Will I need a stability ball for BodyBlast?

Bebop

Cathlete
Do I need to get one or can I modify? I don't have the stability ball and was hoping I could get away without one for a while.

Thanks. If I need one please let me know and I'll make sure I have one time for the DVD's.

Thanks.

I think you probably do need one. YOu can modify, but I can tell you it is great to have the extra ball challenge. I'm doing push/pull this week and it adds to the challenge and core work. Wal-Mart carries a ball for about $12 and so does Target.

YES, You NEED one!!!! Not really, but just like Gibbee said...it truly does add challenge to the routine. Cathe uses the ball a lot in this series too so it would be a great addition if you can pick one up. Or, hold off, try the workouts and see what you think. You can always pick one up the next couple of days. Enjoy your DVD's!

Thanks - I was afraid of that. I'll take your suggestion - I'll try it without and then I'll see if I can get one - I have a storage problem right now - I just about have room for the rebounder...but I'm sure I can clean out some junk in the basement and make room for a ball. I know my son would love it - I'm short - I'll have to find one for my size. Oh - the fitness toys never end.:)

Can someone tell me what size stability ball I should buy? I'm 5'1", also are some brands better than others, and if so, which ones?

Thanks!

I'm almost 5'1" and I purchased a size small Gaiam balance ball from Target for the Intensity series. The small is 55 cm (22") and states it is for people 5'0" to 5'5". However, now I'm not sure if I need to buy a new one for the Blast series since I read somewhere that we should have a "burst resistant" ball and I don't think the one I have is. Does anyone know??

Thanks

JJ

Stacy, buy a stablility ball that is 55 cm. or 21" in diameter because of your height. Make sure to get burst resistant quality. The tricky part is when you fill it with air. You have to keep measuring until it reaches the right size, or else it is difficult to tell when you are done. I filled mine with my bike pump, but if you don't have one, you may need to buy the pump as a separate item.

I got mine at fitness1st, but there are LOTS of other places!

Hope this helps.

Hi - I recently replaced my softer Thera-Ball with a 55cm Original Thera-Band fitness ball available at www.fwonline.com (I'm 5'5" - there's a chart on their site to help you determine which size is best).

I almost bought the slow deflate (burst-resistant) version but I live nearby their warehouse and was able to compare the two and opted for the Original. The slow deflate was really hard. The Original is medium hard. If I had the burst resistant, I believe it might've been way too uncomfortable for prone moves. Whatever brand you decide on, I'd recommend you can compare the burst resistent to the original just for comfort sake. FW also can tell you the weight limits on the slow deflate vs the original. I can't remember offhand what they were but I was comfortable with the Original's specs.

I'm waiting for my Body Blast DVDs so I haven't yet used it for that but I've gotten a lot better results in my stability ball training overall using the Thera Band ball vs my older one, including mastering those gosh darn pikes!

Hi Bebop. You will be able to substitute your bench on an incline for some of the stability work. Also, when Cathe does the bicep work on the stability ball, you can do concentration curls.

Abs will be the only exercises that will be harder to substitute.

i got a burst resistent ball from dicks sporting goods, 19.99 on sale from 24.99 and i LOVE it..it came with a chart for the wall an a dvd.
