workout log week of Aug. 25

Oh Maggie church picnics are famous for scary food.....I'm sure you'll be fine, but those hormones can just take over in situations like this!!! I usually don't get that emotional even while pregnant, but this time it's been more than usual. I was watching the Hallmark Sunday night movie many months ago and was in tears during each COMMERCIAL. I should have identified immediately that this was a much different pregnancy!! :7 :7 :7 SIX MORE DAYS!!!!!! Keep those fingers working!!!!

Briee

Okay, Briee--latest details. I saw my ob today. I am at a 3 now which is the largest I've ever been dialated without being in labor. She stripped my membranes to help speed things up a bit (hopefully)--once this worked for me and once it did not. I have felt sort of crampy all day with occasional strong braxton hicks, but that is about it. She thinks that I will go into labor before my next appointment. The sooner the better I say. She also said that he feels like a long baby.

take care everyone
Maggie
due sept 8--4 days and counting:7

Yahoo! Your body's getting all primed up for delivery. How exciting! I'm so excited for you. Yahoo!!! Can't wait to hear more. Yes, even about the bloody mucous plug (never actually saw mine)...

Keep those details coming...FANTASTIC!! I can almost FEEL those labor pains approaching!!!!! My seven year old is turning eight on September 8th so I have a count down going on here at home, I will think of you each time he reminds me that it's four more days until his birthday which is like 100 times a day!!

Briee (I have mixed emotions here...I'm excited and jealous!!)

This is getting exciting Maggie, can't wait to hear how things went! How long have your labors been before? I've heard that they get shorter, is that true?
Melanie, I on accident clicked on your profile, not your message and noticed that you are from Minnesota, wow, me too! I ahve a friend that was mentioining it would be cool to meet some more people that are into Cathe. Not that we ever have to meet, but where are you from? The Twin Cities?
Anyway, Maggie, good luck to you, I can't wait to hear when you finally start going into labor. Then we just have to wait until you get back to hear what it is, a boy or a girl?

Melanie-well, I don't think I have lost the plug, but then again, I only noticed it during pregnancy #3 (and yes it was very gross), but I will be sure and let you know if I see it(I tried to insert a smiley face here, but it isn't working).

Kathy- I am not really sure whether my labors have gotten shorter or not. My first was 5 hours and my second and third might actually have gone on longer except that they broke my water and I went from a 6 to birth in 30 min (#2) and 45 min (#3). Very painful and I wouldn't recommend it. #4 was induced because my blood pressure was rising and I had my first epidural (pure heaven--I will never voluntarily have another natural childbirth) and the whole thing took around 6 hours. Again they broke my water. So I am not really sure what to expect this time. All I know is that I want to get there in time for my epidural. I just don't have the pain tolerance that I used to. Or else since I been there and done that with natural childbirth I know what's coming. I was never able to relax or breath away the intense pain of transition contractions. Oh and I am having a boy, unless the ultrasound was wrong.

Well anyway here I still am. Woke up at 2:15 am last night and could not get back to sleep again. Then I had a friend come over with her kids to visit all day, which kept my mind off my discomfort and irritation at not being in labor, so now I am going to try and sleep. But I think that I will pack my hospital bag first:p . No I have not done it yet. I am not exercising at all because even walking is uncomfortable with all these twingy pains around my cervix.

By the way, Briee, my 6 yr old dd will be 7 in November and I am already being reminded frequently of this fact:) :).

Take care everyone and thanks for the encouragement. There is something therapeutic about writing all of this stuff down.

Kathy, I live in Richmond (a town of 1200) it is about 20 minutes west of St. Cloud. I have yet to meet a fellow Cathe-ite in MN!!!

Maggie, we're all bitting our nails for you. Every time I check the forum I think to myself, "Maybe we won't hear from Maggie today b/c she gave birth today and is relaxing with her perfect bundle nestled up to her breast". Wait, maybe that's my dream. ;) I know, I know, I still have a long ways to go. But your birthing story will help to hold me over. The mucuous pluggie won't bother me a bit--I got to dissect my very own cadaver in college (and I thought it was incredibly cool)!!

I am so looking forward to my epidural. Aren't drugs great? ;)

Okay...you guys quit it with the drug stuff or I might get jealous - ha ha. It took me 5 births to figure out how to have a baby and handle the pain and this may have just been a gift from the Lord, but I'm hoping that he gives it again this time!! :7 :7 :7

Maggie, you won't see your lost plug if they stripped your membranes, they just pulled that baby (the plug I mean) right out. You must have seen some blood after they did that correct (maybe you mentioned this up above)?? They stripped my membranes with the first baby and I had terrible contractions for a day or two (but this was when I was still 3 weeks early), before really going into labor maybe 2 days after being stripped. I remember losing the plug with I think baby number 2 and maybe number 4, but not with number 5. I began loosing all kinds of mucous for about 5 days prior last time with number 5 but none was blood tinged. I'm always amazed at how different pregnancy and births can be.

Any more news Maggie???? What are the ages of your children???

Melanie, my very close cousin lives in a suburb of St. Cloud and I hope to get out there sometime, although I don't know how soon. You guys need to visit Aquajocks water aerobic class sometimes - that would be soooooo much fun - she's near minneapolis I believe.

Hi all,
I am still here and my main problem now is terrible insomnia. I tend toward insomnia even when I am not pregnant, but when I am pregnant, it is really bad. Thursday night I got 3 hours of sleep and was not able to sleep again until about midnight last night. I did sleep fairly well then, but I still feel really groggy today. Also, one of my weird pregnancy symptoms is "hot" feet. My feet are so hot that they feel like they are burning up and the only thing that helps is to have a fan blowing directly on them. This is worse in hot weather and we have been having a hot spell here Oregon (so far from Minnesota:-( )so I have hot swollen feet and it is driving me nuts. Enough whining.

Melanie--interesting you should mention dissection. My almost 7 year old daughter wants to be a missionary nurse and loves to fix up any wound that comes her direction. My husband bought a dissection kit to do with her and on Thurday they did a worm. She was very excited about this. The kit also includes a frog and fetal pig among other things, but no cadavars:p ).

Briee--My kids are 9, 6, 4 1/2, 2, and in utero. (boy, girl, girl, boy, boy). What are the ages of your kids? I did not realize that stripping the membranes got the mucous plug. I have not had any spotting, but I have been having a lot of non bloody mucousy stuff like you mentioned with your fifth.

That's all. Hopefully I'll be in labor tomorrow, but somehow I doubt it, unless it is a real surprise.

Shopoholic--you are right behind me and I want to hear if you are feeling any changes as your due date approaches, pretty please:) .

Take care everyone,
Maggie

Hi Maggie, my children are 13, 10, 7 almost 8, 4, 17 months, and negative 3 1/4 months, boy, girl, boy, boy, girl, and ???, but I'm suspecting a boy, we'll see. When they stripped my membranes with my oldest I went home and saw blood a few hours later and I was so happy I was in tears, then I called the midwife and she said very sorrowfully that it was due to stripping the membranes and all my excitement was for naught - but I did deliver about 2 days later and I was 3 weeks early, so it definitely did something. You are having very good signs with the mucous show, it should be very soon!!! It's ALWAYS harder with the heat. Take some long walks, but also get as much rest as you can - tough when you can't sleep at night, but try to get some naps so you are a little rested up for the birth. It's so easy to preach when you're not in that "dreaded ninth month".

I'm sure IMAX I would get labor started - just a thought, take it or leave it - (I'd personally leave it).

Briee

How about a game of bowling? My mother went into labor that way. I had my membranes stripped with my pregnancy. I didn't notice any changes with it, I was still induced. :( This doesn't mean that YOU will be though.

The dissection kit sounds so cool! What a great opportunity for your little girl. My son likes to collect bugs & frogs. He's very scientific. My husband gets nauseus when he sees blood on t.v. ;)
