Workout Fri 8-13

Good morning ladies....the fire is up to 7500 acres and has hit 67 homes...:(...it is still about 12 miles away and 50% contained and hopefully will not burn this way. Unfortunately some people have lost their homes twice...5 years ago and now.

Wendy as far as my diet goes I changed it in a major way in May. I went vegetarian and lost the weight I had gained in the last 2-3 years. I even lost 4 lbs after I got to my goal which was truly amazing. Mari, Dutchie and I started P90x about the same time. Mari made us buy it...:D It is more of a series of Gym style workouts that are intense and different from Cathe. I have gotten great results doing it along with my diet change.

So...today I am running 5 miles ( I did a tempo run Wed, Josie). Also doing P90X Legs & Back. Enjoy your workouts...:)...Carole

Carole, I will definitely be praying for you and all those around you. Take care of yourself. Also, where do I get info on P90X - do they have a website?

With regards to clean eating - I am very proud of myself I did really well yesterday! Hopefully today will go just as well!

This morning I actually went running for the first time in a Very Long Time! I only went about 2 miles and them walked for another 1 1/2 miles. While I was running, it really helped to think of all you runners who kept keep me motivated to go a bit further. I know its not very far but you have to start somewhere. I was also amazed at how much the Cathe workouts helped - I felt so strong and my heart rate recovered very quickly!:)

Also, I know this is kind of a personal question but for those of you with children here it goes... My husband and I have been married for 6 years (I'm 28 and he's 31) and we really want kids but we keep freaking out when its that time;-) We have a great marriage and its almost like we are scared of changing it. Did this happen to anyone else?

Talk to you all soon, Wendy

Wendy the site is www.beachbody.com then click on the link for P90X. Your running sounds good...yes, you need to start somewhere...just go slow..:)...its funny you mentioned the kid thing. I am 45 and kept putting it off myself. My husband didn't mind either way so we have no children. And I know I am way too old now...:)....Carole

I ran my eight miles last night and today is my rest day. I will be doing a double spin class tomorrow and on Sunday I will be runnig 12 miles. Carole, are you still training for the Malibu Marathon?

Hi all,

I did PS Back, Biceps and Abs this morning/afternoon my workout kept getting interrupted with phone calls.x( Dh and I going back to Las Vegas in Sept. and my parents are watching the boys so we have to make the arrangements so he kept calling.:D Plus we are going to the beach 2 weeks before going to Vegas. Sept. will be a busy busy month for us.

And of course the hotel where the class dh will be taking and the place we will be staying doesn't have workout facilities so I will have to do some water exercises in the pool. Hummm maybe I need to talk to the other Annette (Aquajock) about that one.;-)

Anyway have a great day!!:7

Hi all,

Didn't do a workout. I rolled out of bed and buried myself in my text books and like I said before, when I focus on studying, I have problems working out. Because, I'm at my best early mornings. I can focus better, I study better, my attention span is way better, I workout better. AND the kids are still in bed.... it's quite in the house.

I need to find a way to combine the two.

I tried working out first, then I tried working out as a long break after a two hour study period. But when I'm with my head in my subject, I just don't want to stop for more than 30 minutes (which is usually lunch).

Anybody got any ideas?

Dutchie

Dutchie,
Sometimes I used to ride a stationary bicycle while studying - That way I got in some study time and some exercise at the same time. Also, once in a while if I was getting sleepy while studying I would do a quick 10 min workout just to revive myself then back to the books.

Other times, I was exactly the same way - I didn't want to "break my stride" to workout, so I didn't. Don't be hard on yourself - there are times when studying just has to be Number One on your To Do List.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. Good luck:)

Hello ladies

Dutchie, maybe pm workouts? I prefer am but when worse come to worst I don't mind pm.

Annette. may be it's time that you start running!:) You certainly can run in Las Vegas.
Carole, have you ever run the Las Vegas marathon? I did in 2001, very fast course. Scary, that the fire is actually only "running distance" from you.

Wendy, we started somewhat late with kids (I'm 47 and my kids are 13 and 16 now) but never ever regretted having them -- not for a second. Truly, my life did change A LOT after kids. but we were ready. I would've made a horrible mother had I had my kids very early. Now I really enjoy being a mother and love spending time with my kids. I also have to add that my husband is a great guy and a wonderful father, and that makes things a lot easier too.
There is never a "perfect time" to start a family, you always have to sacrify something. But you guys are still very young. Best of luck to you.:)

Ok, exercise.. I rowed for 20 min this morning, after that I did only Legs from P90X Back & Leg, after that I did the Plyometrics, the whole nine yards. My legs are definitely toasts.....

Just wanted to add... I had an evening movie-cardio session with my son -- finished watching the movie we started last time. It is just so much fun! He ran, I biked for 40 min.

Good night, everyone!
