Happy Monday Warriors!

Today is the first day I feel back to normal (whatever normal really means, I am not sure, but I digress... :p). Spent the weekend trying to destress some, played tennis, watched tennis, did an interval run on the treadmill, slept, did a workout on the bosu, watched tennis, did the usual weekend errands, watched harry potter and fell asleep (I really need a new life! :D) But at least I feel a little better. This morning I did LIS cardio only. Tonight is tennis class. Trying to get myself back on track running wise to see if I can be ready in 3 weeks to run the 5k. If by some miracle I can follow a routine, without missing, for the next 3 weeks, I may just make it. At least I am going to give it a try.

Goals for this week.... scheduled workouts everyday, real sleep every night, no freaking out over work and work stress, no overthinking relationship and stressing (cant do anything to change things this week anyway) and actually spend the week taking care of myself. You would think that this would combination of goals wouldnt be that hard, but yet I cant remember the last time I had a week even close to it, its been that long... here is to trying. :)

Alright, must get back to work. Sorry for being MIA last week, I think I needed hibernation mode to help quiet myself down a little bit. Hope everyone is doing well. So come out, come out wherever you are....

MJ! Glad that you are feeling better and getting your workouts in again!

Crazy day and crunched for time. Baseball practice in a bit. This morning I did Disk 16 Chest, Shoulders and Biceps. Tough, but I did it. And I didn't change my weights by more than 1/2 lb which was just so that I didn't have to use wrist weights on a couple things.

More tomorrow.

Hello All Warriors!

MJ- I am glad that you feel better. Which Harry potter did you watch. I have read all of the Harry Potter books. It sounds like you have great goals this week- no stress and no stresing out! I am sending hugs your way and wishing you much luck with your very admirable goals.

Cathy- What do you use for your weight increments? weighted gloves? I use plate mates.

I had a non-eventful weekend other than a hose blew in my car and I had to take it to the shop first thing in the morning to get it replaced. For the last few weeks I kept wondering why all of a sudden my gas mileage was so poor and now I know. With the price of gas so high I was having to fill up more often. My SUV is old and I thought that was the reason for the now poor gas mileage -that the car is just getting older. A few years back I considered getting a new car but frankly I don't want any new payments and my car is still running well ( other than this last episode) so I decided to drive it until it dies. On my way to get the hose fixed, I hit a big pothole and the muffler fell off and cracked so I had to have two things fixed!

Workout today- full body- my workout and my yoga workout
Workout yesterday evening- Sculpt and Tone Ballet and Styler- Weight loss Yoga

For the life of me I can not see why they call all of all of her workouts Trudie Styler's because James d'Silva does the whole thing. He is actually quite good and talented. I find myself using his workouts quite often. Trudie Styler just lent her name to them to boost sales I guess because she is really just a background exercisers. Sting's music is used many of the workouts. In the Styler Cardio Dance workout this is an added bonus foam roller workout that I love. I am going to do it later today.

I plan to get to bed early today. I know that I say that quite often but I have good intentions each time. I saw a TV health episode today that stated that the number one thing that any person can do to enhance their health (even more so than diet and exercise) is getting ten hours of sleep! I am going to aim for that for the remainder of this year! Wish me much luck. Sometimes I think that my exercising in the evening keeps me up. I sometimes exercise both morning and evening. Maybe I should give it up and just do yoga, pilates stretching in the evening?

Have a great day!

Today was MMA Kick Box, I was supposed to do Cardio Core Circuit, but I tweaked my calf just a bit the other day and decided to opt for something I could do low impact. For those who don't know in totally freak occurrences I tore the connecting fibers of my achilles tendon in my right leg in December '09 and then not long after it healed I did the same thing to the right one in the Spring of '10. My doc is a sports med guy and assured me that there wasn't anything I could have done to prevent it, that it was just a fluke thing, but it's made me very leery of pushing things if there are signs of trouble. This time it's just a bit sore, and I'm having no trouble walking or anything, so I know it's just a sore muscle. Already much better today.

Regina, I use weighted gloves, wrist weights and my ankle weights on my wrists to get all those odd increments.

Glad your car trouble was something easy to fix. DH is still driving my old civic. It's approaching 300,000 miles and will be able to vote in November. :p Still runs fine even if it looks it's age. No car payments for us. We'll just stick to driving things till they die and getting something used to replace them.

Sleep is so crucial and the one thing most people in this country don't get enough of these days. I aim for bed at 9 every night, and generally make it before 9:30. I've found that especially during perimenopause I really need every bit of sleep I can get. Good for you on making it a goal!

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Cathy- how many days do you work out weekly? I understand what you are saying about injuries. I had a right rotator cuff repair a few years ago. The rehab threw me for a loop because it was so lengthy. My left rotator cuff also has a small tear but I am just trying the rehab route this time. I want to try to avoid surgery at all cost. Years ago, I had a Honda Accord that I drove for 200,000 miles and then I gave it to my son who drove it for another 100,000 miles and then he gave it to my youngest son who drove it another 125,00 miles. It was the same engine. I love Hondas!

The news is so depressing, with wars, civil unrest, earthquakes, floods. I try not to turn on the TV much.

Good Morning!

I am glad that it is raining rather than the snow that they predicted! I am at work and trying to work on an article but I am having "writers block."

Has anyone seen any good movies lately?

Workout this morning- Tabata Intervals and Power Yoga

Have a great day!

This morning was disk 17 Legs. We'll see if tomorrow is a return of those nasty DOMS I had last week. I'm hoping not because I've got a busy day coming up.

Regina I generally work out 6 days a week. Taking Saturday as my rest day because I leave early to go shopping.

We are so far getting rain rather than the freezing rain predicted and they've dropped our potential 1-3" of snow to not much of anything. Passed on taking the boys to homeschool group today because of the predictions, but I'm planning to go to baseball practice later. Just glad that it's staying light later, so I'll be able to see the roads well because the temps are supposed to drop around that time.

Regina that's great to hear how many miles your honda got! We're definitely hoping to get at least another year out of ours. Best impulse buy I ever made. ;)

Can't help you with the movies as we don't go out to them and don't get TV. I do have a newer one out from the library that's called something like "Beyond the Prairie, The True Story of Laura Ingalls Wilder" not sure about the true parts as the parts that match the books aren't exactly like the books. Been reading them to Derek, so I'm up on that! It's all very chopped up and jumps years in some places. It does got on past the original series, but I've read Rose's (daughter's) book so I know a lot of that stuff, too. Rose paints a far less rosy picture than Laura does.

Hey there warriors!

Just a quick check-in before bed. So far I have managed to workout everyday this week, plus tennis 2 nights as well. Stress...well...yesterday a bit with the relationship issues....and at work, I have to do a presentation for the board of directors next tuesday and have to have a draft of the presentation done tomorrow. Considering I never have to do anything but go to the board meeting dinner and the fact that I found out on Monday that they want to add me to the meeting agenda....I dont think i can avoid stressing out.. Plus, I have to go this weekend and find a dress for the dinner...yes its that time again (you hear that Janis, you took more pleasure in me finding a dress last year than I did :p)...not looking forward to it at all and out of time. lol Must get some sleep. Last night wasnt so good, despite trying. Will try to run in the morning and then perhaps actually do an sts workout in the evening...there is always hope. lol

Cathy- I hope the DOMS isnt too nasty tomorrow!

Regina - I hope you get passed your writers block...i am having presentation writers block, its not fun.

Hi to everyone else, hope you are doing well.

Time to read a magazine in bed or at least flip through it until I doze off to sleep. Will try to catch up tomorrow. Good night.

THE SUN HAS GOT HIS HAT ON.

Excellent to feel some warmth at last. Busy in the garden yesterday potting up some planters, as locked in dreary dull office today and tomorrow. Felt great.

Happy Monday Warriors!

Today is the first day I feel back to normal (whatever normal really means, I am not sure, but I digress... ). Spent the weekend trying to destress some, played tennis, watched tennis, did an interval run on the treadmill, slept, did a workout on the bosu, watched tennis, did the usual weekend errands, watched harry potter and fell asleep (I really need a new life! ) But at least I feel a little better. MJ Good luck with getting to the 5k. Where there's a will there's a way and I'm sure you are determined enough to get there.

The first couple of Harry Potter films they made in the studios about 5 miles from here (converted the old Rolls Royce aircraft engine plant). One of 'The Husbands' was a chef doing TV and film location catering and he worked on these films and we had full access to all the sets. I used to take friends' kids round on after school tours. Lost track of the films after a couple of years once I lost track of 'The Husband'.

So no relationship stress for me, but now I've not been in a relationship for about 5 years I stress about being on my own. Although all told life is happier and more carefree without a significant other - but then I suppose it pretty much depends on the significant other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regina Someone has been transferring the downloads to DVDs for me, but I thought you needed a programme to convert the M4V format to MP3 (or whatever it is) to enable burning to disc. Are you having success with a different method???

Cathy those STS leg DOMS really do bite don't they? I avoided them Meso 1 week 1 and Meso 2 week 1, but other than that - YOWZA. I walked round to the shops the other day (about 20 mins) and I could feel my tushy sort of groaning with every step - never felt that before. Mind you I was wearing FitFlops (or Tone Ups or whatever is the US equivalent).

I was wondering about MMAs. I got Kick Max, KPC + Kick Box on CTX - not sure if MMA would duplicate what I've already got, or if it's altogether different?? I watched the trailers - undecided??

Enjoy the sunshine if you get any - otherwise just look forward to when it comes your way.

Happy Days. Happy People

Kim xx

MJ Fantastic on the workouts!!!! So, it's the annual find a dress time again already. ;) It's been a whole year, do you think they'd remember if you wore the same one. :p Personally, I wouldn't pass on the chance to find something new.

I'm taking a rest day today, because of all the activities, shuffling of kids etc. Ever sat around in a van with 3 kids 6, 8 & 9 for an hour? I don't recommend it! We all survived, but I wouldn't choose to do it again.

So last week STS legs got me in the inner thighs and hamstrings. This week it is my BUTT. Like my whole entire butt! Tonight I'm sitting through 2 basketball games and I can just imagine what it'll be like trying to get up and walk after that.

Was sounding promising last night for the baseball games Sunday being cancelled. NOT necessarily because of the fact that it's only supposed to be 33 degrees, though that's certainly the parents #1 issue, but because 6 of the players have a basketball tournament that day. Whatever, I'll take it! We are supposed to get official word sometime today.

Kim I love "the husband" comments. Definitely a lot of days I'd like to be able to refer to mine that way. I hope you were doing all that planting before you did legs for the week. I know if I had planned to do any gardening today it sure wouldn't be a happening thing. ;)

Hi Everyone!

It is spring break for my guys, unfortunately the weather isn’t sunny and warm. We’ve had too much rain, sleet, snow and wind. I’ve been cooking up a storm too; I love it when everyone is home. I’m also at the end of my second week of Meso3 and my 10th week of no sugar. My Meso3 DOMS always make me feel like I am coming down with the flu. I must not be lifting heavy enough for lower body, though, as the DOMS are almost non-existent. I've been using dumbbells and my weighted vest, I think it's time I rack up the barbell for squats and lunges. I’m doing plyo as add’l leg/cardio workout, the plyo workouts are always a lot of fun and quite the sweat-fest.

Kim – I’m extremely sad about the world too. Seeing Japan completely decimated in such a way is beyond comprehension and sobering nonetheless. On another note, you find Imax2 easy!? *gasp* Granted, I am a stepping neophyte, but still, that workout kicks my butt each and every time I do it. After my journey with all of my dvds I’ll be ready for a STS September rotation, I’m gonna hold you to it, girl! Oh – my guys would go nuts if they heard you were on the set of any Harry Potter movie no matter how long ago it was. COOL. Now that they are much older, and have read many classic works of literature, the guys are starting to realize all the material Ms. Rowling pulled ideas from. Even so, she rocked children’s fiction onto its heels. Send my loving thoughts and prayers to Mary when you write her next. Such a sad time for her.

Regina – We pay cash for our vehicles too and drive them until they are no longer drivable. I’ve never owned a Honda though. I saw on the OD you were asking about Steve Cotter. I personally think he is the king of Kettlebell instruction. I have his dvds. The workouts aren’t the kind we are used to – really – but they are interesting nonetheless. I can lend the set to you or burn a few for you to view. I’m thinking about adding a few more yoga dvds to my library. I have all of Rodney Yee and appreciate his style and tone, who would you recommend?

Cathy – How is your no-sugar challenge going? Are you getting ready for your conference? Sitting in a van with a 3, 6 and 9 year old for an hour – I dunno – sounds like a lot of fun to me!!! Trust me on this, it all goes by so very fast and soon enough the van will be empty. Now when the boys squabble, which they still do, I enjoy being the silent spectator. Clever debaters they are, witty insults and all.

MJ – I’m with Cathy – can you wear the same dress from last year, and maybe change up the shoes, jewelry or other accessories? BTW you promised me a photo last year. *laughing*. Stressmax is certainly a work out all its own. When will you get a break? Are you planning to take some vacation time soon? Still no news about my DH’s job. Everything is in flux. March seems to be the month of limbo. Everything could stay the same or everything could change radically, the not knowing is excruciating.

In other news - my second puppy will be born this weekend sometime...I'll post pics when I receive them. I don't know if I will be bringing home a boy or a girl, do y'all have any name suggestions? Rowan and ???
(And don't say Martin, I've heard that one too many times. :D)

Have a good one Warriors!
:D

Janis- I send you a PM. I too used plyo legs along with the Meso three leg routines. I used the plyo leg routines as cardio workouts. My favorite Yoga instructor is the same as yours- Rodney Yee. He is easy to follow, his instruction is right on point and I appreciate that he has different levels of workouts and workouts of different lengths. I also use Rainbeau Mars ( although sometimes I find that she is a little too talky. It just depends on what mood I am in). I have many of Shiva Rea's workouts and use them sometimes. I also like Trudie Styler's two Yoga workouts that are not led by her but by James D'Silva. I like Styler's 'Warrior Yoga' and her 'Weight Loss Yoga'. My neighbor likes Eoin Flynn. Congrats on your ten weeks of no sugar.

Kim- I use the program “Popcorn” to transfer my downloads to DVD. (I use a MAC computer). I have Cathe’s MMA’s but I say that if you have KM, KPC you don’t really need all of them. Maybe just one MMA Fusion. The MMA’s are not among my favorite Cathe workouts. The “husband” comment was humorous. I have been married for so many years and have been so happy so it hard for me to imagine my life without him.

MJ- I am still having writers block so I decided to not think about the article again until Sunday. Don’t you like shopping for a new dress or is it just that you don’t want to go to the dinner?

Cathy- I use to read the “ Little House” series with my children when they were young. I too workout out six days weekly. Any more DOMS from STS?

My workout today was - an old Firm Classic- " ALL Weights" and Rodney Yee - Ultimate Power Yoga

Hot and sunny out there. Annoying and gloomy in here. Mustn't grumble (grumble  grumble  )

I feel all sort of coiled up inside like I want to get at 'it'. Not entirely sure what exactly 'it' might be and indeed how to set about tackling it with the $5 I currently have to hand.

OK, so now I'm going to list below all of the interesting things that I've done this week.

End of list.

Regina Thank you v much for the Popcorn heads up. That rings a bell. I'll investigate that. I had a blinding flash of inspiration driving home from dancing last night and realised that now we've moved the downloads into i-tunes to put on the smashed up i-phone - we should be able to just burn them to a disc straight off from there. I made a shattering pronouncement to DD along these lines which was sceptically greeted with a quizzical frown.

Janis I'm excited. Can you feel my excitement. Our puppy is being born. Gawd I'm so excited.

Birman names I have earmarked for my extended furry family:

Gucci was supposed to be part of a pair = Gucci & Prada
Truffle & Tickle
Angel
Yeti
Elvis

and possible subsitution : Monty

I'm excited - did I say??? :p

Cathy On the subject of keeping the cars keeping on until they flat out won't keep on keeping on any more, I'm planning to hang onto the one I've got now. Probably more out of necessity than choice if I was honest. But I love it. Should be a piccie on here. I had one of these before in blue, not nearly so nice as the hood hadn't been looked after by the previous owner and it got grottier and grottier. Yuck. I've had this one nearly 2 years, but its coming up on 8 years old and has just done 70k. I'm really looking after it. It's nothing fancy - really budget end convertible, but I always have convertibles as they're so nice in our English climate. Have to be extra careful when sweeping off 9" of snow not to tear the hood.

MJ Not envious of your report task. I just hate that when something's got to be done - you try and shelve it, but it just keeps barking away at you from the corner of your brain.

Did someone saying barking????????????

Good Morning Warriors!

Kim- You are too funny. Your list of interesting things that you have done this week is really empty? Congrats on your new puppy! You have some cute names for them! I forgot that in addition to "Popcorn," I also use the program ""Toast" to burn downloads to DVD.

I am off today and I have plans to do a barre workout this morning. I don't feel much like contorting my legs today but I am going to do it because I like the results. I also have planned either Yoga or a Stretch Max segment for this afternoon. We will see how the day unwinds.

Have A Great Weekend Everyone!

I totally did NOT want to do Disk 18 Back & Biceps today. Nick and I got home from the games last night at 10:20 and after a good basketball game, and even after the drive home, I'm too keyed up to go to sleep right away. So, I was low on sleep and attitude. I actually made my workout time Nick's and told him his job was to motivate me! At least his presence got me through it. ;) After that, I took a nap. :p

Janis, so far so good on the no sugar and I'm finishing up week 7. Derek and I have a routine for when Nick is at band and we read and chat, it was the addition of the other two that made it harder. Derek is used to it and they aren't. Next week he'll be going with the beginner band in the afternoon, so we'll have a shot at better temps for doing something other than sitting in the van. Big YAY!! on feeling ready to add in the heavier weights for leg workouts again. I'm planning to add in the plyo legs workouts with MESO 3 squat rack legs, too. So, you're jumping on the September STS bandwagon, too. If I can get myself sorted out to a decent workout plan, I'll start with you guys, too. If my life is total chaos I'll start a couple weeks later. ;)

Speaking of which every workout I did this week, was not first thing in the morning and I learned several things. 1) I can workout at other times of day, 2) Mid-morning seems to actually be my best performance time and 3) it TOTALLY screws up the flow of my day!!! I'm trying to figure out whether I want to start now, doing my workouts around 10:00 or just stick with first thing and then in August start rearranging my day. My big issue is that if I'm upstairs in the morning, I would then be interacting with DH who is absolutely by no stretch of the imagination a morning person and with whom it's easy to run into conflicts under those circumstances. Mid-morning is my house cleaning time, but cleaning when he's still here doesn't work, because he flips out at the smallest noise just sure it'll wake the boys up. That won't be a problem in the fall because they will have to be up, too, but for now I won't be able to start cleaning until 7:30 when DH is gone.

Kim surely there must have been at least one teensy weensy little thing of note in your week. Of the MMA's, MMA Fusion is my favorite. Still can't beat KPC which is my fave of those types of workouts. MMA Boxing is my least favorite. However, I do like the ab work from all of them. And I shudder at the thought of cleaning 9" of snow of the car - that's what my nice garage is for ;) And do you really think of things in terms of inches? I've had to do some metrics with Nick and was glad it was minimal and to find out from the math teacher at the school that they really do little of it. 30 years ago they kept talking about how we'd have to all learn it and convert, but thankfully it's never happened.

Regina, I'm sure MJ will explain far more eloquently, but I believe her issue with the dress is that it is a dress. :)

Time to get to my weekly menu and shopping list. Something I've come to dread more and more as time goes by. I don't mind the actual shopping, but the list making gets tedious.

Today I did Cardio Core Circuit. Someday....someday, I will do those butterfly sit ups with my hands behind my head. I tried one today and it was NOT happening. :p There are so few ab movements that I can't do that it really bugs me when I get to one that I can't. Modification doesn't set well with me.
