Workout room!

I'm so excited. My husband agreed yesterday to turn our small spare room into a workout room instead of a big closet (you know, where you throw everything you don't have another place for).

When we get done throwing stuff out and rearranging, I'll have a wood floor room with shelves on 3 sides of the room. The wall behind me will be clear. We'll get a new tv and dvd player for this room and hang it on the wall or put it on a shelf if that works. I might even get the nice stereo system if the speakers will fit. ;-) I'll get a rug or something to put down so I can do floor work. (I don't like standard workout mats.)

My workout space will be 9 feet by 9 feet. This is pretty big to me as now I only have about 7 feet by 7 feet.

I initiated a conversation last night when I got home. I work out in the living room and after the time changes, my husband gets home before I do most days. We have a very small house and I disturb him when I take 60-75 minutes for my work out. He's pretty much banned to the bedroom or sits cross-legged on the couch. So I have been neglecting my workouts (I'm still on restriction, but can do upper body workouts). I finally said, we've got to do something! So he said, let's turn that room into your workout place!

I'm so excited!! Now for all the work to get that room ready. Not looking forward to that, but the reward is worth working for. :)

Just thought I'd share. Figured ya'll would understand my excitement. :7

WHOO HOOO! That's awesome! Oh, you're going to love it. There's nothing quite like having a space dedicated to your workouts. Now get to work on that room!

That is cool, April! Working out is so much more fun when you have a room devoted to it! I used to workout in the living room too! Hated it!

Oohh, jealous,. jealous I am!:) I would love a room just for workouts where I could go in and shut the door and get in the zone. Right now I wake up pretty early to have the alone time but I am out in the living room and I feel like I need to keep the volume down so as not wake up my 5 little ones prematurely. I do dream of being able to pump up the volume so I can really feel the music. I suppose I could always make my dh sleep on the couch and I could have my room, J/K:) You're going to love it! Enjoy!

Congrats! You're gonna be soooo happy! My life has changed (for the better!) since I got my own space (in the basement, but I'll take it!!) to workout in. Have fun!

I have to laugh because DH said that same thing to me about our 'spare' room last week.....although ours is a true disaster area! It's been the "collect everything you don't want to see out and about" room for 8 years!!! It's so crammed with junk that it will probably take me until next year to clean out, but I'll do it slowly.

Another thing.....I think that it's amusing that your DH mentioned it, that means that it's "okay". If it were you mentioning it, I'm sure that he was balk at the idea....at least that's how most men work;-) ;-) ;-)

It makes it so much easier that this was his idea! I totally agree!

I'm planning to start on the room tonight. I have rubbermaid tubs of junk that I need to go through. I wish I had the guts to just toss it all, but I don't.

I'm sure it will take awhile, but I'll post some pics up when I'm done. Maybe some before, during and after pics. :)

In addition to having a workout haven, it'll be SO nice to have all the junk out of my house! :)

When DH and I bought our house, one of my requirements was that we had to have enough space so that I could have a dedicated workout room. It has made such a difference in the quality and quantity of my workouts. It is almost like a little retreat. You are going to wonder how you ever made do without it!! Congrats and definitely share pictures.
