WW Core Program, anyone?

I am doing Weight Watchers and am thinking about doing the Core Program of Weight Watchers instead of Flex. Anybody out there doing that already and we could share ideas?

Thanks,
Marcia.

Hi Marcia,

I also do WW. I have only done Flex, but I was planning to try Core starting Monday. I feel that I try to save my point for "junk" and avoid some things I should be eating such as milk and such just because they "cost too many points". I think that Core will help me to eat more wholesome foods. I also have a problem with controlling sugar cravings, so maybe this would help.

Have you checked the WW message boards? There is a Core Tip Exchange that I have been going to a lot while I have been debating trying Core. I am not sure how much weight you have to lose (I would like to lose about 10#)--I recently asked about Core for those who have less to lose and the responses were positive. They are quite friendly on the Core boards, they may be helpful if you have specific questions to post.

HTH and good luck! Let's keep each other posted!

I did Core when it first came out and I lost about 12 or 13 lbs. - all that I wanted to - very fast. I think it only took about three weeks.

I think it's a very healthy way of eating. The important thing is to make sure to stop eating when you are full. A lot of people think of it as a "no counting" system because you don't have to count points, but you do still have to pay attention to portion control.

The core plan is plain ol' clean eatin'.

If you're going to do WW I'd recommend the core plan since I consider it a lifestyle change rather than a temporary diet.

If you do the flex plan you can eat as much crap as your points allow and to me that's just a diet. I would think that once you hit your goal weight you'd either stop dieting and maybe gain the weight back or you'd have to count points for the rest of your life.

Can you tell I tried the flex plan for about 1 week before I lost my mind figuring out points? LOL! To me it's ridiculous! After my DD was born I lost the extra baby weight through clean eating w/portion control and exercise. I lost the weight a long, long time ago but I'm still eating clean and running. So, I'm not experiencing weight loss but am instead monitoring my body composition. It's an ongoing process and my scale hardly fits into the equation. I think too much emphasis is placed on body weight rather than body fat percentages.

Bottom line, TRY THE CORE PLAN!!! I think you'll love it if a healthy lifestyle is your goal.

I am a lifetime WW member who has been at or below goal for 11 years. I am doing FLORE. I eat whole foods but I count points. I try not to use my points for junk food (empty calories). I don't like the FF sour cream, cheeses and skim milk, etc on the CORE food list so I decided to do it this way. I don't think it's as restrictive at the CORE food list and I have the points as a way of tracking how much I eat instead of eating until satisfied. I feel eating until satisfied got me in to a lot of trouble years ago.

I hope this helps :)
