Xers *Tantalizing TUESDAY Tidbits*

Good Morning Xer's!! Er....afternoon....

Traci- Sorry about the DOMs...I hope that they settle down soon. I actually have DOMS in my forearms from my lower body workout on Sunday! (hanging on to the BB for the SLDL) No workout yesterday (rest day!) but I have HIIT on tap for today. Oh, and yes, TTOM is in the midst of us....although I'm almost done!

Cheryl- I did the deed......I ordered platemates yesterday!!! Oh, I also added lifting straps to my order because of Sunday's lower body and the DOMS in my forearms!

Teddygirl- OMG!! I had forgotten about Pinky's Lowmax! I'm with Traci and would have to seriously think about splitting that one up!

Jeanette- Welcome back! I'm glad that you had a really nice time!

Debra- HUGS, HUGS, and More Hugs!!!

Off to get some HIIT done then let it cool down outside for some yardwork! The landscaping has been sorely neglected, but the sprinkler system is done and it works GREAT!!!

Carol: I just spent almost $300.00 on books for history (SOTW2), english (R&S English 5 and FLL Level 3) and literature books. Ack!That doesn't even cover my future order for Veritas Press historical based fiction books. Thankfully, I didn't need to buy for the other subjects! Do you get excited once you placed your orders? I'm going to start homeschooling next week with what I already have in the house. The music cd/book that I was asking about was Themes to Remember by Persons. My gf has her masters in piano performance and highly recommends it. I've heard them talk about it on the WTM boards. It'll be a good thing to do in the car! Anyhow, I have a quick question. Is there a big difference in the SOTW2 revised edition? I went ahead and ordered the old edition in spiral bound since it was on sale for $9.50. Also, the activity books aren't revised. Another ? Did you buy each of your dc an activity book? I bought two for the twins, but opted to not buy one for older dd since they're $26.00 each and she's using MOH2! I thought there were worksheets you could buy for more than one child that was cheaper than having to buy another activity book. If Susan Wise Bauer sells them, can you link me to it? I also took a look at the link you gave for combining SOTW with MOH. LOL it's the one that I already have!!! I need to check out MOH2's Yahoo group for any smooth combination suggestions. Are you using MOH1 or 2 this year? Did you do the timeline? Are you using the Amy Pack figures? We're making our own since the girls enjoy playing with paper dolls.

Sandra: You may want to check to see if your current printer is compatible with Vista before you invest in a new Dell. Sadly, mine is not! I'll have to use neighbor's computer/printer later tonight.

Off I go to clean and do laundry. Still wearing the workout clothes...

Ballistic Hugs to ALL!

Wendy: OMG, must be a GOOD feeling to home school your girls, such commitment, Is this your first year HS-ing?:)

Amy: You and Tracie are scaring me:eek: stop it. I did it before no problems. The key is to take longer breaks. To me it’s Circuit Training, But no UB ;)

Wendy -- LOL about car schooling. We did end up taking math along to the eye doc. She was cute, though (she's a ped opthamologist) and was asking about his "homework". Our current composer study is a test group for a new curriculum Maggie Hogan is writing called Christian Kids Experience Composers (will be aimed for grades 4-8, I believe). It's a 12-13 week course and we were supposed to start today but it will have to wait 'til Thursday with all the running around. I've never heard of A Child's Geography, but we'll be doing Trail Guide to Bible Geography this year with my older 2 (and Galloping the Globe VERY lightly with the youngest). I've heard nothing but good things about RS4K, but I've not seen it myself. We just started yesterday the Great Science Adventures Human Body study, then we'll be tackling Christian Kids Explore Biology (skipping human body). We're also adding on Considering God's Creation to CKEB as well. Earth science sounds fun, we'll be focusing on that next year. I know what you mean about ordering stuff. I'm glad we go year-round so I can order things as we go and it's not usually TOO much of a chunk at a time (if you don't count CHAP, lol!). As for SOTW revised vs. original, it's mostly the artwork that's been revised. What I did for the AG was to order the original AG, then just the student pages from the AG (punched to go into a binder) for $10/ea for Nathan and Anna. I thought it made more sense and was actually cheaper than photocopying all those pages. I see they have them for Vol. 2 here: http://www.peacehillpress.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=7 You should only need ONE AG and then student pages for each student. Maybe you can change your order before it ships :D We're using SOTW1 and MOH1 this year. We started in April of this year (we like to be out of phase with everyone else starting in September as it makes finding books at the library easier) and we're up to the New Kingdom of Egypt (done just this morning, lol). I didn't make a timeline, per se, but Nathan has a notebook timeline and we have a wall timeline (it's a blank laminated one I got from Geography Matters) that Anna and I do together. Anna would probably enjoy making timeline figures, but Nathan would not and in the interest of time, I do use the Amy Pak figures. It was one of my more costly investments this year, and I was unsure about it, but I love having them all right there and I can print them as many times as I want (which comes in handy for days like today when we do a Who's Who sheet, too).

Jenn -- I hope you're feeling better soon :( Don't beat yourself up about only getting in one workout, either. We all have ups and downs, and being sick is a very valid reason to relax and take care of yourself!!

Traci-X -- Cathe needs to come over every day and crack that whip!! lol. Maybe then I wouldn't slack so much on certain things...

Anointed -- Are you nearing TTOM? Are you in an area of the country that's had a lot of rainy days lately? Those 2 things always make me feel blah. I hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks Carol! I emailed Peace Hill Press with my request. They close at 3:30 EST. I'll try calling them again tomorrow. I've met Maggie at CHAP and Linda Hobar at SEARCH. I helped Linda with her booth at the SEARCH homeschool conference last year. We spent the Sunday after it was finished touring Philly. She was getting pictures for her future volume of MOH. CKEB is a fun book! We used it a couple years ago for science. We skipped over the one section in the human body chapter. You know which one! ;-) I tossed and turned over which astronomy book to use last year (CKEE&S or Apologia). I ended up choosing Apologia since CKEE&S wasn't ready at the time. A Child's Geography Vol.1 reminds me more of Apologia's format, very CM with a classical twist. You can download the first few chapters here: http://www.achildsgeography.com/volume-one/
It doesn't have any geography like a traditional geography book. Vol.1 focuses on exploring earth. Her future volumes will focus on geography and correlate with chronological history starting with the Holy Land. However, I doubt I'll use those since we integrate geography with history already, and she takes forever writing her books. How cool that you're able to do the test study for CKEComposers! Work out all those kinks! Do you know when they will publish it for sale? MOH Vol.1 was awesome! We used a ton of supplements with CKEB and MOH Vol.1. Sounds like you have a fun year planned!!!

Annointed TG: I'm going on my 6th year homeschooling. Every year is different!

Okay, enough computer time for me today! Phil is working tonight. So, I'll probably log back later. I can never sleep soundly when he's not home. Baby's no guard dog!!!!

Amy: I'd post a star for you if I knew how! Good job!

Well, ladies, my to-do list isn't looking as fine as Amy's. I was doing well. Got GS cued up and ready to go. And. then. I get the call... "Maam, this is 911 checking to make sure everything is alright." What! I didn't call 911. I go to interrogate everyone in the house. Of course it's denial all around! My kids would never LIE straight to my face!!! I could tell if they were lying. Right? Fear of death threats would break them down. Right? Then I freak myself out thinking some stranger broke into my house, dialed 911, left the bike untouched, and slipped out the back door! I wake Phil up from his before nightwork nap and tell him to check out the house. He wants to know what that means!!! WTH! It means that before I beat the kids, I want to make sure it there's not some lunatic in the house prank calling 911 like the guy does in the movie before he murders everyone! That's what I mean!!! After Phil checks out every crack and crevice, he is HOT. Finally, eldest dd cracks. The police show up to make sure everything is fine before we can physically punish her behind.;-) The policeman has 5 girls of his own. Each has went behind his back and dialed 911!!! I wonder who he gets to give them their 911 lecture. I mean if your own father is a policeman, who do you fear?:7

I guess the Boy Who Cried Wolf didn't register with her. sigh.

My neighbor's computer broke last week. My other neighbor's printer is out of ink. I'm tired of begging. I'm taking the kiddos to Walmart to buy a printer. If they even try doing to me what this lady's kids did to her, I'm selling them on ebay!!!!
