Hey guys!

I got my first MP3 player today! Yay! I'm having so much fun downloading music. Quick question. I am using Windows Media Player to "sync" my music to my player. My question has to do with where the music is coming from. I registered on "urge" which has a direct tab right on Windows media player. Apparently I get two weeks of "free downloads". Am I breaking the law? It seems just too good to be true. All my favorite songs for free...?

Sally,

I think you are registered with a legitimate service after looking them up on the web. No worries! They are associated with Microsoft and others. Enjoy!

I may be wrong but the 2 week free downloads might mean that you can download and use those tracks for 2 weeks but after 2 weeks you have to start paying for the service. If you don't buy the monthly subscription then those tracks you downloaded won't be usable in your player any more. You're essentially 'renting' the music, not owning it. I buy my music outright (usually .99 a track at many online services). You might want to check the fine print to see what 'free' means.

I love my mp3 player. Once it went missing in my house for a time (until I found it buried in the couch cushion LOL). Workouts just weren't the same without it. I use it mostly for running on the treadmill.

Some services do the only good for two weeks thing. Others let you download the tracks and keep them for good, basically they write of the fee as advertisement.

You haven't broke any laws yet.

Now about those tags you tore off the pillows....
