Xers...Memorial Day...Monday

Cathlete
Hi all,

I hope that everyone in the US is enjoying the holiday and Sandra I hope you are enjoying your Monday. Is it a regular day there?

Tracy

Happy Monday
Quick check in to say today is a wash out so we'll head home to more rain early afternoon... Got a few hours of fishing in yesterday but nothing I caught was legal size. Still it was nice to be out on the boat.

Will get GS Legs done at some point today.

Congrats to all who finished paint projects!

Sending out thoughts of gratitude to all who Memorial Day is really about...

Back once we are home and settled

Hi all,

Yesterday I really didn't want to run, but did anyways because it was a cardio day and I didn't want to do step. I had the best run I've had yet, and actually had the dogs cantering instead of trotting, so I was moving along quite quickly. I was going to walk the last mile because I didn't want to push it, and then I heard some thunder. I run in the woods along a river and I got caught down there once before in a thunder/lightning storm and it was so scary. So I ended up running the last mile, and got out just before it got really nasty. Then I got home and the power was out and I had to take a sponge bath because we had no water. Luckily my laptop was charged and I was able to use it to do my yoga.

I'm not sure what I'm doing today except for yoga. It was supposed to be a leg day, but the legs are a little tight from the run yesterday.

Traci - Sorry you are rained out. Send some this way. If we don't get some soon it is going to be an ugly summer.

Debra - I have had great results with holding my abs in during the day; zipping.

Amy - How do you find time to plan all of those meals?

I'd better get going. I need to clean a little and finish up in the bathroom.

Tracy

Hi there ladies! I ended up doing a fast walk on the treadmill yesterday...I felt like I really needed to loosen my legs a bit since I had a LOT of DOMS from my willPower and Grace dvd the day before...and let me just add that I STILL have DOMS in my hammies today...I guess between all the squats and the 10 minute bridge, I got a pretty good workout! I also did SH tris and abs after my pool time yesterday. I have SH chest today, but I am not sure what else I am going to do...my legs are still very stiff and sore...so I will sit around and think about it for a while. It's cloudy here today, so no pool...unless it clears up later.

Tracy...Sounds like you had a great run yesterday...and your pups got a good workout too! I thought of you yesterday while I was holding in my tummy at the pool...I practiced my zipping!! I am hoping you guys have power today...and good luck finishing that bathroom. Your eggs Chesapeake sounds wonderful!! I can't wait to get closer to good seafood!

Traci...Sorry you guys are getting rained out! And no big fish either...bummer! Have a safe ride back home.

Sandra....How did you know that Eva and I are twins?!? Hope you had a great picnic yesterday....sounds like you girls had a good plan for your Sunday afternoon. Glad all of that clean living is paying off so that your bug left fast!

Nicole...Hope you had a nice rest day yesterday...And congrats for getting lots of money for your phones. Are you buying new workout videos with your windfall?!? Or saving it for vacation?

Cheryl...Congrats on your business doing so well. Glad you enjoyed PUB yesterday...I always have DOMS in my chest after that one! I dreamt last night that I ran 10 miles...really, I just remembered it...And I know it was a dream, since there is NO WAY I could ever run that far! LOL

Wendy...I am guessing you just fell asleep on the floor as you were painting and that is why you never came back to visit. Hope you are not working yourself into a frenzy this weekend...How much longer do you guys have until your project should be complete? I saw your girls new linens at Linen N Things Saturday and thought of you!

Amy...Hope you are well...I wish I had as much discipline as you do with your eating. I have 3 pounds I would really like to shed before moving and vacation....which isn't a lot I know, but it seems I always battle with those pounds...My body really wants to keep them on, but I want them to be gone! Glad you enjoyed SB yesterday.

Okay..gotta go for now...I am planning on getting some laundry done today.

Good morning!! (I had to retype that 4 times because my fingers are firing in all directions this morning). I'm wishing all you 'Merkins a brilliant Memorial Day. I was watching CNN's Robin in the Morning today, and of course the focus of the program was on veterans, soldiers currently in Iraq, and their families. Do any of you have veterans in your family, or currently active soldiers?

How come I can't meet anyone in real life who is as dedicated to fitness as you guys are? I wish I had real life friends half as interested in exercise aXs this group.

TracyX - exercising without electricity...see what I mean about dedication? I love it! And the run sounds very enjoyable. I can see why you wouldn't want to be in the woods by the river durin`g a thunderstorm, though. That would probably get pretty intense. We don't get good thunder-boomers here, and I miss them. Yesterday we got one rumble of thunder, and that was it for the big storm they were forcasting all week. Most disappointing.

TraciX - I'm sorry your weekend was a wash out, and you don't even have any fish to eat. Have a safe trip home. Again, your determination to do GS Legs today impresses me; most people wouldn't prioritize their exercise that highly, especially when slow-count lunges are involved!

Oops, I have to go do some Mommy stuff, and will be back shortly to finish the message.

Hi, everyone!

Sandra, you'd have to travel far to find as many fitness nuts as you know here. We're infamous :)

Tracy, glad you got that run finished before the thunder arrived. No fun!

Debra, yes, I have nice chest DOMS from PUB going today. Love that PUB. Have fun with SH Chest. That's ambitious!

Traci, did I hear you say GS Legs? Yowza! I'm liking it better and better but it still gives me multiple days of DOMS. Guess that means it's working, eh?

Still deciding what to do for my workout and it's nearly midday. It will be cardio of some kind. Then a nice date with DH :) :) :)

Have a great holiday afternoon, everyone!

Cheryl

Back again,

DD#2 is entering high-maintenance mode. When she gets it stuck in her head that she wants to do something, she's like a dog with a bone. She's not the easily distracted baby any longer, but the Tenacious Toddler. I actually have to spend time with her these days!

DebraX - do you really hold bridge for 10 mins in that workout?? I really enjoy bridge, but that would do me in for sure! I knew you and Eva were twins because you type exactly the same. How's DD's ankle? LOL about your ab workout yesterday! Maybe you should wear a bikini every day.

Cheryl - are you doing any P90X workouts these days, or have you gone back to Cathe? PUB is a great workout. How long does it take you to run 10 miles? Enjoy your date with DH! How far do I have to go to meet more fitness nuts? I would have liked to have gone on the RT this year, but as you probably know, it sold out in the click of a mouse button. Are you going?

TraciX - The way you described it yesterday, it does indeed appear that I have a good life and a good husband. As far as DH's go, I couldn't ask for better. Well, there's always something about them we'd love to change, isn't there? I love the idea of your office becoming your workout room! You know, when you get your certificate and start your business, you will need an office/workout room. It looks much more professional. Even if your clients don't come to your house, there's all that Feng Shui stuff that will come into play. You'll be better at your job if you have the appropriate work space. Tell that to DH, I know he'll happily remove the gun case.

Nicole - Well, how cool is that to make $180 off your free gift phones? Very nice! Use it to buy Cathe's new workouts. The presale should be starting some time within the next 12 months....

TracyX - I'm really looking forward to the Fluidity dvd. I know when I did Shakti's Solar Flow 2 yesterday that my form could have been better in much of it. But like you said, familiarity will allow me to centre in on the finer points better. How well do you do all of her arm balancing postures? I'm terrible at those. I know a key part of those is engaging the core, but the core obviously has to be strong enough to begin with.

Wendy - It's good you don't live in the far north, with 24 hours of sunlight. You'd never take a break. Come to think of it, you probably shouldn't live here, either. The sun these days is up by 5am, and setting around 10pm. By mid-june, it will be rising by 4-ish and setting by 11-ish. Of course, we get just as much darkness by mid-December, but I try to ignore that fact in the summer when it seems like the days go on forever.

Amy - I appear to have missed something about your knee and an MRI! When does that happen? How did you injure the joint? Your daily diet has a ton of veggies and fruit, which is great. I'll bet you're happy to be able to eat more than one piece of fruit a day! I know I am.

This morning I did PS CST, and Pilates QuickFix Abs segment 3. Cathe's muscles sure are smaller in that series than in her recent ones. You can tell she's really made some gains in the past decade. But of course, she still looked terrific.

I got on the scale this morning and my weight is up 3 pounds from last Monday. My eating has not been out of control, or even anything terrible. I have to think this is bloat and water weight. I lifted heavy last week with the Gym Styles, whereas for the previous 3 weeks I was doing more maintenance lifting. I'm now thinking that maybe if I am serious about wanting to slim down, I've got to stop doing the heavy lifting and focus on "endurance" type stuff. Waaaah!! I love the GS series. But I also love cardio/weight circuits. Argh. I'll do the other half of PS upper body on Thursday, then maybe plan a few weeks of endurance and circuit workouts and see if things change. This might be a great excuse to order the Squeeze workout everyone is raving about.

I have to do housework today. ;( ;( ;( ;( ;( ;( ;(

Have a good afternoon,
SandraX

Sandra, 3 of my fellow YaYa's are starting a P90X Lean rotation on Saturday, June 2. I might try to incorporate as many Tony's as I can possibly make myself do alongside them... that's what I'm thinking right now. I just can't give up my Cathe's for longer than a day or two without losing motivation!

Yes, I'm going on the RT. Where do you live? Would you be close enough to join up for one of the evenings maybe just for fun?

I ended up settling on IMAX 2 for today. Just right. A good ol' Cathe drip on the step workout for me }( }( }( Will add on a few abs and call it a day.

Love that GS series. It's the best!

Have a great afternoon, everyone!
Cheryl

Good Afternoon, ladies!

Traci- I am sorry that you didn't get your full weekend at the bay! I hope that you had a good trip back!

Sandra- Yes, I am super happy to be able to eat more than 1 fruit a day! So far (keeping fingers and toes crossed) I haven't had any bad cravings for carbs either (since last Friday). I may have forgotten to post, or it may be an extension of an earlier conversation, I don't remember. Anyway, about 3-4 wks ago, my right knee started clicking really loud...NOT in a normal joint crack way, though. Also, last December, my left knee was hurting me, but that's gone away. Anyway, I went to my doc a couple of weeks ago and she said that just to be on the safe side to check for soft tissue damage with an MRI, which will be next week. Sorry about the weight!

Still a bit groggy in the brain, but I wanted to say 'hi' to everyone else who shows up!

Tracy- I actually don't plan all the meals to a "T"...I make sure all the stuff is in the fridge and when I go to pack my lunch, I take them all out and throw them together then! It's the same premise that I have been following for the last 6 months or so, but just in different ratios, but as long as I have those ratios written out, it's just a matter of tossing and going.:p

Classic: Phase 2/ Week 8/ Day 1/ Round 1

Chest Shoulders & Triceps + ARX

I enjoy this workout once I start but I dread doing all of the complicated push-ups. My arms are very defined but larger than I'd like so I'm looking forward to recovery week. I've decided to do recovery week as planned and do treadmill and weiht work while on vacation. I will start back with the rotation when I get back. I'm afraid I'll get really bulky if I do another week of this phase. I ope everyone is enjoying a nice holiday sans SandraX who enjoyed one last week:)

Debra, LOL! Holding your stomach in for a long period of time could be considered endurance exercise:) I'm saving my $ for vacation. I didn't expect to make money off of purchasing a new phone for myself but I'll take it!

Wendy, You are a mad woman! You have to have the finest looking house in town! We miss you. I know it takes a lot of time to do personals and I myself have been trying to cut down on computer time.

Amy, Sounds like you have your eating on track, way to go!

Tracy, Glad you were able to escape the storm. It must have been perfect weather prior to that to run outside. I wish I had a place to run. The beach is 40 minutes away so none of that for me and the mountains are n my backyard but no trails are close.

SandraX, I know what you mean by wanting to have friends as interested in fitness as everyine on this check-in. Most of my family and friends think I'm obsessed and don't understand how a person can enjoy working out so much. My 2 year-old is the same way with me. He wants so much more attention at this age. He is napping right now and DH and sons are outside playing. It's the only way I get a chance to be on the computer:) I used Minna Lessig's One Minute Workout for about six months straight and everyone commented on the leanness and definition in my arms. I made gains with that DVD so I started lifting heavier with Cathe and now my rms are bigger. I don't know why I switched. It is more of an endurance workout. I think I'll try that method again after I finish my rotation.

Traci-X, Glad you had a nice weekend at the bay. I'm sure you're looking forward to being back home and getting back to the regular routine. I think that's why everyone has been MIA. Holiday weekends are killers.

Cheryl, You'll have to let me know how thw lean rotation goes. If it works for you, I may try that next:)

I'll see you all tomorrow:):9:eek:

Good evening ladies! Hope everyone has had an enjoyable Memorial day and weekend. I ended up doing SH chest today and one part of Stretch Max...My legs and buttocks were just too sore to do anything else! I should get back to more cardio tomorrow...Hoping to get a ride in, but I have a hair and pedi appointment in the morning.

Sandra....Hope you got that crazy toddler in line today! I am sure you don't hold bridge for 10 minutes...but it certainly seemed that long. And didn't you know, as Eva's twin I must do lots of stand-ins for her, so I wear a bikini almost everyday. I have been thinking about your post, and gaining the 3 pounds this week...You said that you want to "slim down" so you may need to go to lighter weights...Is that just because you are looking for a certain number on the scale or because you feel you bulk up too much with heavier weights? I guess, the reason I ask is that I have really seen some good results over the past 3 weeks by using Slow and Heavy one body part a day...I have one more week on this rotation before I will be taking a break for moving and vacation. I just want to add, too, that I have only been doing cardio 3 times a week or so. I know how hard it is to not look at the scale....I myself have 3 pounds that I would really like to see gone...Anyway, just some food (maybe that's not the right word..lol) for thought!

Nicole....Glad you liked CST once you got into it today. I gotta tell you I do not miss doing a gazillion push ups! When do you start vacation? I know you must be looking forward to that. And, if you have the time, read my post to Sandra above regarding heavier weights.

Cheryl...Have a great time on your date with DH tonight! Glad you enjoyed Imax 2 today...that is always a fun one. I didn't realize you were going on the RT....I am so jealous!

Amy....I am assuming you are headed to work tonight...Hope you have a nice evening. Hope your MRI shows nothing serious with the knee.

Okay...I think that is it for now....hope all of you ladies who have been MIA this weekend had a great time with your friends and family!
