Xers Making It Work Wednesday

Well HELLO dear friends Xers. It's been almost a week, well not quite since my last post. I did bring my laptop with me but my wireless is not working...got to see those "geek squad" guys at Best Buys and I forgot my password, so I could not login from DD's laptop. I finally got a new password today.
Well I can't remember where I left my "coming back welcome issues" but I ended up having to rent a car to drive to Pittsburgh. AAA took my car to the wrong garage and it ended up not being ready when I needed to leave Detroit.
Well DD is really appreciative that mommy is here. She is stressed out to the limit so she appreciates that she's coming home to a nice meal and not an empty appartment. And poor her... she has shows this weekend in which she is dancing a lot and guess what... she came home yesterday with a sprained muscle in the neck, coming down into the back. She could barely move her head yesterday. She was going to see a therapist this morning. I hope she will be better. She said she was going to perform no matter what... but it can make things so much worse...x(
At first I was supposed to stay only until Tuesday but actually Monday morning just before leaving, she brooke a coffee mug and just lost it... so I decided to stay until the weekend. I had to drive back Saturday for the show anyway. DH will simply come and join me on Friday. Saves me 5 hours of driving each way...;(
I managed to keep up with my w/o. I got a pass at the gym and they're pretty well equiped. They have a nice pull-up machine and a large room where I can do my cardio w/o with Cathe. I've dowloaded all the weight w/o on my I-Pod and it's working pretty well.
So I am in Phase 3, Week 1, Day 5: L&B + Abs. I had a pretty good w/o today but my shoulders are killing me... I had to increase the assistance on the pull-up machine as the left shoulder wanted to pop out... not good...x(

Some personals- I did not go all the way to Saturday to catch-up, so excuse me ladies...;-)

TraciX~~ Well I don't mind being the am lady when I am in Europe. Although I'm cheating as I am 6 hours ahead of here in the midwest. But when I go to bed with DD at 1 or 2 am, there's no way I'll be up at 5 or 6 to start us up...}( ... I find it quite interesting about the theory of w/o the backside 2ce more than the front. This is what's so great abouth this group... so much information:+

Wendi~~ Well it's a good idea to ease up into your w/o. But I bet it feels good to fell those muscles working.:p You are so right about the designers making clothes sized different than years ago. It's called vanity sizing...:+ But still size 00. Gosh I'll never get there. I'm a 2 or 4 and that's about as low as I'll ever go.;)

Debra~~ It is certainly not normal to be so tired all the time. I hope they can figure out what it is you have and treat you accordingly. I will talk with DH when I see him this weekend about the retreat timing. If I am not going with him (I think it was Turkey) I would love to come and meet you all...:9

Sandra~~ I hope DD fells better...:) Congratulations about your great success with the Phase 3 diet. I never followed that phase. Although I am eating pretty well, I am not really following a precise diet as I've been too much "on the road" lately. But my weight is the best it's ever been since... well before I had the children...:+ I am only 2 lbs away from my prenatal weight... and I'm perfectly happy. I just need to get the BF down some more.

Traci~~ I am glad you are feeling better.:+

Teddygirl~~ HUM... that soup sounds sooooo good.:p

Jeanette~~ Well I have to agree with the girls... that's an awful lot of cardio, but it seems that you've came up with some modifications to tone it down some...

Lea~~ Yoga is excellent as we all know. Have you also considered Pilates done with a flex band, adding some resistance to the w/o? You can have a decent strenght w/o this way. Having gone through the exact same pain as yours, I think floorwork could be too much. You need a strong core to maintain the correct positions when on all four and your back might still be too weak for that yet. Try to do a lot of bridge work, first simply from the floor and then you can do it from a stability ball.

Laurie~~ So you had bad weather yesterday too? I ended up not going anywhere as the weather here in Pittsburgh was bad. They were saying not to go out if you didn't have to. I had Yoga so I was OK.

Nicole~~ It seems like you have so much on your mind lately. I did not go too far back in the posts, but these "friends" may not be "friends". You have enough to deal with your personal situation. I am glad however that you had a good talk with DH. Communication is the most critical thing into a good relationship and it cannot be a one way thing...

Hugs and kisses to all...;)

Back for a short chat before bed. I ended up doing PP upper x 3....which I definitely enjoy. I will definitely do KB tomorrow...probably from 4DS and if I am feeling super ambitious I will add on the leg segment. But maybe I am being a little too optimistic! I took a nap today since I for sure won't tomorrow since I must go to the grocery store and then I have DD's Valentine party...although if you can believe it, it is snowing here right now...so if it keeps up who knows if they will cancel school or not. They tend to over react here a bit...LOL!

personals...

Nicole....
CBL is coming over tomorrow night for fish and veggies....for V-day...and he was over last night with the dumplings....all good!! You silly thing, why would you worry about how much you weigh while you are with us???? We could care less about any of that stuff!!! Let's see...I have a head count of 6 plus me for the retreat so far. I will be sending out some personal email this week or next to get opinions on what everyone wants to do. I think most everyone is coming in on Thursday, too...which is great so that we get an extra day together. When is your friend moving to Washington? I am so glad that you and DH had a productive talk. I get so emotional (ie crying) when having those sort of discussions with whoever my significant other is...obviously it has been XDH for the past 14 years...But I see it happening with CBL already. I hate it when I cry like that...it is usually due to the strong emotions around the discussion. I also cry at commercials and songs..so obviously I have a bit of a problem with my water works!!

Laurie...
You snuck in on me this morning! Please let me know if it is okay for me to send you emails at work about our upcoming retreat or if you would rather get them at your home account....If you want them at home, please send me your home email address. Glad DD got all of her Valentine's done. It is such a big deal when you are that age...I typically don't pay too much attention to that holiday. Think of me tomorrow when I am there doing a craft project with the germ infested urchins. So glad it was sunny there today...I think it is supposed to clear up here tomorrow...and get up to 56...Jealous yet??

Wendy...
How sweet of Phil to let you fly....as long as you are flying into Greensboro, you really won't need a rental...We should have plenty of room! Hope you get lots of rest this evening....Are you still off your sleep schedule because of your travels? Or are you just going to get up every morning at 4 am??

Tracy...
LOL about wishing you ate MORE yesterday...I am usually wishing that I ate less! So obviously you didn't think the bands were as effective regular pull/chin ups. I actually thought about you today while I was doing what seemed like endless bb rows. My forearms were killing me!! Please just let me know your email address so that I can send out emails about the retreat...I don't have it on this computer.

Sandra...
I guess life kind of took over today and you didn't have time to get back. Hope that DD's germs are being held at bay!

Traci....
I was thinking about your front/back question today while doing PP. I was comping the weights I used to Cathe's...keeping in mind that I did x3 version. Today I was able to use the same # weights as her for tris, shoulders, chest, and for part of back...So the ones I was lacking on were bis and the back one arm rows...just throwing that out there...again more rambling...I feel like I should definitely do more back work....and I am a shrugger...I catch myself all the time (like now) hunching my shoulders. I would think that if my back muscles were more developed I would not do that...My muscles would pull my shoulders down a bit...who knows...Just more fodder!

Okay...I am really going to head to bed now...Hope everyone had a great day, and I will see you all in the morning!!

Debra

Good evening,
Wow, you guys have been pretty talkative today. A long day for me today. We did Cardio Coach #5 today at the Garage Boys session. They thought it was good. Of course I left when it was over, not sure what workout they were going to do afterwards. Now I feel like I need a rest from the bike, until Sunday anyway, which will be more of a steady state ride. Also made a pan of enchiladas for DH to take over to my folks on Friday night.

Traci, they did lock down the Main institution so my Alternatives To Violence program didn't happen. Also, one of the facilitators on the other yard got the flu so that program didn't happen either. I had a bad feeling all along about it. I put a big effort into the program and then when stuff happens beyond my control, well, I guess it all pays the same. Yep, influenza is raging here at the prison. Oh yeah, I had contact, even hugging the facilitator on Tuesday and now she's sick, sick, sick. Hope I dodge yet another bullet. I have that meeting next week, massage tomorrow, just no good time to be sick. LOL about frying to get rid of the slime.

Latrese, the Garage Boys is just a nickname for the fellas that do bike workouts (mostly Spinervals) in the garage during the winter when you can't get out on the road due to the cold. I did those workouts last winter with them 1 time per week. I've since upped it to 2, but now that the weather is getting warmer will try to get out on the road instead. Anyway, we all suffer together on our bikes that are hooked to trainers in the garage. Think there are 7 bikes set up.

Wendy, Netta is my nickname. My sisters and parents and a few people at work call me that. You can call me either. Actually Netta is short for "Netta Van Petta, banana fanna, ba netta, fee, fi, Vanetta" or some other little ditty that my dad had for me. He has nicknames for all of us 5 kids. My DH likes me to wear tighter jeans than what I like to wear. He likes me in western clothes, though I hardly ever wear them any more. For years, I was into horses and who knows, maybe will be again. I'll have to google espresso machines and find out what they do. Have I mentioned how much I enjoy coffee in the morning?

Debra, sorry about the scratchy throat. I am on the edge of one too, but it hasn't materialized yet. I've got DH finally trained to take the garbage out on Tuesday mornings, plus take the dumpster back to the house from the street. Glad you enjoyed the dumplings. What a sweetie CBL is! My DH loves to cook and it's a good thing. Actually, this pan of enchiladas I made tonite isn't half bad. Mom and Dad said DH should eat dinner with them on Friday. I may be a little late coming home from the massage/facial so asked DH to heat it up and take it over to my parents that night. We did Cardio Coach #5 tonite and think they liked it. Think they were surprised at the intensity. What did they expect? Some Richard Simmons workout? We did see the Beagle win Best of Show. He was a cute dog, though beagles are not one of my favorite breeds. Glad he got it as I think it's a first for a beagle to win it at Westminster. too funny about your cat. What a silly one she is. And howling too? Right now, Lexxie (our German Shorthair) is trying to tell DH she wants a treat that's up on the counter. She keeps nudging him and then walking over to the counter, and repeats it until he responds. We are the ones that are trained, I tell you. Now that I'm cutting back the cardio, I will have the time for yoga. I know I need it as I'm getting soooo stiff. Surely it will help my golf game too! I need all the help I can get in that arena.

Laurie, no studs on tires? Makes it tough to drive on ice. I don't have studs on my Jeep now, but have in the past. We get some big holes in the road too. Our local sawmill closed down about 5 years ago, so we have less wear and tear on the roads from the log trucks, but it's sad that they went out of business. We have very little industry here, the big employers are the 2 state prisons, and other government agencies. It is very difficult to get industry or business started in California, but will be the death of it all. So many companies moving out of state due to all of the rules and regs. Can't say I blame them, but where is the revenue going to come from?

Nicole, I'm so happy for you that you and your DH could get some productive talking in. Really looking forward to meeting you in April. Don't worry about your weight. I'm no size 00 myself or 2 or 4. However, I have nice teeth :7 . I'm getting more psyched about weight work now that I've wrapped my mind around doing less cardio, but only enough for my cycling. Your poor DS. Hope he gets better soon. Has to be miserable for him. Glad you are getting strong when it comes to LTF. Distancing from her sounds like a good idea to me. I'd be interested on hearing from others who were able to boost their metabolisms. Maybe I should post on the OD.

Tracy, sorry about the cough. I find sucking on a hard candy helps too.

Christiane, so glad to hear from you! I really hope that you can come to the retreat in April. I'm thinking this is going to be a special event! I'm one of those that loves cardio, but not necessarily heart thumping, off the chart cardio. I just love my step routines, makes me sad to have to cut down on them, but I need to keep the bike training up too. Great that you can stay with your DD for a while longer. Hope her back/neck starts feeling better soon.

It is so late now, 10:32 p.m. DH just went to bed so I'm signing off now.

Jeanette (Netta Van Petta)
