Wrist curls

Good morning Cathe!

Two days ago (Wed morning) I had done (2 sets of 10) wrist curls with 8 Lbs and woke up Thursday and Friday (this morning) with swollen hands and ache wrists. Do you think swollen hands is the result of wrist curls? Do you have any imput on this?

Hi Gina! Sorry to hear that your wrists and hands ache. There really is no way for me to know what caused this, however, I can share my experience with you and tell you that I have never witnessed anyone having this reaction from using the amount of weight and sets that you did. Did you perhaps do any boxing? Sometimes this is a reaction that some get when doing a boxing workout with weighted gloves and or striking a bag when they are not quite acclimated to the workout yet. Some food for thought.

Cathe, I appreciate your food for thought! However, I haven't done any boxing lately. I've done wrist curls before but not with 8 Lbs...I just don't understand what's going on. It's 3:00 p.m. (CST) and my hands are still swollen (not as bad as this morning). If this continues I will seek medical attention.

Again, thanks for input!!!

Gina

Almost sounds like an allergic reaction to something. Or, if you live somewhere with lots of deer, it might be a strange Lyme's Disease (people get this from ticks that hang around with the deer). I once had severely swollen (due to fluid) knees in March which, after a fruitless visit to the orthopedist and an MRI, turned out to be Lyme's Disease contracted the previous summer but which did not manifest till the following spring.
good luck.
