WORKOUT Saturday 07/03

Well I have been walking Rover (yes, he has a name now) about 3K in the morning and about 5K before dinner and an other 3K before bed. Never walked that much myself (bicycle or car for me). I have this toy, a long plastic thingy that can hold a ball at the end. If you swing it, you can throw the ball much further than you can without it. I made plenty use of it the past few days to make Rover run as much as possible when we were out walking.

So I think he's ready now to start running with me. I'll take him on a 4K run this afternoon before dinner(with a walkbreak every 5 minutes). And we'll build up from there. Or would 4K as his first time run be too much you think?

I'll be taking him out for short runs (no more than 3K) at 6AM as a cardio warm up, adding on a 30min Cathe UB workout starting Monday. And try to get some sort of workout schedule going again. For now, P90X is on hold until I can work out for a whole 60minutes again before or after work.

BTW you runners, you think I should keep him on a leash when I'm running or let him run freely. Thing is we'll be crossing one road doing the 4K and running part of the way on a road when we build mileage.

Good morning Dutchie...Rover is a cute name! No, I think 4K would be fine for Rover's first run. I do miss running with my dogs as I haven't in years. Too many people in this neighborhood let their dogs run loose and it can become a huge problem so after one of my dogs got bit I quit running with one...:(...For me personally, I always used a leash, sometime it took a while for them to get used to it but it worked well after that. I did't finish Legs & Back yesterday, so I will today and Ab Ripper , then KenpoX this afternoon....have a great day....:)...Carole

I did the double set premix of Push Pull. I then added on extra sets of heavy dumbbell lifting for biceps, triceps and shoulders. (I usually do my extra upper body lifting during lunch at a gym, but the weight room at my gym is closed for remodelling, so I have to fit the extra lifting in at home). I also added on the ab work from S,J & P (man the bike moves get me every time; someday I'll get through them all!).

Hello everyone

Dutchie, I always use leash. My dog is older and she is very well trained and listens but still I feel that she is safer on the leash. BTW it is a true pain in the neck to run with her -- it takes forever for her to read her daily "pee-mail".

I did P90X Leg and Back this morning -- yesterday I was just way too tired to do it. I also did about 25 min cardio.

Happy Saturday to you guys!

YES we both did it, Rover and I. Our first 5K run (yes, he didn't seem tired at all). I had bought this special leash this morning. The kind you put over one shoulder with Rover running on the other side. It took us both some getting used to. And my left shoulder feels a little stiff now, cause he did pull the first 20min and me pulling back. We both have to learn how to run together.

On the upside: he made me run faster than I usually do. But I was talking to him all the time (good doggie) so I know I wasn't going too fast.

Well we had 4x2min walk breaks and we finished in 37min. Without the walkbreaks I would have run a sub 30min 5K. I have never been that fast. Ofcourse, without the walkbreaks my legs would tire faster and I would never have run a sub 30min anyway :) :)

I think Rover will make me run faster in the end. Thus making me an excellent running partner:) :) I'm so excited that this first run went much better than I thought.

At the end of the run, as a reward I let him run free and he loved it. And a special treat for Rover when we got home.

Can you believe he was put in a dog shelter?

Dutchie:)

Busy day, I did 35 min. on the bike, I might do something else later not sure. I did get my hair cut and took the boys to swimming lessons this morning. Like I said a very busy day!

I am just happy to have gotten in what I got in today!!:D
