Would you paint?

DH and I have a few things around the house that need to be done. And I finally got my FIL to do these things b/c I didn't marry a handy man.
One thing...there was a hole in my ceiling downstairs b/c my tub was leaking;( And the paint around the ceiling has bubbled. The hole is now fixed and the plaster is sitting on it.My FIL managed to save a piece of the paint so we can match up the color. But I am thinking of changing the color all together. And the color in the office.
I have the colors picked out, its just a matter of doing it or not.
Everyone is rushy this time of year and I don't want to ask to much of anyone but a part of me would like to paint before christmas comes.:) Painting changes the look of a room altogether.
What would you do? Would you get it painted now or wait until the hussle and bussle is over?
Lori:)

I'd go for paint. It's not that much work. I painted my kitchen this weekend. You'll feel much better having it done.:)

I knew Shelley would opt for paint now. She is a sooper dooper home remodeler. I don't paint unless someone holds a gun (or dripping paint brush) to my head. But, of course, Shelley is right about it feeling so good when its done. I guess my suggestion is how much do you want to do it now. If it would make you feel better and isn't too much of a disruption, go for it.

I say go for it if you have the time. You'll feel so much better once it is done and I'm sure it will look great. Plus your place will have a new look for everyone to notice when they're over visiting during the holidays.

What colors do you have in mind?

I'd paint it! i can't stand to have something like that needing to be done....it drives me crazy. so if it were me, i'd HAVE to paint. I'm painting this weekend actually.;-) as soon as i finish decorating for x-mas!

I would paint it myself. It's not that difficult (just a matter of getting the feel of the brush when you're cutting in corners and such; walls are just a roller). It's also very relaxing and rewarding.

Good luck and post some pics!

I say Paint it! It will look so nice when you are done. Painting isn't really that big of a chore, unless your doing some sort of faux painting. That can definitely take awhile.

Sounds like everyone is opting for paint!:) I love my house when a room gets painted...makes me feel like I bought a new house:)

Heres the deal.
1)My dad is a painter so he is around and so is my brother. But they are usually lazy in the evening when they get off of work.
2)But my FIL is the guy with time on his hands but he is very particular and SLOW.More slow then particular, I think. It may drive me nuts
3)Would..love,love,love to paint it myself but I know DH wouldn't approve b/c I make a mess on the corners and ceiling.I told DH if someone would outline it for me, I could do the rest myself, no sweat!

I have 2 colors picked out.One is called Maple Syrup:9 and I don't know what the other is called. Its a bit darker.I have a brown leather couch in the family room and the carpet as a bit of everything in it.Anything would go with the carpet.
Lori:)

Lori bite the bullet and do it! Probably if you just go ahead and start it yourself others will come to help (you know what I mean?). My DH and I went and painted a couple of rooms for my mom a couple of months back. I went over first and moved the furniture and taped and DH came in and it was done in less then a day for two rooms. I'll bet if you just start the process you'll get the help you need and if you don't you can feel good you did it yourself!

If you like to paint, do it yourself. I would rather have someone else do it for me, even if he/she is slow:) Would your FIL do a good job and get it done by Christmas? If so, let him at it and get out of the house--go shopping, etc! while he works:D
