Hi, I don't know if your question was for Cathe, but I suggest you post on the open forum so you can get more responses. I hope you don't mind if I jump in with a response. DHT stands for dihydrotestosterone which is a by product of testosterone (the male hormone). Testosterone is converted to DHT and when people have hair follicles that are sensitive to DHT the follicles begin to shrink and hair becomes thinner and eventually hair in that follicle falls out. DHT sensitivity can be hereditary so if hair loss runs in your family you have to be aware that it might happen to you as well. Your hair can also fall out due to a medical condition or certain medications you might be taking. I've never heard about people losing their hair because they are working out, but testosterone production increases with working out so it might be possible. There are several products you can buy without a prescription to block DHT (they're called DHT blockers) like Rogaine or Nioxin follicle booster which I use once a day (Nioxin is sold at beauty salons), but you should see a dermatologist as soon as possible if you're really concerned about this. Your hair might be falling out due to DHT but it can fall out for many other reasons and a doctor is the best person to determine this. Good luck! I am a woman with thinning hair and it is very frustrating (in my case is hereditary). I hope you find something that works and remember to start with a regimen as soon as possible.
