X'ers 1/4 THURSDAY

Back with personals for the day:

TRACY: I sure hope your body gets to feeling better soon. It is such a drag when mentally you're all set to go but the body has a different idea! My triceps started screaming this afternoon... could have been triceps yesterday and all that yoga today.

JEANETTE: I feel "spoiled" as well with an hour a day... marathon workouts are deeply engrained in me but I'm really willing to try the new concept of work hard- get in, get out! WAY TO GO! on stats!!!! I see great results in pics for 30 days! Your stats really are terrific!

DEB: Hope you enjoyed KPC today! It is nice seeing cathe & crew once in awhile isnt it?

X: Glad you are working your way successfully thru week 1! Take care of those DOMS

LEA: lol w/ your flying thru air & gorgeous! I swear I'm starting to talk just like Tony at home! Yes I am using BB recovery drink... bought enough to last a year I think as I only drink 1/2 of one after heavy workouts... YUMMY tho.... Reminds me of these places in CA when I was a kid called Orange Julius Stands...The same great orange ice cream taste!

DB: I love the workout logs as well... I will absolutely use for all my workouts in the future. Makes me take it to the next level each time. IMO GS & SH are both perfect to transition back to Cathe for awhile. I will probably make both of them more like P90 tho in terms of my personal reps VS keeping Cathes pace. That works for my body better it appears. I'll be doing the rotation FitnessFreak posted for this month when I'm done (at least thats todays plan!) Glad you have the scale thing in perspective... It really can be discouraging the entire first month depending on how your muscles are reacting to the intense wt work. Tape Measures are a girls best friend!

LAURIE: lol...you go girl! Its not so weird about your family / biceps... You should read some of our first posts 9 weeks ago! We were flexing fools around here! Hope you're starting to mend- colds are the worst!

MONICA: I adore stretch X & sounds like you did as well! As far as switching cardio/wts in doubles...I think you should always do the workout that you are most focused on during your strongest part of the day. Go for it!

BUFFY: There you are! YEAH!!!! Congrats on scale over holidays- major accomplishment! I know you'll get all caught up over weejend...just be careful w/ that shoulder! Its been awhile...are you going to see a DR?

JohnsWife: LOL on it seeming harder! I can tell thats how I'll feel in March when I strat round 2 as I already feel it in Phase 3 just knowing what each workout entails... some of them are mentally tough for me !

GAYLE: Very cool about your swimming lessons! Hope its an indoor pool!!! I agree on YOGA X - WOW... wasnt what I expected at all. FINALLY in Ph 3 I am starting to see improvement.

SANDRA: Last but NEVER LEAST! lolol Tony @ Dreyas.... I thought we were going o get to see a soap opera type love fest! Thanks for encouragement on planks. I noticed today in Yoga that I am much stronger than before P90X... I think my lower back must be getting stronger - is that considered part of the "core region"? BTW: The 1000.00 bill in my butt is a PERFECT visual! I'll be squeezing so hard I may get cramps! YOU ARE TOO MUCH!

See ya all in the AM!

LEAN/Phase 2/Week 1/Day 2
Good Afternoon, X’ers! Again, the check in totally busy! I probably won’t be able to post until afternoons, now that I’m back to work! I had a great workout last night with Core Syn, but still can’t do those darn Spinx Push ups! I’m even lousy at doing them on my knees! Haven’t seen any progress with those, and I slowed down the towel hopping considerably this time, but it didn’t exhaust me as badly as last time. I’m still panting like a rabid dog during the superman/banana/boat floor work and having to push off to go side to side. Do those ever get easier? Tonight it’s CardioX. I have been subbing PlyoX, but tonight is DS basketball game so I’ll probably feel like going a little lighter.

Traci – My core is probably my weakest area, so I agree with you on Core Syn. Even so, I still LOVE the workout! It still makes time go so fast! I’m really liking the LEAN rotation, although I haven’t seen much in the way of results yet. I’ll wait until after Phase 2 to see if it’s helping in any way. I noticed JohnsWife had done the LEAN rotation and got good results. I’m about halfway between lean and not so lean, so I want to get leaner, of course. BTW, when you start the next P90X rotation, I plan on doing the Classic then, so I’ll be able to see what difference it makes for me. Is Classic a lot harder, do you think? It’s funny how we think ahead about getting our workouts in. I do the same thing! I think I would rather work out at midnight than get off track with my P90X! Crazy! Great work doing your two work outs in one day! You have my utmost admiration!

Tracy – I love Shoulders and Arms. It sounds like you were challenged on the Swimmer’s Press. Just curious, do you remember what weight you used? I didn’t think I pushed myself hard enough on those because I didn’t find them too challenging last time. I’m glad I have another fellow evening workout buddy. I’m tired at the end of the day, but at least my body’s already been moving and warmed up.

Jeanette – I just have to say that your pictures look so great! If you haven’t noticed much progress, you must have looked terrific before P90X! I wish my core area look as good! Glad to hear your DH is sticking with this – I bet it’s fun having a workout partner.

Deb B – I think I need another Cathe fix too, but I have done KPC so many times that it’s the one that really too familiar right now. I wish she would come out with more kickboxing workouts. Is that in the works for future workouts?

X – Funny about your DH sweating, grunting, and groaning with his workout. I’m trying to do Dreya form, too, and she’s all calm and collected.

Lea – Thanks for the encouragement on IMAX 3. I will definitely be getting this with my Gym Styles when my P90X is complete. Congratulations on the plie jacks. Those always kill me in IMAX 1! The stronger legs must make a difference.

DB – Let me know if you’re doing something with Gym Styles after P90X. I found one of Cathe’s rotations (was it January?) that looked interesting while incorporating a lot of the Gym Styles. Let me know what you decide, because I’m thinking about what to do next, as well.

Laurie – LOL about your family feeling your biceps! I do the same thing, in addition to flexing them around the house and telling them to “Look at that!” all the time. I’m especially proud of my biceps, but not so much my core or legs.

Monica – Sounds like you’re enjoying your recovery week. I was sorry to see mine end, but I’m fired up for Phase 2! Sounds like a lot of changes will be headed our way, huh? Doing doubles sounds ambitious! Let us know what kind of results you see if you decide to go that route.

Buffy – Don’t you love it when you just maintain over the holidays? To me, it makes it worth it to work out intensely. I’m so grateful that I’ve become addicted to exercise!

Sandra – OOOOH, I missed the bit about Tony going to Dreya’s house! Tell me, tell me, where that is! I thought the photo shoot was interesting. I watched the video on that, and frankly, could have watched a bit more after seeing Tony in some of those poses! My, my! LOL!

Gayle – We live nowhere near a Y, so I’m a bit jealous! I was a lifeguard during my college years and love swimming. Is it usually crowded? I’m with you on getting addicted to fitness stuff. Some of my most enjoyable moments are previewing new work out videos. My DH thinks I’m a very sick person! Glad to hear you like YogaX. I have never done it before P90X, either, and I am liking it more and more each time I do it. It’s really different, isn’t it? And it’s amazing what a workout you get! Can you do “crane” yet?

Well, I have to go! Got to pick up my kids and get to the ball game! Chat with you all tomorrow!

Stephanie

Hi everyone,

I'm back again just because I wanted to chat more about P90X. I'm addicted to The X :p I hate it - but I love it.

My arms and shoulders are feeling good-tired today. My biceps are getting sorer and sorer from Back & Biceps yesterday (and the yoga this morning, too). They just still feel so pumped. I think Phase 2 is really going to change things on my physique. A friend I was with this afternoon actually mentioned, without my prodding, that my arms were looking bigger and more defined. Since I was wearing a long-sleeved sweater, I was surprised she noticed. Very cool. Makes me want to go pump out a few pull ups LOL! Tomorrow's workout is Legs & Back, and heaven help me, I'm looking forward to bringing it, because I know it will result in good stuff.

I was browsing at Winners this afternoon and came across some P90 dvds and Power Half Hour dvds in their chaotically messy fitness video bin. I thought these workouts were only available from the BeachBody website? I didn't buy them, even though they were selling for $3.00 each! I really don't think I'd ever use them, especially since the whole series wasn't there; just a couple from each.

Also at Winners I stumbled upon some weighted gloves!!! I combed the fitness stores in this city about 2 years ago for some of these, and people just looked at me funny. I can't believe I found them in Winners, of all places! Each glove has a pound of weight. They were only $10, too! I pay at least twice that for regular weight lifing gloves. I put them on tonight and swung a few hooks. They felt good. I'll be using them with Kenpo on Saturday. Looking forward to how that feels. I was so buoyed by my discoveries that I threw in a pretty new yellow yoga mat. My current one is actually wearing thin. I've had it, and used it regularly, for about 4 years, so I guess it's time for a new one.

Someone yesterday mentioned PlateMates. I bought mine at a local fitness shop. They are very expensive, given what they are. But, they are also really useful for incrementally increasing your weight loads. If you've got the spare change, I recommend them.

Stephanie - I found the clip of Tony and Dreya when I clicked on "gymnastics" on the list on the left side of the web page. There's two clips. Fascinating stuff! I liked the photo shoot clips, too. The photos of Tony and Dreya on the P90X material have always impressed me. And thanks to that weblink, I SEE THE X!!! It took me a minute to figure out why they put a red square in the middle of Dreya's abs. I thought that was extremely cool. I want to find the X in my own middle now!

Traci - Yes, your lower back is a sizeable portion of your "core" region. It's the ying to your abdominable yang. Yoga is a great way to strengthen the lower back. Keep working it, girl, and you'll notice improvements in all of your workouts.

Gayle - I loved hearing about your swimming!! As Traci can confirm, I was doing swim training on Saturday mornings for a couple of months, until I started P90X. I just love, love, love it. When I finish P90X I intend to get back at it. And I'm very impressed that you survived YogaX, if you haven't done yoga before. It's extremely advanced (especially the first 45 mins).

Okay, time to go. Have a great night!
Sandra

Hi all!

So many great inspiring posts today. Sandra, you are making me really want to BRING IT tomorrow for Legs & Back. Looking forward to that one. I did Cardio Coach #1 on my bike tonite and feel fantastic! I don't have the tiredness (yet) that I felt during Phase 1. I really think the lack of carbs throws me off. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my oatmeal. It's a comfort food for me. I keep forgetting that I bought some barley and should cook some of that up too.

No time to post more personals tonite, but I am sooo thankful for this motivating check in. You ladies are all great. Hey, there's nothing like feeling strong, is there?

Got to get ready for bed soon.
