Dee Dee - I did figure you meant a DD or DS but just had to question it, ya know? LOL ! ! !
Angie - sorry 'bout not answering you. I was giggling while at the store today 'cuz I saw some flaxseed and what do you think came to my mind?
That I forgot to answer you about that !
Fat Flush Plan is a book by Anne Gittleman (sp? - didn't want to run to the other room to double check but will correct later if need be). It is about "flushing" the toxins from your body by eating very very clean for a couple weeks, then adding things back in slowly. The way she has it set up it actually helps you see if you are allergic to gluten or dairy also. Similar idea as South Beach, but in this one she goes through many healthy for you foods: grains, fats (such as flax oil and flax seed), best fruits, etc. And she touches on nutrients and supplements that will help in different areas.
So she begins with a "cranberry cocktail" which is only a blend of 100%cranberry juice, water and some psyliium or flax seed to "jump start" your morning and then also at the end of the day to aid you during the night.
That being said, I still always start my day with cran/water and flax seed since they both have some very good nutritional value. I find it also helps me with any hunger pains while exercising since I usually get started as soon as I get up. The juice and flax have some decent cals and nutritional value so it is an "appetizer" to breakfast which I actually just add together with my protein powder that I have right after I exercise. Gets me about 300 cals for the AM meal and then I have a protein and fruit/veggie "snack" mid morning to keep me going until lunch.
HTH a bit. I really did enjoy the informational value of the book and have adjusted my eating habits to being similar to the 3rd and last phase (maintenance) in her book. Whenever I have been really really "unclean" for too long of a time, I will plan my meals close to the 1st phase to get my body back in line a bit. I will usually drop a lb or two and it just gives me much more energy and helps me sleep better too ! I don't follow anything to a "T" and don't buy organic, but buy fresh probably 95% of the time since we have so much available here in CA.
If you don't feel like ordering the book, I bet you could just google flax seed nutrition and get some good info. I like it for the fiber and omegas it provides. And flax oil is quite tasty if you like nutty flavors. Just can't use the oil for cooking or it can taste rancid.
So DH is watching the Nascar race today and decided we have spent too much $$$ this past week to hit the car show. Now, mind you, there is no entrance fee, it is just down the middle of the street, but whenever he goes to events like that he just
has to drink the beer and eat the food. Me, well, I actually ate pasta salad before I thought we were going anyway 'cuz the food is not real "clean" and then I always take a quart of water anyway. No $$$ spending necessary on my end. Oh well, I too have chores to do but think I'll enjoy the nice weather a bit first and read out in the back for a couple of hours. Then I'll tackle the chores when DH goes out to mow lawns.
