No surprise here, but it turns out I have moderate arthritis in my right hip and mild in my left. The doctor called today and it took all of my strength not to burst into tears on the phone. Once I hung up, I sat in a daze then burst into tears!! :(

Someone mentioned that we don't really get a lot of good year-round sunshine up here in Monument. It dawned on me that it has gotten progressively worse since we moved to CO from CA. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the process of aging... . Seriously though, I'm only 43!! Frick, frick, frick!!

Anywho, I'm going to go get a Cathe DVD and burn off this anger!!

Then I'm going to research the crap out of how to deal with this and overcome it!

Then I'm going to start house hunting in a warmer climate!!

Pam

Keep that positive attitude up!!!! You can live with it - well!!
And, I will move with you to a warmer climate!! ha
((((hugs)))))

Hi Jennfit,

Thank you for your encouragement. I got a good sweat even though it was supposed to be a recovery day. It made for a good active recovery and perked up my mood a bit.

Thanks for the hugs!! I needed that!

Pam

Pam, don't worry. My doctor told me that just about everyone over 40 has some degree of arthritis. You'll find a way to deal with it. Staying active is very important to managing arthritis.

I have arthritis too (thumb/finger area.) I take ginger for it. It really seems to help, my lumps are smaller and less painful. The cool part is its also good for digestion. I don't know if that would help you.

You can move here to CA. Its sunny and spring has started already. I think the Canada geese are warming up to migrate north again.

Not the end of the world, . . . just part of maturing. You are fit, and strong, . . . and you WILL get through the initial shock of it all. Hang in there. I know that the more I mature I sometimes give that old sigh of "can't I put a stop to it somehow?" I mean my eyes (vision)are getting so bad, . . bad, . .bad, . . .I'll probably have coke bottle glasses by the time I'm 50. Hey you can still "Cathe" with the best of them. Sweat on girl!

Sorry to hear it.

I don't know much about it, but isn't it possible that it won't slow you down at all? I used to have bad pain in my feet, and was told by a podiatrist that I had moderate to severe arthritis in my feet. I did absolutely nothing about it, but today my feet are completely pain free, and I have no idea why. I've cleaned up my diet considerably since that time, and I add at least a teaspoon of cinnamon to my oatmeal every morning, but I don't know if there's any connection.

You gals are so wonderful! Thank you so much for your encouraging words! Still digesting and researching this news. I sincerely appreciate all of your feedback.

I was born with hip displasia (yeah, used to think only dogs got it) due to the way I came out. I have mild arthritis in my hip due to it, but I do not feel it at all. I ran a marathon last May and will be running another one on 10-10-10. Nothing will stop me. If a hip replacement is in my future.....so be it. I refuse to be sedentary.
