Workouts per week

Cathlete
Just wondering how many days a week the average Cathelete works out? When I'm in my normal routine I workout six days a week, but lately it's less.

I work out 5 or 6 days, but I don't stress if it's less...when I'm super busy at work or life interferes more than usual it falls to 3 or 4, then I just pick it back up when I can.

I guess I would start stressing a little if I fell below 3 times a week for more than a month, only because I don't want to lose a lot of cardio capacity (I never worry much about strength, that seems to come back more easily for me personally).

And I never go a full week without a rest day, because I don't think I could! :) oh, I also occasionally take a full week off without doing any intentional exercise...just cuz, and my body seems to like the break.

I forgot to add that I hope you're able to get back to your normal routine soon, but i hope you don't worry to much in the meantime. If you're working out with Cathe, you have an excellent fitness base and your body will be reasonably forgiving of some missed workouts...if only our minds would be as forgiving!

I do DVD's 4 or 5 days out of the week, then on the weekends I have hikes on the bike trails or around town. I don't really count them as 'workouts', they are more of an enjoyment... I do take a day off now and then.

How many workout per week

I do aim at working out 6 times per week, early in the morning as after work it is not always possible. At the moment if I am busy I do miss one session per week.

I would like to do 80 to maximum 90 minutes morning and 30-45 minutes evening but find not easy.

I'm the same way Nathalie--I get my workout out of the way first thing in the morning (430am M-F and 6:30 or 7am on the weekends). Done that way, things almost never interfere with it. I'm partial to doubles too and like to get in a second, shorter workout after work--but that doesn't always pan out for me either. That's why my morning workouts are such a necessity for me--life never seems to interfere with those like it does with afternoon workouts.

I workout 6 days a week and try to get weights in 2-3 times a week, and I also do my workouts early, early in the morning between 2:30am-3am. knowing that it's done and out of the way helps me reduce some of my stress!

6x per week on average. Time of day varies according to my schedule and my mood but mostly in the morning. Amount of time spent could be as little as 15 minutes or as much as 90 minutes depending on what type of rotation I am doing or what my goal is at the time.

4-6 days a week, at least 60 min per workout, try to do it in the am's, but lately, early evening has been the go-to time of day. Wish I could wake up for a 230-3am workout! That's awesome!

I aim for 5 - 45+ min workoust a week. Most of my days are different so sometimes I get a morning workout and sometimes its afternoon and occasionally I do both. Sun-Mon are considered rest days but if I can squeeze a workout or dogwalk in I'm happy.

I'm lucky to get 3 workouts in per week, 4 is the max I ever manage. So, I work out for 2 hours at a time to get the feeling I am aiming for: worked out, but energized, but tired enough so I can sleep please!

2:30 - 3? That's great! I thought I did good hitting the basement gym at 4:30 :) I guess I should just get up and exercise instead of rolling around!

Shorty68,

That's it. You win the prize. Based on dedication alone, you should receive a $100 Cathe gift certificate for getting up at that hour to work out. You are a star!

I rise around 5am to work out and I shoot for everyday - not sweating it when I miss a day. I also walk regularly at lunch which is more meditative than athletic.

BIG high-fives to all you early, early risers! I have a very difficult time getting out of bed to workout when it is still dark out. Morning workouts are my preference... no interruptions or distractions. The focus is on ME. ;)

Beginning in mid-January of this year and up until about two weeks ago, I was putting in a 6-day-per-week effort using Cathe's rotations, but I have had to back off lately because of my tendonitis. :( I will be having surgery to remove the inflammation in less than 2 weeks. I am nervous, but hopeful. I need to get my STS groove back!!!!

2:30am! That is insane early! What time do you go to bed shorty68? I thought I got up early (4:30am) to workout! I can't imagine getting up any earlier. I need my sleep and in order to get a sufficient amount, I have to be in bed before 10pm every night. My husband is a night owl and he complains as it is about my bed time. If I went to bed any earlier, I'd have no life outside of work and working out--and though I love them both, I love my husband and daughter and doggies, too!

I usually get up at 4:30 or 5:00am to work out and I thought that was pretty good. But 2:30am? Now that is true dedication!!!

I usually work out six days a week, sometimes five, but never less than three days per week and that is only if life is particularly hectic.

I am proud to say that I haven't missed a week's worth of workouts since October of 1986. Yep, 26 years ;)

I exercise 6 days / week, for about 50-60 minutes each day, with a balance of cardio and weights (sometimes 70 mins if I include an extended stretch or foam roller). Sunday is always my rest day.

It's easy to think that more time working out is better, but it isn't always. (Obviously, we are all different--have different bodies, goals, etc.) I know for me I always feel worse when I do more than the 50-60 minutes I plan for. This article from Cathe's most recent newsletter talks about the idea of not overdoing it. Again, we're all different, but this article really hit home for me.
