Happy Tuesday gang!

I see Lea & Tracy checked in after me yesterday... I was so happy to see that everyone was OK except for minor ailments.

Lea:: You take good care of that crazy cold! Hope the boys dont catch it - I understand with kids that these things tend to go round and round. Lots of Hot Toddies (or is it Toddy's) today???? However you spell it I know its a warm whiskey thing! :9

Tracy: Email me your address & I'll get that tape out this crazy week- Variety is the key of life! I really want those Gin Millers (Simply Interval & Intense Moves) but I cant find them for under the 19.95 price point and thats really just too much per DVD just to have Plyo Variety. Maybe for Xmas 2007!

Jeanette: Glad you slept well Sunday night- that IS rare for you. Let me know how you like Ripped 1000. If you give it rave reviews I just may pop the dang thing in one of these days.

Sandra, Debra (WELCOME HOME!!!), Laurie, Steph... Have fabulous days!!!

Today is Pilates/Yoga and some kinda kick- Will all be this afternoon as I have a busy day. Will see what the spirit moves me to do later.

Happy Tuesday!:7

Just got an email that I will receive Barrys Bootcamp TODAY! WooHoo!! That lifted my spirits.... OF COURSE I will now re-work my 12 day plan before starting X on april 1st. Its going to be a very good day! I love new workouts!!
:7 :7

Morning Xers,

Today will be Barry's Legs & Butt and I will be doing the treadmill cardio. Ok, I did the BBC Arms & Abs plus the cardio on this workout. This cardio was very intense. I could have kicked myself yesterday, but I didn't have the energy, because I forgot to put my heart rate monitor on. I will start with the arm and ab workout first. No warm up, but I figured that out from the other ones. This one is instructed by Barry himself. At first it seems as if he is yelling at the people, and then as you are working his yelling actually makes you want to continue and not stop. }( Evil man! I will try to remember what the workout consisted of.
Weights
Jumping Jacks
Push-Ups
Tricep Headbangers do the push-ups/triceps two more times
Bicep Curls
Tricep Dips do these two exercises two more times
Bicep 21's
Lying Tricep work
Bicep (can't remember)
Tricep Overhead Press
Abs I'm missing something in here, but needless to say when I looked at my biceps they where bulging and hard as a rock. }(

Cardio (Hope I can remember!) Each of these where 1 min. each.
Fast Feet
Jumping Jacks
Toe Touches off the step (they used 12", I had 10")
Power Scissors (He called them Flunges -fast lunges)
Burpees (jump,squat,push-up,squat repeat 12 times)
Fast Bicycle
Jump on and off step (I jumped up onto the step, but did a step down)
Then we did a sequence of the following: 4 Jumping Jacks, 4 squats, 8 flunges.
Repeat the whole sequence.

The cardio workout was less than 20 min., but even without the HRM on I was huffing and puffing. I had to pause between some of the exercises.

I have a hair appointment today after work, so my workout will start quite a bit later than usual tonight.

Have a question for you ladies, my SIL e-mailed me yesterday and asked if I wanted to play softball and volleyball again this summer. Sure no problem, I love them both. Then moments later she e-mails again and asks if I would rather play kickball and volleyball. I love softball, but I'm so so on kickball. Plus I haven't played kickball since I was in grade school. Do you think kickball would be a good time?

Have a great day!

Laurie

Good morning,

Today's workout was Cardio Fusion (thanks to Sandra), or rather most of it. I only did the first 2 drills from Drill Max and then ended with a stretch for 60 minutes. Very fun and kept my mind occupied. Tonite may do a Cardio Coach workout on the trainer as I'll be missing our usual Thursday night hill climb ride. Will be taking Thursday and Friday off this week to do some shopping in Reno, also look for a woodstove to buy. It's going to be a busy 3 days at work. Yesterday was crazy and I think today will be the same, if not worse.

Traci, ooooh Barry's Bootcamp arriving today! Girl, you'll be jumping and sweating here real soon I think. Gosh, it looks like it may be pretty intense but fun. The fact that it is 1 minute for each exercise appeals to me. I like to know that there is an end to the intensity, not just going on and on. I'm sure you'll keep us posted on with your reviews. We live vicariously thru you, you know that, don't you?

Laurie, sounds like Barry's is a good one for sure. Let us know how the Legs and Butt is. Re: your summer sports, is it like league play? I am a volleyball fan for sure. I used to love, love, love playing it during my Jr. College years (2) and I was a setter on the team (at 5'2" what else would you do?) Kickball, yep, that goes back to grade school for me too. Didn't know adults played that one. At least you wouldn't have to remember to bring a glove. Guess you would kick a red rubber ball? Sounds fun though.

BBL,

Jeanette

Hi!

Haven't done my workout yet today (MuscleMax). Got up at 5am, decided to do some writing instead. Then, as I was putting DD#2 in her high chair for breakfast, I noticed a spot on the kitchen floor that needed wiping. So I figured I'd "quickly" give the floors a spray 'n polish. Well, one hour later all the hardwood has been cleaned, but now I'm keenly aware of the fact that most of my walls and baseboards could use a good wash, from the 1 1/2 foot mark on down (yes, that's DD#2's hand height!). I'm resisting doing that, but it made me realize another reason why I hate cleaning even a little bit: it has a snowball effect. A 10 minute job becomes a 3 hour job, and I just end up more aware of what still needs to be done, then if I'd ignored it all in the first place. Anyway, enough about me.

JeanetteX - so, how did you like CF? Did it feel as intense for you as it did for me yesterday? Mind you, I'd done CF a couple of times before starting P90X, and didn't find it quite as hard as I did yesterday, so I think my sodium-soaked muscles and brain might have been to blame. Thank you for everything you said yesterday about your mother and sisters. It was quite comforting to read, although I'm sorry you feel the way you do some times. I don't have any sisters, so at least I don't have that kind of "competition" to deal with. You come from a large family! Wow! Was that nice?

TraciX - Have fun with your new kickboxing workouts! Do I take it that Barry's Bootcamp is a series, and not just a single workout? Is there a suggested rotation, or just a do-as-you-please approach? Yes, the cardio in HSTA is pretty intense! I was rather surprised by your plan yesterday, and am glad to see you're as mortal as the rest of us! Sounds like you had an intense cardio day yesterday. LOL about the eyebrows and head tilting! You crack me up!

LeaX - Get better soon. Head colds are nasty. Can you take cold medication? I love cold medication. Makes me feel really good!

LaurieX - What is kickball? I've never heard of it. You don't mean soccer, do you?

TracyX - Thank you, too, for your words about your mother. The advantage for me is that I live across the country from my parents, so I rarely have to worry about her making comments. But it's amazing how we internalize their judgment! I'm much too hard on myself, and place too many expectations on myself. Are you seriously thinking about another round of the X? Did you find your back could handle the X? PUB with pull/push ups inserted would be a terrific workout. Nice job! I would think, even, that just doing the up-only premix, and adding a round of pull or push ups at the top of each pyramid (instead of going back down) would be very effective, and less time-consuming. Hmmm. I'm going to make a note of that. Going to Florida this weekend? Which part? Business or pleasure?

Have a great day,
SandraX

Hey, gals! Last night I did Plyometrics and lived to tell about it. It amazes me that someone on the OD forum felt that this was too easy! Personally, I think it’s tough even by Cathe standards. I like it, though, because it’s very athletic and not too dancy.

Yes, today is GRADUATION DAY! I only have to do yoga and then I’ll have officially completed P90X, something I thought would never happen. I am so thankful that you all have stuck by me, even though many of you finished weeks (or months) ago. I probably would have quit if it weren’t for your supportive thoughts and comments.

As far as post-P90X, I am afraid. I’m so afraid I’ll lose all of this muscle definition and core strength. I don’t have a 6 pack or anything, but they are solid and strong. I can do so many things I couldn’t do before, especially push-ups. I plan on using different workouts from P90X from time to time which will hopefully help. ARX is so effective, but I’ll have to put it away for a VERY LONG time before I’ll be able to do it again. (boredom factor)

Next, I think I’m going to do Cathe’s January rotation which said it would build muscle while keeping you lean. That’s kind of the path I want to keep pursuing. I don’t think I’ll have a problem doing a four week rotation.

TraciX - How exciting - getting Barry’s Bootcamp today! Are you going to do what I do and spend the day previewing all the workouts? I know, it’s sad that that’s what I consider fun! I’m getting the Mark Blanchard Progressive Power Yoga soon, too. I ordered it yesterday from Collage and they are very fast shippers.

LaurieX - OMG, OMG, OMG!!! I’m SOOOO getting Barry’s Bootcamp after reading your summary of the Arms and Abs. I sounds like this is something I could really use to help me post-P90X. The cardio sounds intense, but varied (I need variety) and the weight section looks great. (Although I hate triceps dips) How do you find the instructors? I really, really, really LOVE Tony, and I have to like an instructor to get into the workout. I’ll have to wait until next month to get it, though, since DH birthday is this month and my workout money will have to go to a birthday present. I HOPE these men realize the sacrifices we make for them! (LOL)

JeanetteX - Cardio Fusion and then Cardio Coach? Wow, you’re feeling good today! I’ll bet you’re so looking forward to taking two days off to go shopping. Good luck finding your woodstove. I knew you were looking for one, but I didn’t realize you were STILL looking for one. I agree with you about the one minute exercises on Barry’s Bootcamp. Another reason I really want to get it. Are you thinking of purchasing it?

SandraX - I had to LOL about your “snowball” housecleaning. That’s exactly the way I do it! Yesteray, my bedroom was a prime example. I was just going to wash the sheets and make the bed, but then I needed to pick up clothes, and then I realized I needed to dust the dressers, then before you know it, I was in the closet going through clothes I don’t wear anymore and making a pile to sell on a garage sale. Enjoy MM today! It’s another of my favorites!

Hope everyone has a great day! I’ll check back later to see what’s going on!

Steph (almost)X

Hey ya girls! How's it going? Still have that cold, but trying to kind of take it easy, which means, yes, no workout today;( . Been drinking lots and lots of herbal tea and taking some herbs, so I cross my fingers now.

Since I have been kind of down, I have been studying up on how to make my house more "green". So I have been making my own cleaners since yesterday, and I have to say that it actually works better than store bought without the smelly headache. And I have been trying out white vinegar as fabric softener and it works wonderful!! So that is my fun. Cleaning and mixing. I know you are all jealous.

Oh yeah, I have booked my retreat week and it is in May. I am very very excited.

I enjoyed reading all of your posts today. You are all workout queens in my book. And I promise promise promise to order the shirts very very soon. But right now both of my kids aren't feeling their best, cat has been throwing up all over the place and been sick for about 2 days now(may need a vet visit), so it's been a little on the rough side over here.

I will try to catch up with you all later. And I have to say CONGRATS and ^^^^555555's to Miss Steph X. Woo hoo!!!! You rock.

I miss you all dearly.

Until later gals,
Lea

YAY!!! StephanieX!!!!!! Congratulations!!

The post-P90X time is tough! I just finished Muscle Max, and thought it felt, well, fine. I don't have that post workout pump I'm used to getting, and so now I feel deprived. Gosh darn it, it's crossing my mind that maybe I WILL join TraciX on April 1!!! I vascilate so much with this stuff that I make myself dizzy.

I'm kind of sad that I don't find total body workouts very worth my time anymore. I actually enjoy them very much. I also hate to have good-quality workouts sitting unused. How do those of you with the mammoth video libraries (ahem, TraciX...) cope with the guilt of letting a good workout go unused for ages? Mind you, I got great use out of Muscle Max when I was pregnant, and immediately post-partum. So, do I just say, "Cheers, thanks a lot, that was great, now on to something else"?

Obviously having issues to deal with,
SandraX

Sandra,

Very good question about the total body workouts! I wondered the same thing, and also about the circuit workouts. Now that I'm thinking differently about how I want to work out, I don't really know where or when I'll do Muscle Max, which is one of my favorite workouts, or some of my others. I haven't done MM since I started P90X, so I don't know how I'll feel about it. Did you up your weights on it? I'm going to Gym Styles now, but I'd like to know what others think about this, too. I know on those ciruits, I'm thinking I'll probably do the cardio only premixes, so maybe on MM and others, we can do the Upper Body and Lower Body only segments separate? I don't know - just thinking.

Happy Graduation Day to our awesome :7 Stephanie!!!! We are so proud to call you a fellow X'er... Extra ^^^5's because you stuck it out the last few weeks all by your lonesome! I never would have done that! AWESOME!!!!!! Now you can look forward to excitement of doing new things - then freaking out- then missing Tony & Dreya- then planning to do it all again! :7 So have you thought about your "take-aways" from your experience? Will you change how you approach your non X rotations??? You know we are all just dying to know! Since it seems you've decided on Cathes rotation will you still log weights etc..? I'm just full of questions for ya! I did receive Barrys Bootcamp- Dog Tags and all!! FUN! I am thinking of just jumping in without previewing (norm for me)... That means this afternoon will be Arms/Abs/Cardio. EXCITING! Laurie does give awesome desciptions doesnt she?

:7 Sandra::ROFL on the cleaning! I swear thats EXACTLY why I avoid it like the plague! Ya did good this morning Miss Sandra- stand proud! Yes I'm feeling quite mortal this week... Worst round of hormones since I started my new drugs...guess they still have to be adjusted a tad. Barrys bootcamp seems set up pretty close to X. 5 Dvds - each with strength & cardios + abs on two of them. LOL on the mammoth library! I bought all of Cathes stuff within 90 days so needless to say I have yet to do all of them (plus the stuff I bought since!) I guess I look at it like they are not wasted. Everything will eventually have a place in my life. What if I get injured (heaven forbid) and have to start with less intensity? What if my split workouts become so routine that I am at risk of not doing anything? What if I get pregnant thru immaculate conception and have to modify goals??? They will all be used at some point in my long & healthy life I'm sure of it!

:7 Laurie: Thanks for all the great details on barry... I am so excited to workout today! I'll have about 10 days of Barry before X so I should be all buffed up & ready to go dont ya think? :7 On your team sports... Pick whatever is going to be a jolly good time! I have a feeling whatever you choose you'll have a blast! Happy Hair Day!

:7 Lea Lea Lea- you sound in a bit of a funk....I could feel it yesterday but today I know for sure my buddys feeling the effects of March challenges. PM if you want toots.. you know I love chatting it up! You are really ready for that detox weekend arent you? May is right around the corner... I am so excited for you! If I were a millionaire I'd join you (invited or not! :p ) Please tell me about the green cleaners!!!! As far as the fabric softener - do I just pour white vinegar in the beginning of cycle? I'm all about going green! take care today - did ya drink the hot whiskey???? Well OBVIOUSLY NOT or you'd be doing the happy dance!:7 {{{{lea}}}}

Jeanette::: 7 :7 You are just a bundle of energy & strength this week! You and Sandra could do a day of CF and compare Heart Rates! Hope you find that perfect wood stove this weekend!

Gotta get geared up to workout but would rather take a nap! Took 4 hours today to get my car inspection and drivers license renewed... I do think a nap may be in order and I'll do a PM workout....OK thats the plan - I just talked myself into it;-)

Hi all,

Today is a rest day for me. No real fatigue from yesterday's workout. It was fun to do, but I didn't get the pump that I have been getting and I missed that.

I'm going to Florida with my Mom Thursday and I'll return on Sunday. She has a condo down there and my Dad refuses to go. He's so afraid that he is going to miss some yard work up here. So I'm driving down with her and then flying back. It will be a nice change of pace. I probably won't have internet access, but I'll check in tomorrow before I go.

Steph - Congratulations! Now you can start on another rotation!

Traci and Laurie - Now I am starting to want the Barry's more. I'll have to look again. I always say, "Do I really need another workout? Yes!"

Sandra - I hate cleaning too, as I've told Lea before. I'm not even guilty about it anymore. My beef was that when the kids were small, I would spend seemingly hours cleaning somehthing, only to have it a mess within an hour. And you know what? Nobody cares whether the house is perfect or not, at least not at my house. I have better things to do. I have no place in my workout for total body workouts. I don't think that I've ever done SJP as produced.

Jeanette - A new wood stove? I'll be interested to see how much they cost these days. I broke the glass in the door on one of ours last week and there was a full blown fire in it. It was quite the mess. DH had to block up the cracked glass with a steel plate and some bricks. That's when I said no more for that one.

Lea - Sorry you are sick. Partly injured and sick. What else can happen? I do try to limit the cleaners that I use, but I must admit, they make the packaging look so appealing. I pretty much stick with ammonia and a toilet cleaner.

Tracy

Hello there ladies!

I'm back from my jaunt! And I took a 2 hour nap this afternoon to catch up! Should be ready to get back to a semi-regular routine tomorrow...I am still going to try to fit in a workout this evening. My DH is coming home tomorrow afternoon from Russia....He and I have been having a few problems, so this is a very important trip for all of us. We are hoping to patch things up and have some quality time together. He will be here for a week...so I will still be a little out of pocket...but I will stop by to let you know how things are going.

I quickly read through everyone's posts....and it looks like you are all doing well....except for Lea with her cold and injuries.

Congratulations Steph on you major accomplishment! WooHoo! I am so proud of your completion of the X. I feel the same about all the ladies here....everyone is so supportive and it has really helped me to feel accountable for my workouts.

Tracy...Hope you have a great time in Florida! See you when you get back...

I may bbl, but I have to run now to put in another load of laundry and get my DD in the bath...and get the cat fed...and then hopefully get a workout in!

Thanks for thinking of me everyone!

Debra

Hello Ladies! Happy Tuesday evening!

I was just curious if any of you are planning on going on the Cathe roadtrip? It sounds like fund, I would just be afraid not to know anyone.

Monica

Good evening everyone,

Today was a good day at work and the event I thought would be really hectic went off like clockwork, couldn't have been any more perfect. Fingers crossed that tomorrow is the same. I got home tonite and really didn't feel like doing Cardio Coach on the trainer, took a little snooze and when I got up, hung the dining room shade. Now I need to put a valance of some type along the top as the one that was in there doesn't go with the shade. Oh well, I'll be doing some shopping come Thursday! Also get my highlights tomorrow night before heading to Reno so a full day indeed.

Stephanie, congratulations and a great big high 5 to you! You did it, and well, might I add. Curious what you will do after the X. Anyone who can finish P90X is mentally and physically tough, tough, tough! Way to Go! We all knew what you were going thru to finish, no easy feat at all. I'm really proud of you. I've still been doing AbX about once a week and can finish it fine. It's an amazing core workout, isn't it? 3X a week got to be a bit much at the end. Yep, I'm still shopping for the woodstove. There's a nearby village that has stoves and I think I will travel to there on Friday and look. I have a brochure, but just want to drive over there and see. Maybe I'll actually plunk some $$ down. Barry's Bootcamp sounds intriguing. Would it be something to mix and match with P90X for a little more variety while doing a rotation?

Sandra, I admire you getting that housework done. I procrastinate so bad on my floors, heck on any of the housework and it's just DH and I. Cardio Fusion wasn't real tough, though I didn't do all of the Drill Max drills. My recovery time was pretty fast after each blast. It's nice to know that I don't have to kill myself with lots of cardio and still stay in pretty good shape. Maybe it was the sodium in your system. I find PlyoX much, much harder. So you may do an X rotation in April? I'm not there with that thinking just yet. I feel like I'm still kind of on vacation and trying a different approach.

Lea, poor, Lea, you are still sick. This afternoon I was low on energy myself. Hope I'm not going to finally get a cold. I've had a plugged ear for about a month now. It's certainly not fun that you have all the fun, cleaning, icing injuries, cleaning up cat vomit. Seriously, I sure hope things get back to normal for you.

Traci, LOL re: your comment of me being a bundle of energy. If you could see me right now you wouldn't think so. I feel kind of weak and hopefully it's not a cold. Energizer bunny I am not right now. I told myself that maybe on Friday I will ride my bike as I'm off on Thurs. & Friday. Sunday is our club's group ride and it's a bit more difficult than last week's climbing wise. Hope I'm well.

Tracy, oooh a road trip to Florida! Sounds like fun. Hope you have a great time. Woodstoves that we are eyeing are right around the 2 grand mark. If it helps us to burn less wood, it'll be worth it. DH loves to cut wood, but I go to make sure he doesn't fall a tree on himself or cut himself and bleed to death. Less time cutting wood is okay in my book. Broke the glass while you had a fire going in it? A couple months after DH and I were married, he left to go deer hunting. He made a nice fire, but had neglected to bolt the stovepipe pieces together (just slipped them together). They came apart for some reason, filling the house with smoke. I had a pot covering the hole with one hand and calling for the kids to get me the phone so I could call the Fire Dept. I've never forgotten that and boy, did he get in trouble big time when he returned.

Oh Debra, I will be sending good vibes your way that you and your DH have the BEST time together on this trip. Glad you are back home now. Think we have all had rough patches during our lives/marriages/relationships. Have a good evening.

Monica, if I were closer, I'd sure be tempted to go, but out here on the west coast, no way. I'm sure you'll meet lots and lots of people if you go. I think they should wear name tags with the forum user names on them.

Good night,

Jeanette

Hi ladies....I'm back to say good night before heading off to bed....I did get a workout in, finally. I did PUB...and was pretty tired at the end! I am planning to do LoMax tomorrow...and add some more abs. I should get back to my rotation on Thursday..hopefully! I had a great time in NC...it was my mom's and DD's birthdays...and my bestest friend came up from Charleston....and of course, we went out on St Patty's day. I looked at a lot of houses while I was there in wild anticipation of actually selling ours here in Illinois! There's lots on the market there, so when the time comes we should be able to find something that we like. DD is going back to school tomorrow...and I have to pick up the dog from the kennel......and go to the grocery store...and go through all the mail we had piled up...so I have a busy morning before I'll have a chance to pop by and say hi.

Monica...I wish I could go on the road trip...but since we haven't sold our house yet, I just can't make plans that far out. Also, if things go well with DH, I may be in Russia for part of the summer.

Tracy...Just wanted to make sure that you got the DVD I sent...You probably posted, but I haven't had a chance to go back more than a couple of days. Have a great time in Florida!

Steph...Looking forward to hearing about your take aways from the X...Congrats again!

Sandra...I am trying to use my total body workouts as add ons in my new rotation....for example, I used MM plus CTX to hit all body parts last week (or whenever that was)...Depending on how you are setting up your rotation...You can add on MM or ME or whatever to Gym Styles or SH...I know I am not making sense...Let me try again. If you are hitting one or 2 body parts a day, try adding on the same body parts from MM (or whatever)...You will use the muscle in different ways...and then you will certainly get the pump that you are looking for.

Lea...Hoping you are feeling better...and I am very proud of you for going green!

Okay...I really have to go now...I spent longer online than I meant to...but I've missed you guys!

Hi to Jeanette, Traci, and Laurie! Promise to have personals for you guys tomorrow!
