!! Holy crap! And she uses more equipment than my local fitness store even carries! What are those coaster things she uses in the ab routine? I like the variety of moves she uses in that workout. I will never use it as-produced, but the 3-day split premixes might be good. Incidentally, what's with standing on the step when doing the barbell deadlifts? She never goes down far enough to go below the step height, like Cathe does in GS Legs. You could easily do those standing on the floor, couldn't you? I can see myself using the Saffel StrikeZone when I want a 30 minute cardio. I didn't like the looks of the Target Training. It's nice to have good, short cardio alternatives, though. She's very fluid in the upper body, compared to other KB instructors.

LeaX - oooooh, I'm so sorry about DK. ((((((hugs)))))) I lost both my cats within the last couple of years, and making those decisions is rough. Take care!

MonicaX - I played with the idea of going on the road trip yesterday. I checked out flights and added up costs. It would cost me $1500 for, essentially, 4 workouts with Cathe personally, and some socialization for a couple of evenings. Too much!! If I lived within driving distance, I'd go in a heartbeat.

JeanetteX - I'm so glad your day went well yesterday! Here's hoping you see another one like it. Oh, and "a couple of months after DH and I were married.....I had to yell for the kids to...."??????? I know it's early, but not that early! What's the scoop? :) :)

TracyX - So your dad's the homebody, and your mother's the traveller? How long will your mother stay in Florida without him? Just curious - will you attempt to do some activity on the trip, like running?

DebraX - I sincerely hope you and DH are able to work things out. It must be extremely difficult when you are so far apart. Great job on PUB last night!!!

We decided yesterday that we will very likely be flying to Ontario in early May for a week (family visits). So now I'm very motivated to get rid of my pot belly and pump it up. On April 1 I just might join TraciX by doing Phase III of the X. I'm thinking I'll do the upper body strength work and sub the cardios for whatever I want. And I'm also going to restart journaling my eating, and try to keep my calories to 1500-1800/day.

Okay, time to go. Have a great day! I'm going to KickMax it during DD's nap. I did some writing this morning.

Cheers,
Sandra

Morning Xers,

Today will be Barry's Shoulders and Back plus the cardio. Yesterday I did the Legs & Butt and the treadmill. I will be doing the cardio of this one next week. I am alternating between cardio and treadmill. My legs are really feeling it today. I have done the cardio of S&B before, and if I remember correctly that one isn't as intense as Arms & Abs. Here is a breakdown of Legs & butt. I have done this one before.

Warm-Up was lunges off the step. They had the step set at 12”,I set mine at 10.

Front Lunges Right & Left with weight
Reverse lunges with back foot on step no weight
Straddle step and do squats with weights
Straddle step and do plie squats with weights
Kneel on step (with pad-these could also be done on the floor). You do these exercises first on the right and then the left.
Donkey Kicks
Side Leg Raises
Side Leg Kicks
Then you go into power squats. You go from a squat position with feet shoulder length apart, and then move to feet together in squat. Then jumping jacks. Repeat the squat/jumping jacks. Then you do some stretches.

I absolutely loved the TM workout. You started out with your warm up, then ran for 7 min. increasing your speed .5 every 90 seconds. Then you rested and put your incline up to 15%, mine only goes up to 12%. You go down to about 2.5 and then run sideways for 90 seconds on each side. This really works your calf muscles and takes a little while to get used to. After that you ran for another 7 min again increasing your speed by .5 every 60 seconds. Then you brought it down again and went into sprints. 30 seconds at the fastest seed you can go. Which for me was 8.0 and then 30 second walking pace. We did this 2 times and then the last sprint was for 50 seconds.

Traci, I'm so glad you enjoyed the workouts. I am always afraid that a workout that I like, someone else may think it is not for them.

Monica, No I won't be going on the road trip. Our Renn Faire runs every weekend during the summer, and this is DH first year as Director. Like to be there for moral support for him.

Debra, Welcome home, and know that we are here for you. I don't know how anyone can say that marriage is an easy undertaking. It takes lots of hard work.

Sandra, Kickball is just like baseball or softball. Instead of a bat and ball you use a rubber ball. The "pitcher" rolls the ball to home plate, and the kicker kicks the ball. As an outfielder you can get the person out by hitting them with the ball or touching the base. I just remember as a child, not being able to kick very well. But now that I have "legs of steel", maybe it won't be all that horrible.

Lea, sending you some good vibes. And knowing what you are going through.

Steph, Almost forgot to say Congrats on finishing the X!

Have a great day!

Laurie

Good morning Xers!

Hope you are all well and completing your workouts in record time and with record strength gains today! I am planning on doing LM with Kari Anderson abs this morning....My ab DVD is already in the player...so I am ready to go. My handyman is on the way over...so I'm going to wait until he gets done to start.

Lea....Sending healing vibes to your kitty...So sorry to hear she is not well. It's so hard when your pets get old and sick...Please know that I am here for you if you need anything.

Traci...Hello, you crazy woman...Glad you are enjoying your Barry Bootcamp! I have to figure out how to load my pics onto the computer so I can have a picture trail for you guys....but I am such a computer moron! DD was very spoiled by my mom...but that's how it goes when you're 6. She was happy to be at school today, though, and got all kinds of hugs and kisses from her friends.

Laurie...Thanks for the Barry reviews...Sounds like you are really enjoying these! I know you guys are in Wisconson...but what part of the state is your Faire in? And when does it start? My DD would love to see that! I am hoping to get moved down South before the summer, but if not, maybe DD and I will come up!

Jeanette...Have a great time today and tomorrow...Sounds like fun! I always like to get my hair done...it always feels so soft after I go to the salon. Have a good time with your son...And of course, shopping for furniture...My favorite thing!

Sandra...I can't imagine that you even have a pot belly, you silly woman! But I am sure that Traci will be glad to have you Xing with her. Have fun with KM today...and I hope you get lots of work done during DD's nap.

I'm sure everyone else posted while I typed along so I will bbl to catch up a bit...Gotta fold the laundry and hopefully my handyman will be here soon...Glad to be back..I missed you guys!

Debra

JeanetteX:::
My gosh I can’t do all of the Slim Series with 6# (don’t have 5) so I always have to drop to 3’s! Can’t believe the # of reps in those!!! I definitely see Barrys BootCamp as my alternate X weeks as well as possible subs for boredom during X phases. The only thing with BBC is that his “breaks” aren’t filmed so you do need to pause if ya feel the need. The only reason I didn’t is because I wanted to do them as produced first to get a feel. The Arms & Abs comes in at 30 minutes so the pace is explosive and the Cardio Intervals on that DVD are 22 minutes non stop. You could easily take the necessary breaks to lift heavier. I used my 12’s for about 30 seconds then 9…then 8…. By the end I had to go to 3’s on the triceps. My biceps & triceps (that’s all in Arms) are really sore today.

SandraX:::
I snuck that picture trail on this morning! Good catch so early!! Took me an hour to get the darn thing figured out. LOL on bananas… my boys (the 2 golden retrievers) love fruit! My girl only eats it to impress her big brothers! ROFL about Amy’s equipment! I KNOW!!! It’s a hoot working out with her as long as you know what you’re in for! The 3-day splits are worth the price of DVDs I think… Try combing the 3-day splits with CTX Upper – yeah, now were talking burn. She uses discs- you can use paper plates or go without. The slickness that paper plates added was too much for me and I kept tweaking my shoulders so I go without. I said the same thing on step deadlifts…. I just don’t get up there. I figured she modified the move since going below step is pretty dangerous unless your back is super strong. Sorry you didn’t care for target drills – Those are what remind me so much of Kenpo & KickMax. I don’t use a paddle/partner but with your gloves on and 1-2# ankle weights- OUCHIE! ENJOY all your new toys. We wont see you for days! Pot Belly???? Miss Sandra you FIB!!!!! But I would have THE BEST time doing X if you, me & Lea were all going again!!!

LaurieX:
LOL on the step height! Last night I lowered mine to 6” by end of the spasmodic cardio! My TM is in a different room than my DVD player… I can try them in my computer but it doesn’t usually play DVDs… Guess I need a dvd in yet another room of house???? Enjoy todays workout! Looking forward to reviews.

DebraX:
You are well back into your groove woman! LOL on pic trails… took me a very long time to get it all figured out this morning! Enjoy the handyman!!!}(

Off to workout!

Hola! Back again!

KickMax is done. I had good energy for this workout today - finally! I haven't done those leg conditioning drills since before the X, and I could tell. I should probably do those more regularly.

TraciX - Watching a workout is very different than actually doing it, so I may find the Target Drills aren't as dull as they appear to be. I liked the looks of the Sculpting Drills at the end, and it may be worth my while to alternate those with the KickMax ones. I'll probably be trying Janis's workout next week. Paper plates, huh? I wonder how well they'll slide across my exercise mats? You make a good point about being able to control them; you don't want to slip, slide, and pull something!! It might be best to do those with the stability ball, like Cathe does. I'm thinking of only doing one phase of the X, not the whole 90 days. Just enough to buff myself up. Do you think that would work? 4 weeks of the strength training, with Cathe cardio subbed for the P90X cardio I'm tired of? When will we see pics of Mama-Traci on that picture trail?

LaurieX - Kickball sounds like a lot of fun! And I'll bet you're in better shape than most of the people you'll be playing with.

DebraX - I completely understood what you were trying to tell me yesterday, about doubling up segments of various total body workouts to hit each muscle group harder. Cathe did that herself in one of her older strength rotations. At the time I thought she was nuts. Now I understand why! Thank you for the suggestion. Wicked TraciX, above, has recommended I do this with Amy Bento's All Pump Extreme, and Cathe's CTX. Whatever :) :) :) :)

You all don't believe me about the pot belly? I should take a photo. I had black bean soup for lunch yesterday - 13g of fiber in a one-cupish serving! I looked like I'd swallowed a pumpkin by dinner time. The sad thing is, although I've deflated a bit today, I do seem to have more around the middle than I've had in a long time. Very frustrating.

Yesterday was the first day of spring!!!!! It snowed here :p I hope you saw a tulip poke through the ground.

Cheers,
SandraX

Hi all,

Today was MM upper body only and abs. I can actually say that I got a pretty good pump, but I think that was mostly because I worked upper body pretty hard on Monday. I was going to add more pushups, but decided that I’d leave those so that maybe I can fit some in while I am gone. No legs again, but the back is starting to loosen up just a bit. Still a ways to go; boy did I learn my lesson this time!

I’m only probably about 5 hours from Cathe, but I won’t be doing the road trip. I’m not interested in going by myself. It probably would be fun though.

Traci – You are just a bundle of energy and enthusiasm. I wish I had that much energy and could stay so up beat! Your pictures are so cute. We had dogs in our bed when we first got married and then got fleas in the bed and I said, “No more dogs in the bed!” It was disgusting. Several dogs later, they all sleep in dog beds beside me on the floor. Your workouts are looking really intense. I bet you are looking pretty darn fit!

Lea – I’m sorry about your cat. That is the worst thing about having pets. This is awful, but I usually pray that mine die and I don’t have to make the alternate decision. I did it once and it was very difficult.

Sandra – Post x weight work is a challenge isn’t it? I have even contemplated another round of the upper body X, but I think that I’ll stay on this course for now. My mom will stay down there about 2 weeks. I may have to go back early April and ride back with her. They have a nice condo near Daytona Beach. It will be a pleasant trip and she is going to get me some new clothes, which I really need. We haven’t had any extra money lately either and I’m sick of everything that I have to wear.

Jeanette – I hope that you find the perfect furniture. I found furniture shopping to be difficult, but I don’t make purchase decisions well. Finally we found a sofa that would work, but I ended up spending more $$ than I wanted to. It is nice though. I guess everyone has a stove story. It can be a little scary though. I hate it when the house fills up with smoke.

Debra – I sent you a pm. Thanks so much for the dvd. I hope that everything works out to your satisfaction with you and DH. Marriage is not easy; especially when children are involved.

Laurie – Sounds like you are enjoying BBC. Is it worth getting if you don’t have a cardio machine? I probably should have invested in something post x that took the guesswork out of the rotation. It’s hard to design your own.

Steph – I never could understand how anyone could say that plyox was easy. You sure seem to clean more than I do. I always have the snowball thing happen too; that’s one reason why I never get anywhere. I start to pick up, carry something in another room, see something in there, and before you know it I’m off track.

BBL,

Tracy

Hi gang. Thank you all for your kind words. I love you all!!! So, miraculously(sp?), my cat has made a turn for the better after an overnight stay and constant watch today. I told the vet that I absolutely could not afford the overnight again, so she is going to send me home with some fluids to give her for a few days. She is still a little dehydrated and her electrolytes are a little low but getting better. I am also going to learn tonight how to inject insulin in her. Two times a day. I am really going to have to work this out because DH and I have planned lots of trips with the family this year. But I am thankful that my cat is better. I visited her today when I picked up the prescription and she totally hid her head in my chest. She is so ready to come home. Maybe the reason that she got better quicker? Who knows.

So again thank you!!! I am glad that everyone looks like they had a great workout??? I don't know. I am pretty tired. So until tomorrow or when things settle down and I can get back into the workout routine......Caio!!!

Lea

Hey, everyone! Today the whole family got up early to take DS#2 to his Dr. appointment and to do some shopping. Didn't get anything too exciting, but it was fun to eat out and not be in a big rush to get everything done!

It feels so great to wake up and know that I'm a P90X grad! The freedom! In fact, all day long I was mentioning to DH that I was officially a P90X grad! Couldn't let it go for some reason! I guess tomorrow I'm starting Cathe's January rotation, but I can't remember what workout is first.

And I'm definitely getting Barry's Bootcamp now! They sound so great. I mean, on the website, it says it's the "best workout in the world." That's quite a statement! Well, I trust Laurie and Traci, and after reading Laurie's summaries, they look really great!

Lea, I'm so glad your kitty is doing better! Good luck this evening giving it the injections.

Steph(finally!)X

Hi ladies....Just want to say that I should not be here right now...I should be getting reacquainted to my DH...but his plane was diverted due to weather...and after DD and I waited 2 hours at the airport we headed home...DH should be in a couple of hours....I hope!

Let's see...workout went as planned today...I am planning a circuit workout of some sort tomorrow...probably HST or whatever that other high step one of Cathe's is....Feeling nice DOMS today in my chest and bis from PUB yesterday.

Lea...So glad to hear kitty is feeling better! My mom's beloved cat has congestive heart failure right now and everyday is an adventure in her house! Hope you are relaxing and watching "Lost" right now! Did he say submarine?!?

StephX...Keep that feeling of freedom! You deserve it!

Tracy...Sent you a pm...Glad you enjoyed MM today!

Sandra...I looked on your picture trail after your potbelly comment...and I still don't see it! You look great...and your girls are so cute! You should see my tummy at the end of the day...I look like I swallowed a watermelon. You may get some other ideas on doubling up workouts by lookiing for some of FitnessFreak's rotations...she does that in some of hers.

Traci....LOL about the handyman...he was pretty cute though! I had 2 closet doors off their tracks and I have a crack in a sink in the master bath...Nothing exciting going on here! Your pooches are sooooo cute...Got a kick out of seeing them eat the bananas...My doggie will eat anything (like you didn't know that considering bunny poop is a delicacy here). She swoops up tomatoes, grapes and anything else in her path! She has environmental and food allergies...so she doesn't get anything but healthy treats...Her favorite thing right now is dehydrated sweet potatoes...I know, weird..but they are kind of like rawhides for those pups who can't have them.

Laurie...I'm only about an hour and a half away from the WI border...If we are still here by then, we will definitely be up...Would love to meet you and your family in person!

Okay...I am going to run...in wild anticipation that my DH is almost on the ground...DD is sleeping and DH is having to get a cab home...Not quite the homecoming we had planned! I'll be by tomorrow to check in...but may not have time for personals for the next few days...See Ya!

Debra

Ummm.....Debra.....Lost isn't on until 10pm out in California. 15 more minutes and I will be able to find out what the submarine means.....

LOL
