! Morning gang.. Actually Jeanette was the first to post this morning but she put it on Friday night... 12: something??? Jeanette... ya gotta do a 60 miler what are you doing still awake? Great job on doing Gilad Abs so late in day! Have a fabulous ride today!

Waking up without a Tony plan is weighing heavy on my mind.. Silly I know with a closet of great DVDs... I keep telling myself to just pick up the heavy weights and go for it as I have done the past 13 weeks...Forget the pace of instructor. LOL how leery I am of trying to be disciplined enough to do this... I may quickly have to change my plan to Master Series Strength & Slow Heavy if I cant focus and stick with plan! I am doing Chest & Shoulders today. Will be using All Pump (amy bento) + Oxy mag + BM2 to give them a good solid hours worth. Will be using a log sheet and alternating chest/shoulder. I shall report later how this start/pause will work… for the first time I see a reason for a 5 disc player!

Lea: I hope you wake up feeling like you were given a magic pill! Being sick is never fun and having little ones + DH around all weekend allows for less rest time I imagine. Please take care of yourself! I think even with a Core Syn & Yoga remaining you are DONE! ^^^5!! We made it. Will there be measurements or photos?? I love results type stuff. You were already little w/ some pretty great definition so I wonder how much of a change one can really have?

TRACY: How are you feeling this morning? Is it Oh Happy Days again with cable? Enjoy your final Core Syn & Yoga… A new dawn tomorrow! Way to go on completing your program!!

Sandra, Steph, Monica, Deb, X, Debra, Laurie, DB have a wonderful Saturday and do some BOOOOOO-TY kicking today!

Hi all,

I did some cardio and a short leg segment last night. It was good and I'm ready for core syn and yoga to complete the rotation and finally be able to add the X to the end of my name.

I have no scientific research to base my leg workouts on. I was using 45 lbs for so long and I realized that I was just stuck. Even if you don't stick with heavier weights, it might be good to shake things up a little and keep the muscles guessing. You could even do lighter weights for most exercises then choose one or two exercises a workout and go heavy(ier) rotating those so that you hit each exercise heavy every week or so or go heavy one workout, lighter the next or like I said, prefatigue with heavy for squats, then continue as usual. I just know that the SAME is not good.

Traci - Glad to hear that the cardio stack core attack was a good workout. I haven't tried it yet. Sorry about the 3 weeks per month of hormonal hell. There is nothing worse. Mine was out of control several years ago, but clean eating, exercise, and finding out that I was allergic to citric acid, and sensitive to any food chemicals has really helped me (along with all of the oils etc. that I take). It's hard though because like yesterday I was at training and lunch was provided and I left and ate my turkey burger in the car to avoid eating the lunch meats, mayonaise based pasta salads etc. I'm even scared to eat fruit out because of the possibility of preservatives.

Off to read some of the previous days from this checkin (that I had to skim) and a couple others that I lurk on. Lurk is just such a negative word, like a predator or something!

LEAN/Phase 2/Week 8/Day 4

OK, I did NOT have a candy bar at all yesterday! Yay, me! After DS Dr. appointment, we did some shopping and I got an adorable pair of jeans, but I had to ask the sales lady, “Does this look like a 37 year old trying to look like she’s 25?” They are embellished down the leg with a really cute studded belt. Are you picturing it now? Well, anyway, it helped me feel better about the evil 5 lbs. problem. Oh, I'm so enjoying my recovery week knowing that I have a whole week without ARX! Kenpo is on the books for today!

Tracy - No, my clothes don’t seem to fit tighter, so that’s why I was so shocked about the increase in weight. I my weight to be the same when I got on it, so you can imagine why I freaked out! OOOHhh, I can’t wait to try the pikes on the ball. Before P90X, I could do, like, four, but I’m optimistic I could do more now after countless ARX routines! I forgot all about those! Hey, you're so close to being done! Can you just FEEL it?

Debra - LOL about my scale being broken because that’s exactly what I was thinking when I got on! I hadn’t weighed in about a month, and as I walked through the kitchen, I got on it as kind of “hmmmm, just curious” kind of attitude. I had to reweigh myself three times and the whole while thinking, “This damn thing has GOT to be getting low on batteries or something!” I have been rather cavalier about my eating habits so I’m going to pay MUCH closer attention now. I will definitely consider keeping a food diary if this doesn’t seem to be water retention or something.

Jeanette - How do you like the Sweat 5-6 from MS? Is it similar to Legs and Back? Is it weights or cardio or what? I want to order a couple of these a la carte, and I’m thinking of getting Core Cardio to sub with Core Syn after P90X is done. I’m going to take your advice and really chug the water this weekend and see if this is water retention. Thanks for the advice.

TraciX- Yeah, it’s amazing how those candy bars keep you from losing weight! LOL! Who knew? If you’re down to 128 pounds, I think you’re probably looking pretty awesome and don’t need to worry about taking your “after” pics. I really hope you get this adrenal thing figured out and your hormones can get evened out. I’ll be you’d like to start sleeping again! I really appreciate your sharing this with us because I’m thinking I’ll be experiencing some of this soon, (peri-menopausal stuff) and I will be more educated from the information you’ve been providing! I’ll bet working out without Tony will be weird, huh? Let us know how it goes and what you do! BTW, I LOVE the idea for Tony’s next workouts, “The Monster”

Lea - Good for you getting some rest! Take care of yourself, and you’ll be back to your old self before long!

Sandra - I know what you mean about the Legs and Back workout! It’s tough, but I don’t get DOMS. You KNOW I’ll be doing Cathe’s Legs and Glutes instead when my P90X is done! Do you think I’ll feel it the next day? LOL! I’m impressed that DH is still working the program and making gains! I’ll bet he’s feeling pretty good about himself. Is he ready to try the X yet? LOL! After doing YogaX, my DS said that some of the moves are, “physically impossible.”

Monica - How did Core Syn go for you? It’s one of my favorites, too! I really cranked out the stagger hands stacked feet push ups this time. (And Dreya went to her knees - interesting!) I’m also curious about the S&H series. I just ordered the Gym Styles and hope they fit the bill for life after P90X. Congratulations on the new cut! I always have a hard time getting a cut that makes me look good - my hair is pretty fine (meaning thin) and it’s hard to get something that looks really stylish.

Well, I'm off to get some breakfast for the little ones! BBL!
Steph

Good morning,

Doing some reading, drinking my 1st cup of coffee and will do KenpoX pretty soon. DH and I are going out on the desert with our dogs today. Will be riding in our Yamaha Rhino (think golf cart on steroids). Really looking forward to "airing out". Tomorrow is the bike ride and I will get to bed earlier for that one.

Traci, I am sooooo excited and curious as to how your weight workout will go today. You are like the guinea pig here. The world is waiting to hear... Hope it's a very, very successful workout for you.

Tracy, you are soo, soo close! Bet you crush Core Syn today. Your right about the "same" not being good. Just when I think I've fooled my body and found the secret, BAM, it figures it out and adapts. Keeps us on our toes, doesn't it?

Stephanie, it's amazing how cutting out one little indulgence that we thought was okay will help. The right eating is so much of the equation here. It's been 2 days now that I've cut out that 2nd serving of carbs and already feeling leaner, (though TTOM is right around the corner). I'm also hungrier in the evening that for me, is a good thing as long as I don't go with it and eat everything in the house. What a shocker, when you think, hey, I'm looking pretty good and stepping on that scale and finding out differently. I would have freaked out myself. But if your clothes aren't fitting tighter, then I'll bet it's some muscle and some water weight. Pikes on the ball, I can do them, but really struggle after the bicep work in Pyramid Upper Body. Sometimes, I do Biceps first in the routine so that my arms aren't so exhausted for the ab work on the ball at the end. That is one workout I really want to try soon after P90X. I did like Sweat 5-6 okay. It's not the setting of P90X and the drills are only 30 seconds long and you repeat the sets of 3 or 4 exercises, maybe even repeat them like 3 times so not as much variety. Not as hard as Legs & Back either, but more of a cardio effect than leg effect. Little drills. It's a keeper for me though. The gal in it's name is Tracy. Maybe Tracy Morrow?

Got to go and get ready for KenpoX! Going to bring it good today!

Jeanette

Hey there X'ers!!

just my occassional fly by from the hardcords to see the progress of the P90xer's.

Steph...Don't freak out! I had the same experience and gained weight and freaked out just like you a few weeks ago. But guess what..I ended up measuring myself a few weeks later and found I had lost inches and forgot about the weight. I am still up a couple pounds but I fit into my skinny clothes. I can't figure it out myself, but don't stress the scale, I figure you are exchanging muscle for fat! Don't give up!! I'm going into week 10 with Jeanette...

Traci! WOWSY...that is amazing results. Congrats!! the jean sizes wow! YOU BROUGHT IT AND WON!!!!

Oh and I had to laugh when I put in chest and back this week after a 4 week hiatus...guess what I heard:
"she flies through the air with the greatest of ease" LOL

Keep it up amazing ladies!

Good morning again,

Classic/Phase 3/Week 1/Day 6

Just finished KenpoX and finished my oatmeal too. Have to take a shower and get ready for our little outing to the desert with the girls. KenpoX was good for me, enjoyed it a lot.

Amber, sounds like your P90X is going well for you. Glad you checked in here. I read the Hardcores all the time, just don't have time to respond with personals. Dallys is really getting into the cycling thing. Wish I lived closer to she and Suz so we could ride. You're right, Traci got amazing results and she worked very hard for them, plus provided a megaton of support for us too. Your Mexico trip is going to be so much fun!

Got to go now,

Jeanette

Hi -

Traci, just to let you know I posted my measurements on the January starters thread. Okay, I didn't do badly. I can't believe the size of my waist!!!!!! I never realized how proportionately huge it is! I guess I'm not an "hourglass". (lol)

Have a great day!!! What an active thread you girls have going over here.

Nancy

Hi all,

I'm one step closer. I just finished core syn and really felt like I brought it as best as I could. I'll do yoga after I run some errands and then I'll be done. I really do think that I am acclimating to these workouts and it is time for a change. I did figure out that the dreya rolls, which I can't do unassisted, are easier if you spread your feet apart. I could do a few that way, but my back didn't feel good so I went back to the assisted ones. Jeanette, 20 unassisted just still amazes me. That is so great!

Jeanette - Hope kenpo x went well. I think I'll miss that one. So many ways to improve.

Stephanie - When I read your description of the scale incident I thought how sometimes we just sabbotage ourselves. I have so been there, that's why I don't do the scale. I was a slave to it for years. I think I'd just ride it out and drink the water etc. Remember muscles do retain water when they are being worked hard. Everytime I cut calories when I think I'm looking bigger I end up with no energy or sick.

Amber - Glad you checked in. Sorry about your health issues (I lurk on the maniacs!). I hope they find out what it is. My mother had chronic hives for 5 years. She went to every doctor she could find and no one had an answer. It went away just like it came; suddenly.

Sandra - I just remembered your comment about hitting peri or was it menopause when your girls hit their teens. That really could be a difficult combination. Boys are sooooo much easier.

BBL,

Tracy

hi girls!!

Hope you are all having great weekends....I never got off the couch yesterday, so no workout for me. I just felt beat all day...couldn't really put my finger on what was wrong. I don't know if is a bit of overtraining, or ttom, or what. I have a lot going on personally right now, so maybe it's just mental. I promised myself I would crawl out of my hidey hole today. Anyhoo, got a good night's sleep last night and so far so good this morning! I did Rythmic Step and some Cathe abs...Since I also ate all day yesterday, I thought a little cardio should be in order. I have Ch-Sh-Tris on the books tomorrow as I start week 10..Woo-Hoo!!

Don't have time for personals right now...we actually have a showing on our house in a few minutes...Keep your fingers crossed for us that it goes well...I am REALLY ready to move!

Just want to say congrats to all of the upcoming X grads! You guys are awesome!! I hope you are all feeling very accomplished (and thin and strong!). Have a great weekend everyone...will bbl...

Hi guys... I'll be back (after I eat lunch) for personals... I just had to share that I AM SO SAD..REALLY SERIOUSLY SAD.:( I did Amy Bento & Cathe today for Chest & Shoulder work, got a terrific burn going on, used 15's for everything (my heaviest & my count not theres) ... I just feel like I've lost my best friend tho.:( Something about Tony truely inspired me to dig deep & do more than I ever believed I could do ... its hard to put my finger on it, but I really am very sad. Silly isnt it? I was tempted to just throw out my new rotation and go to Master Series for strength work but I know thats not good for my body right now. Cathe & Amy do very unique moves/equipment that obviously, by my burn, I needed to shake things up. I will stick with it for a full 8 weeks as planned and see how I feel from that point. Just wanted all you guys to know that the next time you cuss at Tony remember that you might just miss him too!! Be nice to my Tony!!!:D
Also warmed up with BM2 Step only.
Back after I eat & get this blood sugar leveled out...

Hey X'ers!

Just wanted to pop in and see how you all are doing and say that today I was able to do 5 partial chin ups - but they were chin downs I guess. Last time I posted about it I could sort of do them, but today I assisted up and then lowered myself ALL THE WAY DOWN to straight arms SLOWLY five times. BUT, I can't get myself back up. Darn it! I'll keep trying. I can still do "jump ups" - which means I can push off and then kind of jump the rest of the way up unassisted. I'm thinking this doesn't count. :)

I missed yesterday's workout so today I did Legs & Back, Ab Ripper, Kenpo X and then Cardio Coach 5. Yup, I was tired at the end but it felt good. DH and I are headed to the hot tub now.

Jeanette - I'm hoping we can talk Dallys into joining you when you come to visit this summer. She's not THAT far away! Then we can all ride together. We can even mountain bike. Won't that be fun?

DH and the hot tub are calling. I hope you all have a great day!

Hi all,

Not a graduate yet, but in an hour and half I will be.

Traci - Your comment about Tony and his ability to motivate got me to thinking. I don't own any strength workouts where the instructor is motivating like Tony. It's always a complete all the reps with perfect form and everything is perfect blah..blah...blahhhhh.....
I wonder if that is part of the reason why so many of us had plateaued? I know I'm going to have to dig deep to keep up the "Tony attitude" but I know if I don't I'll fall back into the same old trap of what I was doing before. This recovery week has been great, and I guess done exactly what it's supposed to do because I can't wait to hit the heavy weights again. I'm doing ch & back on my own to my own music. I'll let you all now how that goes.

Suz, Great progress on the chin ups. Not that I'm a chin up expert, but I could do 8 unassisted, which was quite an accomplishment for me. No assist on the negative is one modification I used, plus if I use a one leg assist, I always change legs when my chin is at the bar, so it forced me to hold myself there for a second or two. Have you tried pushing what ever you use to assist further out in front of the bar? That is harder. I always stayed at about 12 reps and did minimal assists until I had to go to using two feet. I can't wait to get back to doing chin ups again!

Tracy

Hi girls-

It's official - I weighed in at 119 at WW so I guess my scale is up to snuff. I ordered the cheapo fat caliper from Amazon thanks to your recommendation, Traci. I'm looking forward to getting it.

Traci, I still have a way to go (only on week 5 now) but my plan is to do Fitnessfreak's January rotation when I'm done with this and then go right back to Tony and maybe do the lean rotation. It looks good - more weight than cardio - and I have all of them. I think I like following a rotation as it's been keeping me motivated (or is it just Tony). I do love him too.

Okay, thanks for the congrats. I'm really going to try to watch my eating more closely. I wish I didn't have to cook for my family too as I think I could do really well.

Have a good night!!!

Nancy

CL/PH3/WEEK1/Day6: KenpoX

Ha ha! I'm finally here! And I feel fabulous. This morning I felt like doggy-doo. This bug I've got still has me feeling tired, half-congested, and mildly nauseous. Not enough to warrant a day on the couch with no responsibilities; just enough to make me feel ugh while still having to do all of life's stuff. So I took a hit of cough syrup (woohoo), and plugged in KenpoX. Put on the weighted gloves. Got a workout! Then plugged in KickMax Blast Challenge. Had a ball. There's no doubt that ARX and YogaX have strengthened my hip flexors and core significantly, and it's reflected in my stamina during that blast. Very satisfying.

Traci - Oh!! I'm so sorry you feel so sad about your new workouts!!! That's not good! Seriously, if you miss Tony's workouts that much, then just DO them! Gosh, there's no reason to stop, if you're enjoying it so much. I would suggest you do the Masters Series for a week or two - subbing some Cathes and whatever else when you want to, then start using P90X weight workouts again.
Combine them with either P90X cardios, or other cardios of your choosing. Use the P90X workouts, in a rotation of your own design. Or....dare I say it....start P90X over again? Personally I know I'm going to be ready to put P90X away for a long time when I'm done, but that's just for my mental health. Physically, if you can handle it, then keep using 'em!! Just because you created that beaut of a rotation, you don't have to do it. Nobody's going to come to your house and arrest you. Don't be sad! No reason for that!

Thanks to everyone yesterday who responded about my Legs & Back question. I suppose everyone is different, but I've never been able to relate to those who talk about leg workouts adding bulk. I get great definition from going heavier, but not bulk. And if P90X slims the legs by reducing muscle size, then I'd rather not take that approach. I love defined leg muscles. It's crossing my mind that I might add some of Cathe's standing leg workouts after PlyoX on Tuesdays. Do Leaner Legs one week, Legs& Glutes the next, then Butts & Gutts (without the floor work, but with the bonus standing leg work). I'd do PLB, but I find that one as much of a shoulder workout as a leg workout! Like Tracy, I can go pretty heavy with the barbell, and all that over-the-head lifting works the shoulders quite well.

Steph - Ha ha about DH being ready for the X yet! NO! He's only in his 2nd week of P90 phase 1. He is making good progress, though, and I'm really proud of him. EXCELLENT job with the no-candy-bar day! Dropping such a pleasurable habit can be so difficult. The new denims sound really funky. Fun.

Jeanette - I hope your trip to the desert was as enjoyable as it sounds. NICE. DH won't be riding outdoors until probably May. We have long, snowy, very cold winters here. The cycling season is very short: May-ish to (if we're lucky) October. But he's ready to start tackling a Spinerval this week, he says. So, we'll get him on that. How was KenpoX today? Good luck with your ride tomorrow!

Nancy - I have a proportionately large waist, too. Frustrates the heck out of me. Haven't seen it get smaller from doing P90X, either ;( I see more definition, though :)

TRACY!!! SO CLOSE!!! Enjoy that yoga! Yes, both genders have their pros and their cons, don't they? Personally, I don't look forward to paying for all of those feminine products LOL!

Debra - hi there. I hope the showing goes well. Why are you moving? RS - fun choreography.

Suz - Holy Long-Workouts Batman!!! That hot tub is a well-deserved recovery!! Great progress on the chin-downs. Keep at it, and you will eventually start being able to do it (I managed to do 10 unassisted during my Legs&Back workout y-day, and couldn't do a single one 9 weeks ago. I took the same approach as you're doing).

Well, the family is going out now for a rare treat: dinner at a restaurant! Have a good evening. Traci, I hope you feel better soon ((((((((Traci))))))).

Cheers,
Sandra

Happy Saturday Evening X’ers!

Tracy; CONGRATULATIONS!!! A GRAD! WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome job the entire way thru & especially your mega marathon today!! I am so happy for you. Cant wait to hear what you’ve cooked up for Chest & Back tomorrow! We’ll figure this out with a little trial & error I’m sure. Enjoy your evening and celebrate! Oh yes, On the leg theory… I think you are as educated as any “scientific study”.. you’re the real deal and seem to have gotten a great handle on how things do & don’t work w/ this weight stuff.. You’re our resident expert & I for one am thrilled to have your input!

SUZ: Way to go on the chin up progress! You must feel like a wonder woman! Hot Tubbing it sounds awesome for those muscles! A little wine to go with it perhaps?

DEBRA: No worries on couch potato yesterday, sometimes that is just what the Dr ordered! I have been holding SELL SELL SELL vibes all day for you! Great job w/ RS & Abs today!

Jeanette: ^^5 on getting Kenpo checked off the calendar! Hope the desert hike was pure BLISS! Whats DH’s workout schedule this weekend? Hope I didn’t scare ya with all my miss Tony whining today!

Lea- Planning your SuperBowl Party? (Go BEARS!)

Great night to all!! See ya bright and early-

Hello again,
DH and I had a great time out on the desert with the dogs. It was a beautiful day, probably in the 50's, which is warm for us right now. We stopped at a natural spring and cooked some chili and wienies over a gas stove, also chips and Snapple Tea. So much for clean eating. We then packed up and drove to another really neat area out on the desert with a large grove of old cottonwood trees. Bet they were over 100 years old. Someone planted them out in the middle of the desert. No homestead around them. Kind of eerie. Wish I knew the story. Anyway, it was a wonderful day. Looking forward to tomorrow's bike ride. Should be in the 70's woohoo!!! From balaclava one weekend to bikini (yeah, right!) er bike shorts and sleeveless jersey!!! Can't wait to feel the warmness on my legs!

Nancy, way to go on your measurements! You are doing awesome. Hey, I've only done YogaX once. It's the only one that I haven't been consistent with, but I sub other yoga routines instead. I'll have to check out Fitness Freak's January rotation. I love her rotations and have had good results with them in the past.

Tracy, yaaaaay, you finished Core Syn! You are almost there!! I did a triathlon this summer (minus the swim, short story there), and when I finished, you ran through this gauntlet of people and banners and cheering. It was so fun! Wish we had that for you guys as you each finish.

Debra, hey, if it doesn't feel right, do something that feels better. Glad you got RS and some abs in. I like RS a lot. DH says it sounds like circus music. Hope you are back to your old self soon.

Traci, so sorry to hear about your Tony withdrawal...hmmm that sounds kind of nasty. Was it tough to lift to your own cadence? Maybe you should throw in some of the Masters DVD's with your new rotation, or some of P90X weight work here and there. I know it will get better for you. Did you find you could lift heavier though? I need to get a plan written down for DH for this week. I'd better not be wishy washy cuz that's not what he needs. Glad you reminded me.

Suz, sounds like you are improving on your chin downs. I'm a loser myself, I haven't even tried. Yep, Dallys needs to come and ride with us, hey road or mtn., whatever it will be fun for sure. Hot tub, oh wow! I'm so filthy right now from all the dust from our desert Rhino ride, my hair is totally gray. I need to jump in the shower.

Sandra, sounds like you nailed KenpoX big time AND added on more. Me, I just did KenpoX, no more, no less. The desert ride was fabulous and I took lots of pictures, which I just loaded on the computer and showed to DH. He had a great time today too. We both needed to "air out". We love camping together so much. Can't wait till warmer weather comes. We try to go to the desert more in the early spring as a bit later than that and the no seeums come out and drive you away. They call those things buffalo gnats around here and they get in your hair and ears. Nothing works against them. Which Spinervals does your DH have? I only have a few of them.

Will get to bed a little earlier tonite as I'll be up at 4:30 to get ready for the out of town bike ride. Should be a blast! My Ironman friend (lady) will be traveling down with me to the valley. She'll be doing an Ironman competition at Lake Placid this July. Hopefully, she'll qualify for Kona in the fall. She qualified 2 or 3 years ago.

Jeanette

Jeanette...You crazy woman....go to bed!!! You have a 60 mile ride in the morning!!!! Glad you had a great time with the pups and your DH...sounds like a great day...

Hope the rest of you are fast asleep....I am always up late...I just can't help it!! It's incredibly cold here today...Wind chills in the minus 20s....Nice, hunh?

Anyway, sleep tight princesses! Will be back with personals tomorrow!
