Workout Warriors - Jan 10th - Jan 16th

Janis: I failed to explain properly! My work schedule has been the same for years, it just rotates. I work 2 weeks out of 4 that are "normal" 8:30-4:45. One week will be 7-3:30. One week will be 10-5:15 and I work Saturday of that week. I like it.

No workout yet today, reading the forums trying to get geared up for it. 4 day split kickbox is on my schedule

Quote Janis: (Kadet) Kim – Ummm, what if someone in the states bought STS for you, and sent them as a “gift”, do you by pass all the extra fees and tariffs?

Janis - thank you - yes that could work. However, no-one I know on whom I could impose such a request. Meantime, Donna + Cathy suggested downloads. I've had a brief look at that. The download 'bundle' seems to count as one purchase. Ergo no quantity discount - so @ $199.99 = $60.00 more expensive than the discs!!!!!!!!! I've bought downloads before and I get a buddy to convert them onto DVD for me. Not sure why exactly, but it does mean at the moment that I don't have appropriate equipment to play the download in its unconverted format. What I mean is that I wouldn't ask him to do the full STS for me so I'd have to get ipod or compatible kit to view it, resulting in more expense one way or the other. Seems I'm trapped into heamorrhaging bucks whichever way I jump. Perhaps now is just not my time. BooHoo - but the clocks a'ticking and I think I'm gonna have to make a decision so I think I may have to pass :( :( :( :(

M'Star LOL and LOL

Mary I was so sorry to read about Simon. I don't want to be too mawkish on here - but I'm sure we are all united in wishing you only good and healing thoughts.

When I got on the scale for the first time post-Xmas last w/e I'd been in denial so long I had to clear the dust off the display before I could read it. Seems like a had a VERY VERY merry Christmas  So, y'day was Power Max and today Step Fit. Last time I did Power Max it was a breeze and at the part where she says "So now you know why we call it Step Max eh" I rather arrogantly thought "No - not especially" (LOL-me - sparkling rapier-like wit and repartee even when I'm sweating my tushy off). Well not so cocky y'day while carrying a few extra Christmas #s, I was puffing and grunting so hard by the time she got to the bit where she says: "So now you know ............................" that I barely heard it over my groans.

That reminds me luncheon is a'calling. Home-made tomato soup Suzie - ok it's not green and it's not a smoothie but I'm with you in spirit.

:p To everyone else - hope your w/es are going just fine and look forward to catching up soon.

Ok, today was chest day - still working my way back up to my heaviest weights for this stuff. I'm going to add a couple more weeks of doing this pattern of workouts and start STS February 7. I was going to restart Jan. 31, but I've got a retreat the first weekend of February and figure I'll take that weekend as a short break in before starting it. I also did Step Moves.

Kim, I understand your problem with the downloads. It will be a long time, if ever before I can do them. At least not if I'm using my own computer. There is such a small portion of the country on dial-up now that we are becoming a forgotten group. There's no incentive to anyone to get us high speed. Not enough profit margin. Satellite even with the incentives the government grant is allowing for is still more than twice the cost of dial-up. Ok, pity party over. :p

Donna, I tried Cathe's nutrition software when it first came out and it was ok, but I couldn't keep paying for it every month. There are lots of free programs out there that are quite usable. The new version of the workout manager has the ability to track calories both food and exercise. I just need to figure it out and see if they have any more bugs to fix.

Janis 60's! It was 4 here this morning! We are taking care of the neighbor dog and let her out long enough to make use of the outdoor facilities and then went back inside. Walking through the vineyards sounds wonderful! I hadn't drank since I starting trying to get pregnant in '97, but at Christmas had one of those mini coolers. Maybe a whole 8 oz. and I was really feeling it! I never did drink much, but seriously a baby wine cooler kicking my butt.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! And staying warm!!

wow, morningstar, I'm seriously impressed with those weights. Do you have pictures posted anywhere? I'd love to see your muscles. :D

Kim...I hope you get this today, it being the 16th. Order the STS,if you like, have it shipped to me (I am assuming you trust me enough? and will pm you with the info) and I will have it shipped along to you, albeit slowly and inexpensively. Please do it! I don't mind one bit, and you know...soon I'll be losing my connection with England, and I've grown to love it, so I would actually love doing it.

So yesterday was cycling class in the a.m. and STS Total Body in the evening. I wanted to do the optional MMA Fustion but dd was home, and I work out in the living room (very cramped place we have here) and she's great about giving me space but I didn't want to impose.

This morning I did 28 minutes stepmill and 25 minutes elliptical. Will go back fo rthe 4:30 pm cycling class...maybe throw on MMA Fusion when I get home if it all works out?

I have to go dress shopping now. Going to England next week, and Simon booked a 5 star hotel in London for us, and I assume he'll want to eat at some of the fancy restaurants they have there. Wish me luck, dress shopping is not easy for me. I'm such a larger size on top than on the bottom, I'm hoping I can find a classy sweater-type dress, which will stretch.

thank you for your thoughts, everyone. It helps. Simon and I ...we were to be married and to spend the rest of the our lives together. I love him so much.

Hi Warriors!!!! Easy day today.... just 4 miles on the treadmill. Followed it up with a goat cheese omelette and Ezekiel toast. Yummmm. I'm addicted to goat cheese, you know. My favorite dinner is a big salad with goat cheese and grilled chicken on top. That's one thing I love about being single - I can count that as "dinner" without any attitude.

Think I need to do some time with the Sharper Image foot massager I got a couple weeks ago. My plantar fascia is a bit sore today... :( Stupid feet... I really got a loser pair, let me tell you.

KadetKim I sent you a PM.

Cathy You're right about there being a lot of nutrition software online. I liked Livestrong.com too. I only used the one on this site for the 3 months it took me to get rid of my extra 16. Now I don't do any of it because it takes a lot of time and I pretty much have a good idea of what I'm eating.

Janis I don't know how I'd do giving up wine. I just enjoy the whole experience of it. Going to our local wineries for tastings, hitting our awesome wine store and having the wine gurus help me pick out something different, spending an evening at my piano with a glass of wine next to me. Sometimes I drink my water or Diet Coke out of my wine glasses, just because I love the feel of them in my hand.

It's pretty cold here today too. Not as cold as you've got it, Cathy, we're probably in the 20s. Just cold enough where my dog doesn't make me stand there forever waiting for him to do his business. I really don't mind the winters as much as I used to before I hired someone to plow my driveway, but I'm ready for spring. I want sunshine and grass.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

So, just to give a DOMS update the day after, feeling it still in my back and up into my shoulders. I went for a 12K run this morning, and felt it a little in my hamstrings afterwards, but I definitely think this hit the upper body more, deadlifts notwithstanding. Of course, the run shook loose some muscle tightness too. I'm considering going swimming this afternoon to shake loose the rest of the DOMS, but it's cold outside and I'm nice and comfy inside watching a West Wing DVD marathon, so I have a feeling that's just not happening...

You know, this morning's run was really awesome. I ran slow and steady on a flat route, something I haven't done for a few weeks. My runs to and from my office are all on steep up and down hills and I forgot how nice it is to really get into the rhythym of the body on a steady pace - I tend to run much faster to and from work. Around about 7k I felt like I could run forever (and then at 10k I changed my mind!) It's really cold here right now, and the way back had the wind in my face, so I really felt it. But I was quite warmed up at that point, so not a huge deal. I got home and had a lovely hot bath.

Hi ladies hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Today I went to Zumba at the Y. So much fun. ;) Then we had a birthday for my newly turned teen step daughter. We had the party at the Y and all the kids went swimming.

Janis I only have on Cathe account but sometimes I access a computer at work. And I have my home computer and my every trusty iphone Cathe app. .:p

Today I did 4ds bootcamp cardio only, and then STS total body ---upper body only. Following my Cathe Dec. rotation loosly this week.

McKeefe: Have fun with Simon in England. How long of a plane ride is that?

Ok, I really don't know what it is about my back workout, but this is the second week in a row that it's kicked my butt, so much that I don't have the energy to follow it up with cardio! Today was a Hiit workout, so I'll just plan on doing it with Nick tomorrow.

Today is the day that we go to the school for a tour/questions and I'm hoping everything goes smoothly. Since DH decided he wanted to go to, that means Derek will tag along and I'm hoping he's intimidated enough by the atmosphere to not be chatty, because with that one I never know what might come out. Nick on the other hand I've talked to about his needing to answer questions asked and make himself part of the process. He is just so much the observer.

Mary I hope everything about your trip to England goes smoothly and the two of you have a fantastic time together. Keeping you both in my thoughts.
