Wow! Calling all who are 40+

Gee, thanks Lisaannjam. You know, if you're only 41 and I've heard rumors that you look great in a bikini, maybe you should wait to consider this stuff. I mean, there's no harm in discussing it with your doctor, but if I were you I would wait. In 8 years, when you're my age, they'll probably know a lot more about this stuff. Just my 2 cents.

As a physician myself, I cannot believe any physician would recommend a supplement that has been so little studied in humans. I am surprised that anyone would believe all the claims on the link given above when they are the ones selling this product to make money. I would research anything I would take objectively and then wait for long term results before putting anything in my mouth. There are no miracle drugs presently to prevent aging. If you want to prevent aging excercise and eat right and live life with a positive atitude.

Thanks for the very sound advice, Nancy. Please forgive me, but I'm still trying to process your age. I just cannot believe it! Is there any type of award for Hottie Attorney of the Year? You get my vote!!:)

Lisa, you are a dear. I think maybe my pic was a little out of focus and so had an airbrushed effect. I'm really not that young looking.

Nancy-

You're an attorney??! Did I know that? If I did, I forgot. Sorry.

I'm in law school and spending time on the boards is SO MUCH more fun than reading about hearsay.

Do you practice? Are there a lot of attorneys on these boards, or am I mixing myself up again? I'm trying to figure out what to do- I'm clerking for a business lending and property litigation 4-atty firm right now and I'm not thrilled about it. I'm just not sure what's out there or how to do it. At 28, I'm already feeling too old to not know what to do with my life.

Wait- I'm hijacking the thread!!! Sorry. I'll stop! ;)

Amy,
No problem. Yes, there are quite a few attorneys here, though we are underrepresented on this website compared to the general public. You're in law school? Don't worry about being too old. I was 34 when I graduated law school, and have had plenty of time for a career.

Yes, I practice at a medium-sized law firm as a trusts and estates attorney. I like my work and my clients, but I'm not too fond of the partners in my firm. All they think about is money and billing hours. I've staunchly resisted becoming a partner because I just can't think of myself as one of "them". I think I'd rather stick a lit cigar up my nose than sit in a "partner's meeting" with these types. Sometimes I even fantasize about running off and becoming a psychologist, a nurse or a fashion consultant. LOL.

Oh, my! I fear I've confessed too much.

I'm not sure if you're concerned about confessing to the desire to stick a lit cigar up your nose or becoming a fashion consultant... ;)

If you do trusts and estates, that means you know future interests. That's my big problem with practicing that kind of law... although it definitely appeals to me.

I'm in my 2nd year in a 4 year part time program, so I've got time. Not a lot, but some. ;)

I am DEFINITELY not partner material- I don't even care about grades that much! (So far I'm at something like 3.3 so that's still okay, I just have no desire to strive for an A.) All those people who feel like they aren't enough are more than welcome to work their butts off to get to a different level, but I'm okay where I'm at. Sounds like you are, too. It's much nicer, I think. :D

Thanks for your comments, MD. This physician was highly recommended to me by another physician who has helped me immensely, so I'm assuming she's top-notch. I'll have to ask her some more questions though.

Amy, I was a whiz at future interests in law school, but don't remember a thing about them now. They really don't come up in every day practice. The rule against perpetuities does, though, so I wish I had learned that better.

Trusts and estates is great. There's a lot of drama and soap opera involved. A lot of siblings fighting over their parent's estates and stuff. It's kind of like divorce, but a lot less heart-wrenching because there are no custody battles.

Boy Nancy you hit that nail on the head re: partners and their attitude!!! Amy that's why I put my law practice on hold in favor of raising my kids right now. I just got sick of the focus on making money rather then helping people - which is why I went to law school. Sounds rather "polllyannish" doesn't it?

Amy - Nancy's right there are so many things you can do and so much time. I was /am a land use and zoning lawyer. My DH and I laugh because he's also an attorney, but he does death penalty work - ie his client base is mostly murderers on death row. I always told him "Yeah, you can wait for that call from the U.S. Supreme Court at one minute before midnight telling you whether your guy is going to live or die - but me - I do the real stuff that impact people every day - I tell them how to use their LAND!" LOL! It's all a matter of perspective. That's why we have Cathe and these boards right!?

Good luck!

Lorrie

PS -- OOH rule againt perpetuities -"every interest must vest, if it's going to vest at all, within a period of lives in being plus 21 years". Did I get it Nancy? The whole basis of the movie "Body Heat" right?
