Why more time on the upper body than the lower body?

Can anyone answer this for me? It seems like all strength workouts spend alot more time on the upper body than the lower. But the lower body has bigger muscles (I hope I am right, I am no expert so forgive me). Why is this? Thank you!

Just because the muscles are bigger doesn't mean you have to work them longer. The size of the muscle doesn't really have anything to do with how many sets/reps you should do. And since most lower body exercises work several muscle groups at once (ie, squats, lunges), you don't have to do a bazillion different exercises to effectively work the lower body.

Emily...I agree with you. Also, in my opinion we work our legs a lot more than we do our arms during most cardio workouts...especially Step. Our legs are getting a constant workout, more so than our arms. Have a great day!!!:) I'm off to do Body Max...no muscle goes unworked on that one..haha
