Workout Warriors Jan 17th - Jan 23rd

Hey guys,

I ran 7k Thursday and Friday, then did my own slow and heavy workout on Saturday - 90 minutes. Today I ran 13k. The hard part was the temperature - it is -19C (-2F) here, with a wind chill of -29C (-20F). Needless to say, I was the only runner out there this morning. I dressed pretty well, but as I wear glasses, I couldn't wrap my lower face (it makes my glasses fog up). So my face and legs got pretty cold. I did warm up inside and chose a route to try to minimize the wind, but that only went so far. Anyway, I did 1k more than last Sunday, but my run was only 1 minute longer- guess I ran faster to try to beat the wind!

Quick check in here. Yesterday was AC Stability Ball Abs and Body Max 2 abs. Then this morning I did chest. It was -2 when I got up at 6 a.m. and dropped to -9 by 9 a.m. Then it started heading back up and is all of zero. I'm staying tucked inside. Morningstar I bow to you hugely for continuing your runs in cold weather. I am totally and absolutely a wimp about the cold and getting more so every year.

OMG, Morningstar - you're amazing. I don't even want to go outside to let the dogs do their business when it gets in the single digits, I can't imagine running in subzero. I did run with Winston (my Aussie) a couple weeks ago when it was pretty cold and windy. It made my eyes water and my tears froze to my eyelashes. OK, that's an exaggeration, but it wasn't my most enjoyable run. As much as the treadmill bores me, I like warmth too much. I love the heat, and often think I should move to a warmer state. But something tells me the heat wouldn't be as enjoyable to me if I didn't have 4 months out of the year where I was thinking "I can't wait for summer".

Nice job on the super ab work yesterday, Cathy. I tend to enjoy shorter ab routines, but mostly because I do them at the end of my other workout for the day and I'm pretty much ready to be done working out. I did Tonique Mat yesterday, and she mixes the ab work in with the butt work - it's pretty challenging. She goes and says that there are only 10 more, and then when you get to one - she says "10 more". I swear, if I could reach through the TV, I'd slap her.

Today I just did 5 miles on the treadmill. I think I chose the wrong musical selection. I did a shuffle of all my Sheryl Crowe stuff, and it was just a little too mellow for running. She does have a great voice, and it was supposed to be an "easy" run, but it really didn't get me going.

No more exercise for me today. I've got one more week of Meso 1 and then my active recovery week. I'm looking forward to it big time.

yep, i'm another one the bows to Morningstar for continuing to run outside in this ridiculous cold! I think I'm in awe.

Yea MidgetDogg for doing the WO, and yeaa check-in for helping you.

Cathy, I hear you about the constant trips chauffering kids around! Been there, done that!

Good luck with the Atkins, msmik, let me know how that goes. I don't think I could do Atkins, personally. I can cut down on the sugar (but not cut out), I can cut down on the grease and fat, but carbs are everywhere ! Carbs rule the world! I think...with me, if I'm very strict eating-wise and moderate with exercise, I can lose weight ok. But if I up to about 8-10 w/outs a week, as I have been doing.....or riding the bike 125 miles a week......forget weight loss. I'll have to sit down and have a think, because I wnat to workout that much, increase my strength and my cardiovascular fitness.

Regina...you teach history? What kind, and what level? That's sooo interesting! I lovveee old buildings and historic places, too. Being with Simon for the past 5 years...seen a lot of 'em in England, in Denmark and Hungary. (he works around the world, which is how we met when he was working in the U.S.)

Of course, KadetKim lives in England so she's just steeped in history all around her!

Well I blew off working out Friday, no good reason but the blahs and the sads, but Saturday I pulled myself together to get to cycling class (got a bike, though they ran out again), then did MM in the evening. Ditched the core stuff though, bad me!

Today was 32 minutes on stepmill and 26 on elliptical. Will do cycling class later, plus the Roman Chair for back hyperextensions.

Is everyone having a good weekend? Dont they go by to dang quickly?

I fly to England tomorrow, looks like I get to meet a very special person too while I hand deliver STS to her! Amazing, isn't it?????

Mary I hope you have a smooth trip to England. And at some point, we'll want details on that special meeting/delivery you're making. :D Wishing you a fabulous time!
