Hi! Back again!
Okay, CoreSyn went GREAT today! I hate to admit it, but I found myself enjoying it. None of it was as hard as I'd built it up in my imagination. Certainly the familiarity of everything helped make the whole workout go smoother.
For those of you who can do unassisted Dreya rolls, how do you do it? I notice that if I put a lot of force and energy into the shoulder stand, and actively rock body back down as oomph-ully as possible, I can almost do it. The first 2 times I did Core Syn I was doing nice controlled shoulder stands, then gently rolling back down. I had no momentum. So, should I be gathering momentum with the shoulder stand, so that the becomes like one very large rock and roll?
Now finally on to personals!!
Monica - life is too short to give up peanut butter, I agree! And if Cathe has a jar stashed in her office, car, and house, then I have to think it's not all that bad. Okay, now am I getting people mixed up, or are you the member who bashed her toe the other day? If so, how is it? You sound like you had a great workout yesterday! I don't think your week was too far off the mark; and yes, I also agree the weight workouts are more critical than the cardio. Good for you for getting all that in, with all the trials you had! You enjoy CardioX, hey? I've never even tried that one. Maybe one day when I return to my regular rotations I'll put it in on a moderate-cardio day. I always eat before PlyoX or any other workout. But if it's a high impact one like PlyoX I try to do it 1 hour in advance, and keep it light. Cereal is a great choice.
Lea - 24 floor flies on your toes, AND mason twists with straight legs?! Amazing work!!! No matter what your pics look like, there's no doubt you've made significant progress and have brought your fitness level up a few notches. Was is worth all the trouble?
I'm confused about the Tosca Reno book, too. It's available in some places, but not others. I wish I could help. If it helps, it was $5 cheaper if I bought it online, then buying it in the store. So, I guess with shipping I'd have paid about the same? And your positive energy was well received! Thank you!!!
Traci - Oh, I got mixed up on when you were having the facial. It will be a wonderful treat for the end of next week! I'm eating protein at every "meal" again, and it's making me thirsty. This is what it felt like when I started the P90X Phase I diet. I have a feeling that if I compare how I'm eating now with the P90X Phase II diet, I'll be pretty close. I also like how Reno's 6 mini-meal approach jive with Nancy Clark's recommendation that people eat a "second lunch", rather than a "snack". She says that by calling it a "lunch" people are more likely to choose good foods: proteins and complex carbs. So, I have three good-nutrition "experts" that all use different language, but ultimately agree. I guess I can't ignore that, can I? The door gym sounds like the perfect tool for your next round of P90X. LOL at the coconut remark! Very funny! You'd have oh so much time to lift those coconuts in every way imaginable. Somehow I see Tony being very at home lifting coconuts (he's a bit of a monkey...). Nice to see the pike number increase. Did you ever see the pic that Shelley (allwildgirl) posted of herself doing a pike outside of Target, at the last Cathe convention? People are still clucking about that. It's a beaut photo. Should be on the cover of Pike Magazine. I can't believe the three workouts you did today. So, did you drink 3 recovery drinks? I think you probably need them!!!
DB - I'm so with you on those 180-squat thingies. My most disliked move of the whole workout. But they're getting easier, thank heavens. (If Traci loves them, then she's doing them wrong LOL!!!)
X - I hope you enjoyed your rest day. I think the KickMax combos, plus the KPC combos, with the drill work from Cardio Kicks tacked on at the end, would be an awesome low-impact kickboxing workout that would be a kickbutt substitute for KenpoX. Very nice assessment of the GS Series as a push/pull workout. I agree. I'm still trying to figure out the best Cathe workout in that regard. Another option is to do, say, the Chest work from GS, and insert pull-up variations in-between the chest exercises. Then tack on some of the weighted back work at the end. I consider YogaX a very effective lower-body workout. My butt, hamstrings and lower back all feel this one. Love it.
Tracy - you're so right about not letting our mental fatigue influence whether we do our planned workouts. Sometimes the workout is just what we need to shake out the cobwebs. I sometimes find that my best workouts come on a day when I least "feel" like doing them. Good for you for doing such a tough weight workout yesterday, and for doing so well with it. Take care of your back. That's very frustrating.
Jeanette - Your husband appears to be taking some initiative with his fitness? That's a nice thing when that happens. I hope he sees great results. Of course, as a man, he'll see huge results with little effort; it's just not fair, is it? I'm glad you enjoyed CoreSyn today. Those chataruns turned out to be not all that bad. I'm getting better at them. Glad you're feeling lean today. So, do you think you've shed some water weight from last week?
fox2star - sounds like MM really confused your muscles! Good workout! And KPC is always fun! Doesn't sound like you're giving yourself much time to "recover" ;-)
Laurie - I loved hearing about your run yesterday. Sometimes you just have to have a hit, don't you? Good work!
My thoughts on Phase 3, Week 4 (not that I'm there yet, but many of you are): I'm thinking that week is "gravy." I'm not surprised that many of you are reporting fatigue and lack of motivation. You're pushing yourself just a little bit longer than you're used to. I think they put this week into the mix to basically wring every last ounce of energy from your body. Once you've had a week to recover from this last phase, you will probably see superb results, because you pushed yourself just a little bit farther and had to work a little bit harder. I think, if you've put the right amount of intensity into the 3rd phase, you are expected to be sick of the entire P90X program, and ready to move on to something different. So, if you're feeling less than 100% during the workouts, or no longer seeing much by way of gains, don't feel disappointed. The fact that you're doing one more week is what will make the difference. Stick with it - you're almost done!!!!!!!!!
As if this post isn't already long enough, I have one more comment/question. I received P90 yesterday. Ordered it because DH is interested. There are 6 workouts: 2 cardio, 2 weights, 2 abs. You're supposed to alternate the Level 1-2 cardio/ab and weight workouts each day, for 6 days a week. About half way through the 90 days, you're supposed to switch up to the Level 3-4 cardio/abs and weight workouts. My concern is: this sounds superbly boring. Granted, DH is completely new to this kind of thing, so there will definitely be an adjustment/aclimation period for him. But I seriously doubt he will be able to stick with these few workouts over a whole 3 month period.
BTW, I chose the upgraded package of this, and received 3 workouts from the P90Masters series. I suppose he could mix them in later on?
How would you approach this? Suggest he do the program as written, or make him a real program? Jeanette, you've got some experience here....
Have a great day,
Sandra
