working out with an injury

I have severe tendonitis in my wrist, and recently had a cortisone shot. My husband says I should take a full week off from weight training, my doctor had no comment, and I'm anxious to get back to weight training. I feel like I'm using this as an excuse not to exercise.
What do you think?

Did you specifically ask your doctor about weight training? No comment is SOOOO unusual for a doctor when it comes to strenuous exercise & injuries. If you did not ask specifically, I would make a phone call to him before continuing. Tendonitis may be aggrevated by weight lifting, so it may be advisable to lay off for a few weeks. On the other hand, your doctor may feel that your tendonitis is not severe enough to cause worry & may advise you to work to your pain threshold.

Good luck & I hope you are feeling better soon.

Just curious, was the weight lifting the cause of the tendonitis? If not, then I understand the no comment from the dr. If yes, then its probably best to rest. -j
