Why is this so difficult?

I have been working out doing step classes in the gym for 15 years and I recently purchased Cathes step works and circut max tapes. I was so confused with the steps! Did anyone else ever have this problem and how did you learn them? I was so discouraged when I tried them for the first time!

I absolutely love the Maximum intensity tape, but I need my cardio tape and thought these would be great...I am sure they will, but is there a tape out there that introduces you to cathes style a little slower, but still with some intensity? Please help!

I would recommend starting out with the Wedding tape, Step Jam or Step Max. They're easier, but not easy, and still pretty intense.

I agree with Pamela. Please don't get discouraged or give up. I have two left feet, and if I had started with StepWorks, I would have been discouraged, too. The Wedding Video is a great one to start with. I began with that one and PowerMax. The first two sections of PM are intense but straightforward...it took me a couple tries to get section three down. But now I can do all (ok, most) of Cathe's choreography on all the tapes I have, and I love it!

I used to like Gin Miller's Step Reebok tapes, because there was no tricky choreography, but that got boring quickly. Once you get Cathe's moves down, you won't believe how quickly the workout seems to go. You'll see the sames moves in a lot of Cathe's videos, put together in different ways. So once you get the hang of things, you'll be all set.

Good luck!

Hi,

I understand how you feel. I have had some degree of difficulty getting the steps to all of Cathe's videos. The wedding video was the easiest (choreography wise) to catch on to the steps. (Although it did take me a couple of times to get the "ricochet step" down pat). Most people will tell you that the wedding video and Mega Step Blast are great introductions to Cathe. I also found Step Jam only slighter more difficult than the wedding video. I believe you might have chose a couple of the more difficult videos to start out with (choreography wise).

Believe me, I have felt like crying before when trying a new step video. It can be very frustrating, but please keep trying. Could you afford to order one of the easier videos and learn it and then attempt Step Works at a later date?

Good luck to you and let us know how it goes.

Thank you so much for your support. Actually, I was so determined today that I sat and did this tape(Step works) for about 2 1/2 hours...stopping and rewinding it. I think that I will be ready to tackle it one time through tomorrow...It was pretty confusing! I know that I will really like it once I get it down too. I will order the other tapes as well. Its still cheaper than joining another Gym...with three kids the childcare is killing me!

Thanks again! At least I know that I'm not loosing it! I'll get it!

Hi Veronica,

I thank you for your support. I will look into Power Max. I used to do Gin millers tapes too, but I got bored really fast with them. If you have any other suggestions of good tapes that keep your interest and are fun please let me know. I think I will get the Step Works down soon...I stoped it and started it so much today I have to remember somthing by tomorrow! Hopefully I'll get a real workout then!

Thanks again,
Steph

Steph - I did my first Cathe tape last fall and have been hooked ever since. Before, I had been afraid to try her tapes because Collage described the choreography as complex. My first tape was Step Heat. It wasn't that difficult, although section three was tough for me at first. After I mastered that one, I started working my way through Cathe's catalogue chronologically, reasoning that her choreography probably gets tougher as the years pass. I'm up to Power Max now, and I feel like I can master Step Fit, Step Works, and the others without too much trouble (I confess that I've gone out of order and done Max Intensity Cardio, Body Max, and Cardio Kicks--had no problems, either). My advice is to be persistent and you will catch on. Preview the tape, learn it in sections, and listen closely to Cathe's instructions. If you don't catch on at first, do basics and watch the move. Eventually, you'll get it. Believe it or not, I own ALL of her videos now, including all the strength tapes. Have fun. Suzanna

Thanks so much!
Here we are a week later and I think I have got it! I want a new tape already....! Maybe you can suggest some others that are a great workout! I love tha Maximum Intensity Tape, but I think I have started out with a body bar that is too light...now I have to invest in a heavier one! They can get somewhat pricey too! I would like something that does a little more upper body and abs, the ones I have seem to focus so much on lower body. I would love any suggestions that you can offer!
Thanks again for your encouragement!
