i know there are rotation posts and stuff like that, but what does everyone's week look like in terms of what you do for workouts? also, how many rest days do you take and do you actually rest or do you do something like walking or an elliptical?

i need to get out of the mindset that if i dont workout 6-7 days a week, its still possible to look & feel great. some weeks i feel i need 2 days of rest, some i feel i can keep going...

Well, this week I just started a Slim Series rotation so that's Monday to Friday. If I can, I'll fit Cool It Off in (the stretch workout) over the weekend. I also go dancing once a week, either to a class or a full 3-hour dance. I always have 1-2 days of rest. I'll be doing Slim Series for about 4-6 weeks. On my rest days, I do just that: rest. Don't feel guilty if you need an extra day of rest. Sometimes your body needs it to recover.

I workout about 3 hours a day for 4 days a week. I teach 3 classes a week and workout the other hours at classes/running or with Cathe. I have had NO injuries since I started taking a few days off per week - with NO guilt!! :)

When I worked out 6-7 times per week (and hour per day) I had injuries. This way, my body gets to completely rest a few days per week. I eat the same on the rest days - lots of protein and good foods.

Good luck!

i workout 5-6 days per week. The 6th day depends on whats going on for the weekend. If i'm home i'll workout if i'm out with my hubby i take the whole weekend off. I workout for no more than 60 minutes. I've been doing insanity month 2 3 days per week then on the other 2 days i do cardio and some weight training. Its not how many days you workout its how your diet is that will determine how you look and feel.

I do 5 days with two days off or 6 days with one day being yoga. I generally total 6 hours or so a week. Days off are days off, no power walks, elliptical etc.

I've found that it's not how many days I work out that matters, it's intensity and variety. Those and diet.

HTH! :)

This is what my projected week looks like: I am doing Insanity and running:

Aug3

Plyometric Cardio Circuit
Aug4
Run 2 miles
Cardio Power & Resistance
Aug5
Spin 35 min
Cardio Recovery
Aug6
Run 3 miles
Pure Cardio
Aug7
Elliptical 45min
Plyometric Cardio Circuit
Aug8
Run 2 miles

Melissa,

Right now I'm doing 5-6 days a week but I've also done 4-5 days a week and been fine. I agree, it's more about effort and intensity and listening to your body. My days off = no planned activity, but I might take a leisurely walk or bike ride or something like that...but it doesn't get my HR up enough at all to count as exercise, more like "active recovery."

My weeks right now look like this (no more than 1 hour/ 5-6 days per week):

Day1: Cathe Muscle Max
Day2: 20 minutes kettlebells, 20 minutes elliptical HIIT w/10 lb weight vest
Day3: KCM kickbox (30-60 min w/abs)
Day4: off/rest
Day5: P90X core synergistics
Day6: 20 minutes Kettlebells/20 min elliptical or treadmill HIIT w/10 lb weight vest
Day7: No More Trouble zones or rest

Here's an interesting article on why doing more won't always get you the body you want: http://figureathlete.tmuscle.com/free_online_article/training/the_final_nail_in_the_cardio_coffin

Hi there Melissa! Well, for the jist of it for me, I workout 5 to 6 days a week and the days I get off, I really TAKE them off. no cardio, no weights!;)

Usually those days I do chores and run errands so I'm not so cramped on the days I do workout.

I don't follow the monthly rotations to a T because I don't have all of the DVD's it calls for. But I pick what I like to use and I include them in a 4 week rotation that I create myself with the DVD's that I have.:)

Really, DON'T feel guilty about taking a day or two off, YOUR BODY NEEDS IT!:D

I'm training for the 3-Day/60 mile walk in and we are starting our back to back weekend walks. Like this weekend is 14 miles on Saturday, 9 on Sunday. I try to get 4 Cathe workouts in, but I'm lucky if I do 3... But they do help with the walking, so I push through. The one or two days that I take off, I really don't do anything but run errands like Alana_as.

It will be over soon, it will be over soon :):p

I am truly afraid to answer this question...

LOL! I know! We all give you such a hard time about how much you do - even when you "tone it down!";)

You are a maniac!!! :) I'm good just getting a solid, intense hour a day in of either cardio or weights. I keep trying to do both, but just can't quite find the time! I'm so not a morning person! :(

So, I do either or and typically more cardio than weights. I'm still afraid to reduce my cardio too much. My body shows it when I do! I workout 6 days a week with one day off for golf, bicycling, going to the beach or just sitting around!

I've worked out 6 days a week for years now. It's such a habit anymore. When an extra rest day is required because of life though, I take it.

I did the rest only as needed (because of life) thing which resulted in very few rest days and my feeling very run-down and eventually getting sick so I quit that pretty quickly.

I also tried working out only 5 days per week with one active rest day (walking or yoga) and one complete rest day. I did this during my CLX rotation and enjoyed it but haven't gotten back to doing it again. One day...

As for what I do each day? That changes like I change my underwear! :D

Currently I am doing a Slim Series rotatation. It's basically set up as a 5 day per week rotation with 2 rest/stretching days. I use one of those days as a cardio only day and usually will run that day. I also sprinkle in 20-30 minute cardios on various days in addition to the SS work outs when I have the time for it and have one complete rest day. I am loving the rotation and the mirror too because of it! I've almost completed week 3 with 3 more weeks to go! :)
