WORKOUT Friday 08/06

Dutchie42

Cathlete
Gooood Mooorning,

After the accident yesterday my knees felt very tight, probably because of impact. So I was worried but it was ok this morning.

I did a 6K tempo run in 39:42, which is slightly slower than my fastest 6K ever, at a 10min/mile pace, which for me is very good.

I pretended to be this old fashioned steam train today:D Breathing in I was putting fuel in the engine, the energy would flow thru my body, my arms were those things moving the big wheels and breathing out would cause these whisps of smoke. I focused on the white line on the cycle/foot path it being my rails. As I visualised this big steam engine I really felt I was this big engine moving along having to get to the station in time :) :) At times I totally didn't notice I was running. I almost crossed a road without checking for traffic.

Can you tell I have been reading the Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer by Whitsett/Dolgener/Kole? I have had the book since May and I have read it three times now. It gives many useful tips and visualisation is one of them. I tried before but "failed". I was a big success today though :)

Have a great day you all,

Dutchie

I'm glad your knee is okay after the accident Dutchie! Just take it easy....:)...that book sounds good and seems to be good for you. Reading can be so beneficial. I should practice what I preach..:)...I am doing P90X Back & Legs, AbRipperX and a 4 or 5 mile run depending on my time... Mari, thanks for your thoughts on core foundations, I'll look forward to Core Syner next week..:)...have a great workout ladies...:)...Carole

HI Carole,

You have a big workout planned again. Don't know how you find the time :)

Yes, I think we were very lucky to come away unhurt. We were all quite shaken though. It's my 3rd accident in 4 years. Don't know, maybe someone is telling me not to drive anymore??? And it were all men who caused the accidents. And then they say women can't drive:-(

I absolutely love that book. It follows a training course that was given at the Iowa university. And the chapters are the actual classes they gave. It also incorporates comments and insights from the students that followed the marathon class. I read the book twice in it's entirety. It covers everything from physical and mental preparation to nutrition and hydration. Ofcourse I'm not training for a marathon, yet :), but I do use the chapters week by week and try to incorporate all the info they give as I'm getting closer to my race.

BTW I've already set my 2005 race goals: a 1/2 marathon early May and the Almere 30. They're both local races. The Almere 30 is a 30K race which is always held in September. Thought it was a nice step up, don't you think?

Hi Dutchie, glad that you are feeling better and ok from the accident.

I think I have found the cause of all my "sicknesses" it is the Vioxx that I am taking for my PF. Side effects are diaherrea, bloating (stomach distention), stomach discomfort, water retention, weight gain(probably due to the water retention I am hoping) and menstral problems and others but these are the ones I am experiencing. So pray that is all it is, I am doing ok today and have been off the vioxx for what is now 3 days. I hope the weight starts to come back off again.:)

I did PS Triceps, Biceps and abs today (mixture of workouts of course)and did a premix off of Kick, Punch and Crunch minus the abs with the stretch.:D

Have a great day!!:7

Annette- Glad to hear you are beginning to feel better - I hope it is the Vioxx so you will be 100% soon. Keep us posted.

Dutchie,
Talking about driving, I have to tell you this story. I just talked to my grandma who is 89 and still drives:eek: Anyway, she told me that a flying snake flew over the hood of her car. I tried telling her that was impossible. Then I found out later that a local farmer brought her cane back to her house after he found it on the highway! So much for the flying snake theory!:)

My husband has decided that he wants to start working out and he is quite athletic but doesn't do any strength training. He said he wanted to try a short ab workout so we started to do the ab section of ME. Needless to say, I am the only one who finished. HeeHee - my abs are stronger, my abs are stronger!:p Not that I would ever rub that in ;)

Anyway, today I did Bootcamp for the first time - WOW! What a great workout. Hoping to do the Pyramids tomorrow or MIC. I'll let you know.

Wendy

Wendy....yes...rub it in...:)....I have tried to get my DH to workout with me to no avail..:(...see WE are stronger...Isn't Bootcamp awesome!!

Annette, that is awful about the Vioxx creating your discomfort. I hope you feel better soon..:)

Dutchie, I am self-employed and usually have alot of time in the morning for my workouts..I am lucky or blessed depending on how you look at it!...:)...your schedule sounds good for next year. I am doing a 20 mile trail run Labor Day amd might just do the local marathon on Jan 1st instead of Malibu in Dec. Then I want to do a 50K next March that I signed up for 2 years ago but got a nasty flu so I had to miss it...:(..everyones workouts sound good...:)...Carole

Hello ladies

It is so nice to read about your running plans you runners! Dutchie, I have a very extensive marathon training library, but the book you're talking about I don't have. I'm sure you'll do great. It sounds like a very sensible plan, not rushing too much.

Carole, I'm self employed too -- great to have those mornings for myself. But this week I'm still so busy, and next week doesn't look much better either. I have to catch up with the vacation...

Wendy, you do all the good stuff, I love BC, and probably will do it tomorrow!

Annette, those strong medicines have so many side effects. I try to stay away from them, get better soon, girl!:)

Today I did Gauntlet. It is not my favorite, but I wanted to do something different. I prefer the Viper. Oh well...

Mari
