workout DVDs (other than Cathe)

I have a lot of Cathe DVDs and need to expand my collection outside her world.

I like a challenge, and love circuits, step and kickboxing. Suggestions? Is Jari Love challenging? How is Amy Bento?

thanks for the help!

I think Amy is the closest to Cathe in that she offers a variety of formats, and some of them are in the same genres as Cathe's (heavy weights, step, hi-lo, kickbox, etc.) but her twist on each is very different. You might enjoy hers for that reason. She's a great instructor but the reason I passed is that her workouts can be complex and I do prefer straight-up gym style.

Amy is great. Her cardio is even more intense than Cathe, if you can believe it.

Tracey Staehle's Strike Zone is an awesome KB w/o. A little too short for my taste, but I always tack on another 15 minutes of something else at the end. I only have Cathe's circuits, but I hear Tracey's & Amy's are pretty good too.

For step, she has Advanced Step Challenge (ASC) 1, 2 & 3. I don't have 1 (too short), I love #2 (took me about 6 mos. to learn), I have #3 but I'm thinking another 6 mos. at least for that one. :p

I really love Amy's Rumble DVD. Some folks don't, but I think it's those without a heavy bag. Honestly I'm not crazy about her other KB workouts, they're too hi/lo & not enough KB for me, plus the impact is about as high as you can get. That said, if you like hi/lo too Amy's pretty much the go-to girl. ;)

I think any of the Advanced Step Challenge series would be great if you enjoy complex, energetic step.

A-Team Bootcamp is a good circuit. Her Cardio Pump workouts were also circuit-like if I remember correctly. Maybe the cardio was first then resistance training. Not sure.

I did like All Pump Xtreme the best out of her strength workouts. It's really long but there's a lot of premixes that make it a great value. I think Hi-Lo Xtreme had some premixes that combined cardio with weights from APX.

I did not try all of her kickboxing workouts, so I'm not sure what to recommend here.

I too decided to expand my collection of workouts DVDs. But I have to admit it's hard to get used to another instructor when you're used to Cathe!

I got Amy Bento's ASC2 but I found that it was hard to learn: her cuing is not very good and she often goes into a complex move without any breakdown. It will take a while to learn it. From was I understand, once you know the steps, it is a fun workout. (there was a recent thread on this workout recently in the Open Discussion forum if you want to check it out - sorry, I don't know how to insert a link without losing what I wrote!)

I got 3 other workouts from onther instructors:
- Seasun Zieger Rock stedy step. Did it once. It's not too hard to learn. I liked it.
- Athletic step jam by Sharon Twombly. Did it twice. It's easy to learn and the intensity is OK.
- High intensity step mix by Tracey Steahle. Did it once. I think it's the most intense of the 4 I got. There are some blasts in it.

I like the Tracey Staehle and Amy Bento suggestions.

I am going to add a name to the list - Kelly Coffey Meyer.

The complexity of her choreo is manageable. For weights, she makes workouts that are not hi-weight but still advanced. Circuits is where she shines. Her weight training also has a circuit feel. Lots of fun, fresh moves, never a moment wasted style with the best low impact modifiers.
