X-Train Derailed Start over or keep going?

My X-Train was derailed by the Martian Death Flu. I was 2 weeks into the 90 day rotation before I got hit (this week would have been week 3). Assuming I can function next week, should I just keep going with week 3, or start over (since I just barely got started)? Opinions?

By the way, here is the Dave Barry column that sparked my favorite term for one of my least-favorite illnesses:

Just don't read it if you are sick, because it will hurt to laugh.;)

Haha! That was funny! And yes, this does feel like the Martian Death Flu! I have been sick since last Tuesday. I was not doing the 90-day rotation though. I had started on the 30-day rotation with Ride. I will probably just do whatever floats my boat, IF I can bring myself to get back in the gym on Monday, and then start my rotation from the beginning next month. Feel better soon!!!

I was also derailed for a week last week, and since I was early in the rotation, I just picked up where I left off, which was week three of Xtrain for me.

This also happened to me when I was doing STS and I lost about a week and a half during Meso 2. In that case I just started over again, since I had travel scheduled and was going to have another gap.

I think you can just pick up where you left off and you would be fine...I am finishing up week three now and I think that was a good choice to just keep going. I am also doing the 90 day rotation.

Just my two cents.

Actually, I wouldn't do either. After being sick like this you need to come back slowly. I would start off with 3-4 days of easy workouts to make sure I was 100%, then I'd re-start Xtrain.

Where's the rush?

I wish I would have heeded this advice a couple weeks ago! I was really sick with this nasty flu also and had completed 2 weeks of Xtrain's 90 day rotation. So for Week 3, I just did light workouts (no Cathe - just mostly real light cardio and maybe one light strength w/o). This week I started back up w/ XTrain again (Cathe's Week 3 workouts) but the cardio is wearing me out since I'm just not 100% yet. I wish I would have done another light week, cause this flu is nothing to take lightly - it TOTALLY is kicking my butt.

But I'm mostly doing strength workouts since they don't take as much exertion as the cardio. Hopefully, I will get back to feeling great again, but I agree - there's no hurry. You can just start where you left off. Also, there is the chance that you could get it back again. I think that's what happened to me - I got to feeling good, did too much and then started feeling bad again.

Take Care and take it easy! :)

Elsie,

I'm so sorry to hear about your illness :(.

I personally would not rush into Xtrain so soon. Give your body the proper amount of time to recover. Illnesses (especially the flu) can be very taxing on the body. I would recommend walking, stretching, yoga, light activities, until you feel 100% better. Like Clare stated, what's the rush? Then I would start back up from 1 week. No harm done :).

FWIW, I decided to take last week off from Xtrain (yes, 2 weeks into the program) because I was feeling too darn sore, and possibly strained my shoulder. My body was telling me to back-off, and I listened. I did absolutely NO weight training. I finished off the week feeling rejuvenated and appreciative of my "recovery week" :).

Take care,

Natasha

This is my dilemma too. Exactly the same rotation, same spot, and flu too. I am finally after 4 days of fever, not running run anymore. I started trying to figure out what to do yesterday unfortunately, I am one of those people that extremely in decisive. I have a lot of congestion in my lungs right now, if that clears then maybe I will start back up but if it doesn't I will stick with yoga and walking then just start completely start over again. It's such a shame because even though it was only week 2 I was loving it kicking my butt!

I would start over, since its been more than a week. I hope you are feeling better soon. Don't push it too hard. Watch for tiredness. Hugs. (from an extreme distance, I don't want the martians to shoot me with their death rays.)

Thanks, everyone, for your well wishes and sound advice. I knew many of you would be in the same boat. I'll try to listen to my body and see where it's at next week. You're right, Clare, there isn't a rush. I was just having so much fun with the new series that I don't want to quit--but pushing too hard could put me off for longer.

Germ-Free hugs and many thanks. For everyone else who is sick, I hope you are feeling better very soon.
