Gooooood Morning X'ers!

Up at 2:15 even tho DH slept in guest room ..x( I am bright eyed & bushy tailed this morning so will start soon on what is a very busy day -

Today is LEG Strength-FEST DAY!
GS Legs Timesaver 1 (all standing) 32 min - Minus Stretch about 4 minutes
Firm It Up Slim Series 60 Min - Minus warm Up of 8 minutes I think

Its actually a great combo (tho a bit long) as GS is an entirely different kind of workout so I should be hitting legs & booty from every possible muscle combo. My legs were severely fatigued after Cardio Leg Blast on Sunday but not one dang case of DOMS! I was truely surprised as it was a brand new workout for my legs and I really felt it with all the plyo stuff but nothing other than fatigue...WEIRD! We'll see if I can walk later! I may split todays up over the course of the day but sometimes thats more "painful!"

Back with personals from yesterday in a bit!

:7

Hi X'ers and graduates!

Traci you just amaze me up so early and always so perky. Sounds like a nice leg workout. I don't have any leg workouts except Cathe's, so 2 out of the 3 days a week I'll be on my own.

Today I'm going to do some lower body weight/plyo intervals and finish with cardio stack core attack. Core is already not feeling as tight as when I was doing abx consistently, still flat though.

BBL,

Tracy

Buffy: Sure hope you pop in to say Hi & let us know how recovery from surgery is going. I keep looking for you on the forum but haven’t seen a post since the surgery. {{{Buffy}}}

TRACY X :
I was just thinking that my abs need to be worked HARD next week! I am trying to get into the flow of no Tony so I guess my focus came off abs this week. I do have a nice Mish Mosh (similar to yours) that is on the schedule tomorrow. Is your Plyo part of legs today freestyle as well? I am so envious of your dedication and ability to do it without videos. I am a slave to DVDs I’m afraid. Hope you enjoy Core Stack / Core Attack. Can’t wait to hear your review on his version of rep counting and his sarcasms… I found it to be cute but to each his own! Your Back & Chest wt work just blows me away! I doubt I will ever lift as heavy… You are really impressively (is that a word?) STRONG! I aspire to you. Still not thrilled with the change as I have ZERO soreness from Bi-Tri-Back yesterday… I shall persevere as I am using different series each week and working parts 2xs per week. It takes me 2x a week to even come close to 1 Tony I think.

LAURIE:
Hope you got StretchX in and are ready to go for remainder of week!

JEANETTE:
Great day for you yesterday! Excellent news at Dr appt + new blinds! What more can ya ask for? Had to LOL…. I never once experience that Runners High either! I figured if I never got it running a Marathon it just wasn’t going to happen! On SJP- My favorite as EVERY song is an “OMG, that’s my favorite song!” thing. I despise HiLo work but those songs are a must have in my SJP days so I do the dang things! That Cathe is sneaky like that!!!

DEBRA:
OK Miss Debra…. Do I have to make a trip out to see you and put that DVD in myself??????? You KNOW I’m joking, (OK half joking) ….. I just want to see you finish so badly! We NEED a DebraX on the board!! How about instead of doing personals today you get up from computer and go press PLAY? I don’t want to be the reason it doesn’t get done! I’d feel sooooooooo guilty!

X:
Hope you & DH are BRINGING IT GOOD!!! How are your Abs looking these days? Leaning out is ALWAYS good for those to pop!

DB: (soon to be DBX!)
I was thinking about one of those books too! The only one I’ve seen really mentioned a lot is “Total Women’s Fitness” Gerard Thorne & Phil Embleton (I think its 2-3 years old. They also have one out called BodyFitness for Women (don’t know which came first). Those are the only 2 that I’ve seen recommended by Women Body Builders consistently.
LEA:
Getting worried about you girl! How ya feeling and how is life in general?

DEB:
Hope you are OK too! My gosh I miss seeing everyone each day!!

Monica:
LOL on the CH/B WOWZER! I remember all too clearly that first week back to it! KILLER all over again! Awesome way to improve! You are on a roll now!!!! Phase 3 is supposed to be all about Muscle Confusion so I think Tony did good! All Pump is indeed an Amy Bento. This current series is the first I have of her but I really like her strength stuff so I may go try & find clips & reviews on her older strength. Her HiLo is great (if ya like HiLo) Kick is fun but really more just cardio… I literally LOL on the “is Cathe easier now”…. Cathe will NEVER be easy for me! I guess what’s “easier” is getting thru workouts with fewer modifications, my Heart Rate doesn’t soar to 198 like it consistently used to …. So I guess I’m more fit since P90X but the step risers still leave my legs feeling like lead. I also can already tell that I have to alternate my step cardio riser levels as my upper legs are already bulking back up. So yesterday I did SJP without a riser.

STEPH:
LOL on Rice Crispy Treat + chocolate! You are fine Steph! If sweets are that nurturing for you and you can control the quantity why worry? I just cant eat it because I binge every single time… Many people can enjoy life’s little treats & not binge. Go for it- Life’s too short! What rotation leaves out L&B the final phase? I’d be freaking out without my leg work!!!! Great job on the Plyo X too! Drum roll please.~~~~~~~~ Entering Phase 3! WooHoo

SANDRA:
I forgot to mention on yesterdays personal that 15#s for triceps???? Is that possible?? I was so exited when I actually used 9’s & 10’s with good form… (Probably why I have flappy jacks back there) Glad to hear the Peppermint Tea Trick is working for you! Have great day!!

Off to start Leg Fest!

Morning All,

Core Syn last night went alright. My HR really fluctuates on that one. I always feel like I'm working to fatigue, then I check my HR and it's only between 150-160. I must admit, all those Superman Bananas in Cardio X have been great practice for giving gusto to Core Syn. When I first started this program, I couldn't roll from back to front unassisted. Now, piece of cake (well, as easy as it can be :) ). Still can't do the chataranga run though. I love when Tony says, "...then some of us will go into a low, little DREAM run". Such a great line. I think that Kenpo is tonight. Love that one. I've really learned to bring it there.

Traci, thanks for the book suggestions. I'm having trouble with deciding which one to go for after reading the reviews on Amazon. Some people rave about certain books and others give horrible feedback, saying the books are for beginners. Although I've never attempted TRUE bodybuilding, and don't think I want to, am I a beginner? One I found was called Fitness Weight Training by Thomas Baechle and Roger W Earle. What I liked about the book was that it wasn't gender specific. I'm so afraid to go with a women's only book because I don't want them to fluff stuff up. I know I can do modifications to most exercises if I find them to hard, so I'd rather get a more challenging book and modify than get one that fits me just perfect now and have no place to go with it later. Guess I'll just need to purchase and return if I think I made a bad decision.

Tracy, sounds like a challenging w/o today. Have fun! "Abs don't feel as tight... but they're still flat"... wish I could say that! I know I have a six pack under my pooch somewhere! :)

Have wonderful w/o's and I'll be reading. ONLY 4 MORE P90Xs TO GO until I'm DBX. Yippee!

Morning X'ers,

Classic/Ph3/Week10/Day1

Today will be Chest, Shoulders, Triceps plus ABX.

Today is not so cold only -5, so DD's are back at school. No more couch potatoes. Couldn't believe when I got home, they where still in their jammies.

Traci, that leg workout sounds like it would be a good one. I really like the GS Legs Timesaver.

DB, I have never done CardioX, might need to try that one for practice on the banana's. :D

Have a great day!

Laurie

Happy to report Leg Fest is completed before 8:00am… WooHoo! I actually really loved this Mish Mosh. GS Legs Standing Timesaver + Firm It Up Slim Series. I had forgotten how Firm it Up was laid out…. 25 minutes standing KickMax Type Drills with 200,000 one leg & dble leg squats – hit the floor for 15 minutes of various butt crunches until you can no longer tolerate the pain + 10 minutes of Abs all High End various crunches … OUCHIE WAWA!!

~~~ P E R S O N A L S ~~
TRACY X :
WOOOOOHOOOOOOO on Ab DOMS! You must have really focused yesterday! GREAT JOB!
LAURIE:
Go for it with Chest SH Tri today!!! Glad its “warming” for you & kids.
DB: (soon to be DBX!)
^^^ 5 on Core Syn gains! You’ll always be able to try those chatarungas on your own in a few days!! I totally agree with you on books made for women… Never sure what to expect. As much as I love on-line ordering for this kind of book and a fitness log I think I’m going to have to venture out to real world! Let the countdown begin!!
Great day to all- I’m off to run errands in the 72 degree BEAUTY of a day!
Good morning,
Classic/Phase 3/Week 2/Day 2
Today was supposed to be PlyoX, but I did Imax1 instead, but hey, I think it was effective, my heart rate got up there on the blasts, recovery was pretty fast and I don't think I wimped out at all. Just needed a different workout this morning. Last night, I put in Gilad's Quick Something or Other and had DH do Shoulders & Arms and then we both did his Abs. For sure, though, tomorrow night I will do Ab Ripper X, for the confusion part. I do feel the crunches in Gilad's work as it's been so long since I've worked them like that. Anyone know of any other good "Guy" workouts on DVD's? My DH will try them if they aren't too "girlie" (even though I know the "girlie" ones would kick his butt). I'll have to check out some other Gilads or even Billy Blanks or something. Any recommendations are welcome.
Oh yeah, I added a few pictures from our desert trip on Saturday to my Picture Trail. It shows the old cottonwood trees in the desert. Someone was asking about them so I posted.
One more change, I'm giving up my french vanilla creamer for my coffee. Instead, yesterday I bought some half and half and I sweetened it with some Stevia and a little vanilla flavoring. It's good.
Traci, your DH slept in the guest room? Has he ever been tested for the sleep apnea thing? Doesn't sound nice for you guys to have to sleep apart. I see you have Firm It Up on your schedule today. I have the Slim Series and remember that one as being very effective and really working my butt/legs. Legs are my least favorite to work, but of course, I really need to. I read on Video Fitness that one gal gets good results when doing a Slim Series rotation of about 4-6 weeks after P90X. I'm also thinking that way as I got very defined with SS last time, but it's a boring one. I put a day of cardio inbetween. Bet I could spice it up a little more now. I think right after P90X, though, I'm going to do whatever I want for a week or 2, some Turbo Jams, Christie, Cathe, just to get it out of my system.
Tracy, what is Cardio Stack Core Attack from? Who is the instructor on it? Flat abs are good, I'm still TTOM so still puffy. Are the ab DOMS from Cardio Stack?
DB, you're almost there too!!!! Way to go! How have you felt about your results?
Laurie, I remember during the summers my kids would be home. I'd give them a few jobs to do while I was at work. The vacuum cleaner would still be warm when I got home. They must have heard me coming home and rushed to do chores. Hey, I guess I do that sometimes too before DH gets home.
Hi to everyone that follows,
Jeanette
Ok Gang, I am really needing some motivation. I set my alarm to get up early and do Plyo X. I woke up and was wide awake, ready to go, but just couldn't bring myself to do Plyo X. So what did I do instead? Nothing. So I will have to exercise after work. I will have one hour before my husband's band shows up for band practice. I just don't want to do Plyo X at all. I am absolutely dreading it. It doesn't sound like fun and I am sick of it. I feel like I am getting sick of a lot of P90X workouts. I am still happy to do the upper body workouts but I can't stand the thought of doing Yoga X, Plyo X, or Legs & Back anymore. After I do them I am always happy I did it, but I am starting to absolutely dread them. I don't know if I can finish the P90X rotation.
I am considering doing a Taebo: Ultimate Lower DVD tonight. It is mostly cardio focused on lower body, it runs around 40 minutes. I could follow it up with floor work from Gym Style Legs. What do you guys think. Any words of advice or motivation? I am feeling very close to quitting P90x and just doing my own rotation. I feel so chained to this rotation. I have never stuck with a rotation before, and boy is P90X a long one!
Monica
Hi everyone. I am sorry that I haven't really posted in the last few days, but yesterday I had a relapse of being really sick. So I dragged myself to the doctors and it turns out I have bronchitis. Well, there goes working out for me for a little while. Urgh!!! And now I am going to take my youngest DS to the doc to make sure he doesn't have the same thing.
Traci - Thanks for your concern. I'm here with a lack of energy. Hopefully not for long.
Monica - Don't quit the X. I so know the feeling though. It gets tiring. And I dreaded it at the end too.
I really can't do too many personals right now, but will try later. ^^^^^5 to everyone with sticking with it. Take care.
Lea
Monica, I skipped PlyoX too today, first time for skipping that one, BUT I did something that was just as good (Imax1), just different and different is one reason why P90X works so well. I needed a mental change today and Imax1 did it for me. My advice: It's better to do something so get out something that has some Plyos in them or intensity and bring it on that workout. Keep going girl! You can finish! I will be right with you too. Yeah, I'm a little tired of some of 'em, but they helped me a lot. I also did some Gilad abs and really felt a burn on those whereas I wasn't feeling it so much on AbX.
Lea, thought you might have something more serious than a cold because it was dragging on so. Take it easy. Keep checking in with us cuz we'll be thinking of you.
Jeanette
~~~ P E R S O N A L S ~~

LEA-X: So HAPPY to hear you are still kicking! I am so sorry about the diagnosis… Please just take it easy and rest as much as possible. Consider it a FULL recovery week and I bet you’ll come much stronger in a week or so. The X sure can take its toll and I bet a part of your getting sick was being run down… funny how it hit right after the grueling 4th week of Final Phase. Take care!

MONICA: There’s nothing wrong with subbing any of the workouts if that’s what you need to do right now. Re-visit your initial goals for doing the X and see if those are still important. If they are that will motivate you a bit if they aren’t… sub away all you want! As Sandra pointed out before there is no rotation police that bangs your door down. I think your leg sub sounds TERRIFIC! Maybe you just need a 1 week break from PlyoX. Don’t be too hard on yourself whatever you decide.. We will all support you!

JEANETTE: Great job on Imax 1! I agree that all the Max’s can really be turned into great Plyo subs if the focus is on lower body workout. Try checking out collagevideo for male instructors maybe… I don’t have too many but may just start collecting a few more now myself! ^^^ 5 on making the creamer change… I dreaded mine so much but actually really LOVE my coffee now…smooth! DH has looked into sleep apnea- yet ANOTHER thing insurance doesn’t cover & his doc won’t give the necessary referral for testing as he feels it’s a sinus/surgery issue. Well I happen to sleep w/ the man & know that the majority of it is a weight issue. Anyway… he’s just got to rest with his grueling work schedule so whatever works for him right now will have to do. Haven’t had a chance to check out new pics but looking forward to doing so later this afternoon!

Ok- This time I’m really leaving to go run my errands! BBL

Thanks for everyone's advice. I think I may do "The Gauntle" minus the upper body sections tonight. This way I will get some plyo type work from IMAX 2 and some of the cardio blasts from Boot Camp. it will be under an hour -- which I need, so that I will be finished before the guys whow up for band practice.

It seems like my DH's band practice is really starting to interfere with me working out in the evenings. I cancelled my Bally's membership a while back, but now I am rethinking that decision. Tonight I made an appointment at the 24 Hour Fitness by my house. I am going up there to try their 7:15 Yoga class, then talk to one of their sales people about a membership. I figure while my husband is in band practice I can go up to the gym and work out for as long as I want and get away from the guys.

LEA -- I hope you start feeling better soon. I miss hearing from you on a daily basis. I think Traci's idea to take a full recovery week is a good one.

JEANETTE -- You are right -- as long as I sub for something that really engages the lower body then I will go for it! Glad to hear I am not the only one.

I'll be back with more personals later.

Monica

I'm just here for a quick pop in, but I wanted to tell Monica that I've felt the exact same way. I've subbed other equivalent workouts several times and it helps tremendously! Do that for as long as you think you need to.

for those who asked, I'm doing the Lean Rotation and I don't think Legs and Back are in Phase 3 at all! I had to look twice because I couldn't believe it! Yesterday I did YogaX and I've never felt so strong doing that one before! I really enjoyed it! I wasn't about dying by the last Vinyasa for once! Today is rest day and then ONWARD to Phase 3! I'm going to need all kinds of encouragement for this round!

Steph

Hi there ladies...Just wanted to let you know that I survived teaching my DD's kindergarten (with preschoolers mixed in) class!! I promise that I am going to workout this afternoon...I have already been shoveling snow...so that must count for something!! I promised my DD I would play on the computer with her for a few minutes...and then I will do CST!!! So no time for personals now...just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate the motivation I get from checking in with all of you great ladies!

Traci...I promise I will hit play all by myself today!

Monica...I'm with everyone else....Sub where you need to to keep your motivation going! I know you will do great..and I don't blame you for not wanting to work out in front of a bunch of guys! I would be so self-conscience!

Happy day to all...will be back for a late night check in I'm sure...about the time Traci is getting up for the day!

CL/PH3/WEEK2/Day2: PlyoX

Good afternoon, all. This is going to be quick because I am freezing. I'm still in my sweaty workout clothes, waiting for DD to finish her lunch so I can go upstairs and have a HOT shower. My arms are very tired from Ch-Sh-Tri yesterday. That's a thorough workout.

It's really interesting. Monica, Jeanette and myself are on the same P90X day, and we were all feeling the exact same way about doing PlyoX today. Mind you, I NEVER want to do that workout. But I know Jeanette loves it. Jeanette, are your legs wanting a bit of a break from your ride on the weekend?

I came very, very close to subbing PlyoX today, especially since Traci reminded Monica that there are no Rotation Police. The boredom factor with the workouts that are done each week is really starting to set in. I knew myself well enough at the start to know this was going to happen to me, especially this close to the end. So, I reminded myself of that particular personality trait of mine, told myself to stop thinking so much, and just press play. So I did. And I did the dang workout. And it was fun. And not has hard as I was anticipating. And I got a great workout. And now I feel great and am glad I did it. So there you go. 8 PlyoX's down, 2 to go!

I also tacked on the standing work from Cathe's Legs & Glutes. I stopped after the genie-arm toe tap thingies, because after that she starts getting into the glutes. I'd like to save my glutes and hip flexors for ARX tomorrow, and YogaX on Thursday. If I can find the plates to attach to my barbell (basement/workout area is in the midst of renovations) next week I might tack on the lower body portion of Muscle Max.

TraciX and TracyX - you guys are doing really eXcellent with your post-P90X programs. I'm glad you're both still with us and giving the rest of us some creative ideas for the future.

Time to go clean up,
Sandra

Hi all of you dedicated X’ers,

I haven’t worked out yet, but I wanted to get in the personals. I am looking forward to the plyo stuff because I know what good things it does for my legs.

Traci X – I have some nice fatigue in my upper body and that’s what I like; some, but I like to be able to give it my all on the next weight day. Maybe it is the pull-ups and pushups that increase the intensity and create the overall worked feeling that I got from p90x. It worked for me and that’s why my upper body routine will have a variety of both. Are you pushing hard enough? I don’t read up on this enough to know the science, but when I did freestyle legs; I always had the lactic acid type of DOMS, stiff, tight, sore and never any DOMS for upper body, because I was obviously, not by choice, on a maintenance plan. Once I started going heavy, its not DOMS the next day, but more fatigue in the muscles, which I think for my current goals is more beneficial. Who knows?????

Jeanette – You reminded me that I need to make a drs appt. Glad everything went ok. Congratulations on giving up the French Vanilla Creamer. Do you know how bad that stuff is? It’s like a chemical cocktail. I bet you will feel better once you get all of that junk out of your system. I’m like the chemical Nazi. When we go on vacation I go so far as to keep milk in the cooler so I don’t have to use the creamers when we stop and get coffee. Even that little bit effects me. The cardio stack is a dvd that collage sells. It’s a guy and he does plyo intervals and core intervals. I haven’t done it yet, but Traci gave it the vote of approval. Abs were from some of Cathe’s older stuff. I had to do 30 minutes worth though and I don’t have that much time 3 days a week.

DB – If you find a book please let me know. I’d love to have one. I’m counting down with you; I know how those last few days felt. I think that my HR went up and down with core syn. I just didn’t perceive it as a cardio workout, so it didn’t matter to me.

Laurie – ch/sh/tri have fun. It has the added core benefit. I haven’t done cardio x, and I’m glad because now that I’m done, I can get a Tony fix with something sort of new.

Monica – Don’t quit now. Add in some other stuff and maybe make some substitutions, but keep going. It’s worth it. Sandra and I added a little cardio before some of the workouts and that gave us the Cathe/cardio fix plus a warm up. I had never followed any rotation before I started this one. Do you add weights to legs and back? That might be a way to spice it up a little. I used weights and got good results. I love the Guantlet and used to do it all the time, except I would sub step ups for the upper body segments. It is a great workout. Joining the gym might be a good idea. At least it would get you some time plus maybe vary the yoga. I love yoga and wish I turn everyone on to its benefits.

Lea – I’m sorry you have bronchitis. Sometimes that takes a lot out of you and is hard to get over. Try to eat well, I’m sure that will aid the recovery.

Steph – That is great news on the strength and endurance gains. Progress was really what kept me going at the end. Congratulations on entering phase 3. You will feel so accomplished when you are done.

Debra – I hope when I check back that you have checked off another p90x workout!

Bye to all, where’s Buffy and Sandra?

Tracy

Hi all,

I just finished my legs/ plyo/ cardio stack core attack workout. It was quite fun and my core is tight now. Traci you were right that workout is a keeper. It has some unique moves. I was fried by the time it got to the planks at the end with the tubing. That's a great idea. I couldn't do all of the moves exactly right, so it will give me something to work on. I may have to change it's place in my rotation because my arms were more fatigued than I thought from yesterday and it was almost unpleasant.

Sandra - Great job for 'just doing it.' I am an advocate of plyo x and especially for those of us who hate floor work it really targets all areas of the legs quite nicely. During the last few weeks, I added a 6 lb med ball to a few of the exercises just to change it up a little and keep my mind working. It didn't take much to increase the intensity and give it a whole new feel. Tacking on extra stuff here and there also keeps the boredom down and hey, isn't that more muscle confusion?

Tracy X

CLASSIC ROTATION / PHASE 3 / DAY 2

I would like your opinions -- I am thinking of purchasing Boot Camp for my Post P90X rotation. Do you think that this would be a similar workout to "Core Synergistics"? You get some cardio, lower and upper with light weights and Core. Opinions?

Okay - so I couldn't bring myself to do Plyo X. I just didn't want to visit with Tony today. I did Cathe's "The Gauntlet", skipping the weight segments. Within The Gauntlet I did do two of the Bootcamp Lower Body segments that were kickboxing and don't use weights, I also did the Bootcamp cardio blasts. It was a great workout, clocking in right at 45 minutes after skipping some segments. I am going up to the 24Hour Fitness at 7pm for a Yoga class and to possibly purchase a membership.

It looks like my schedule may be off again this week. Friday Legs & Back and ARX is on the schedule, however I have to do another medical test that will take up most of my day. The test has two parts, one at 10:30a.m. and the other at 2p.m. and I cannot eat or drink anything after midnight until they are completed!!! How am I going to make it? I can tell you one thing, I will be eating up until 11:59 p.m.! Ha!

Tracy and Traci -- What is the Cardio stack core attack workout? I am sure you posted it already and I am forgetting, so sorry about that. Just curious - sounds like fun!

Monica

Hello to all....Just wanted to let the Trac(i-y)s know I did work out today! woo hoo! I did CST as planned. I wasn't able to up my weights much at all ..but upped reps on some of the push ups.

I am sure everyone is in bed but me....

Just wanted to respond to Monica...I love Boot Camp...but I just want to let you know it is much tougher than Core Syn...you can modify..and the funtional fitness is good...but the cardio is MUCH harder...so just keep that in mind. Keeping my fingers crossed that your tests go well on Friday...and I'm with you on the eating...I don't think I could go until after 3pm without something! I would be nauseous!

Godd night dear ladies!
