Exhibit A

Deleted....I originally pasted an example of what is being said but decided I should not do it. Just go to videofitness.com if you want to know what is being said about this site.
Apparently I am part of a cult by coming here but I never realized it!! LOL!!!

RE: Exhibit A

This is the only site I try to visit every day. I am thankful Cathe hasn't started charging for her site....I would be lost or poorer, probably poorer. I always get chills up my spine when people come on here and just get nasty. I remember the one about the things Cathe saying really ticking someone off. Sometimes things can be "typed" in such friendlier manner on her forum. I agree, if you are in someones home, try to at least be polite.

I just enjoy reading all the sound advice given here....so supportive.

Great note Trevor...Hope Cathe reads this.

RE: Exhibit A

I think we need a few more "exhibits", Trevor. :) My "Jerry Springer" comment is famous - LOL!!!

RE: Exhibit A

You know, by doing a forum search on when Cathe is just about to release a new video. there is a 'bash Cathe' thread that carries over to other websites. Coincidence? Maybe. But nonetheless,it detracts from the happiness Cathe has from her new workouts and now this time the added joy of FitTv.

I'm continually amazed that Cathe is willing to do all that she does for us. She already produces the best workout videos out there, and in doing that shares her knowledge with all of us complete strangers and allows us to benefit from her knowledge and access to the latest fitness information. I know we pay for it, but I still think it's tremendous that she produces such high-quality workouts and asks for our opinions on what we'd like to see before she produces them! That in itself would be more than enough. To add to that this incredible place that allows us to communicate with her directly and further benefit from her knowledge, not to mention communicate with each other and learn so much from each other as well, is just amazing. As someone said, this is a woman with a family and a life who takes the time to do so much for us. Call me a fan all you want; I think Cathe's tremendous, and I can't express adequately how much I appreciate what she does for us!

RE: Exhibit A

Personally, the Zombie comment is my favorite...:p

Whatever. I love my workouts and I love lurking around here, so much good advice.

Carry on Zombies!!!:7

You must be quite the Jerry Springer fan, you seem to be very familar with his show! LOL

I've said what I needed to in the other thread. Have a nice day! I'm going to go see what's been posted re: JS now. *S*

Debbie, if they ban you, they'll have to ban me too. :)

I have to admit, this is my escape place. When work gets very stressful, I check in here and feel a bit better for a few minutes before I have to go back to the nasty "real" world. My work is interesting and challenging, and the clients are fine. It's the partners who are nuts! I've come to the conclusion that well-adjusted self-aware people, which seems to include most women, just don't become partners in law firms for whatever reason. This "Zombie Forum" is a great place to come for a dose of sanity and introspection.

Here I go again, off to the insane asylum I call "the office" where the REAL Zombies live! :-(

EDITED BY KATHY S. TO DELETE INFLAMMATORY, ILL-ADVISED RANT. :)

I'd like to chime in with my two cents' worth here too, even though this thread's nearly run its course, because this has been on my mind and bugging me.

Trevor, I agree with you completely. I've been a lurker and occasional poster at VF for a very long time and I've been a regular poster here for an equally long time (though you might not know it from my total number of posts -- I suppose I read more than I write, and certainly can't keep up with my dear pal Debbie H. and you 1000 and 2000-post legends! :)) In my opinion each site serves a distinct and very useful purpose, but each is quite different from the other. As so many others have said here, Cathe's site has never pretended to be, nor should it try to be, a completely unbiased site; this is Catheland and there's no reason why this should be otherwise. Here you undoubtedly get more passionate vocal support for Cathe because the membership is much more single-minded in its preference for Cathe over other instructors.

I have always had a problem with the often-repeated opinion at VF that Cathe's site is full of blindly loyal cultists who flame onto anyone with a differing or critical opinion of Cathe's work or SNM. That charge has always mystified me. And frankly, I'm tired of seeing it revived every so often at VF (typically by someone who comes here to enjoy Cathe's forums and then goes over to VF to complain.) I believe I've read nearly every post ever written here since 1996 and I've NEVER felt that this membership won't tolerate constructive criticism of Cathe's business or Cathe's products. Are we a mean-spirited, close-minded bunch of exclusionists who won't welcome your opinion here unless you believe Cathe and crew are perfect? I sure don't think so. That isn't anywhere close to a definition of me or any of 100 or more regular posters who I could name who are the long-time backbone of this place. We like and admire Cathe (the person AND her tapes) for legitimate reason but we don't believe she or her work is perfect. I could "search" and point to dozens of threads over the years wherein we've critiqued and bantered with each other about what we like and don't like in the newest round of Cathe tapes. Cathe can't please even every loyal fan every time.

So I don't think we've earned that particularly snipy criticism that we so often get at VF, and here's what especially ticks me off: I never see the reverse happen. Have any of you EVER seen a thread here at Cathe.com which was written for the sole purpose of complaining about the VF forum or its membership?

Over at VF in the most recent Catheites-critical thread, founder Wendy Niemi Kremer (a great figure in the annals of video fitness as well as a very cool woman all in all, IMHO :)) felt compelled to post not once but TWICE to ask her members to stop criticizing and judging other fitness sites and forums. Wendy was right to do that, but the fact that she had to do so deeply disappoints me, as a supporter (financial and otherwise) of VF.

Please do NOT respond to THIS post by flaming VF, you guys -- that is NOT my point here, and you'll defeat my point if you do that.

VF and Cathe.com are communities with much in common (including a lot of overlap in membership). VFers, come on over and voice any opinion you want to here, and you'll find this to be a group who strives to be civil and constructive (taking our lead from Cathe). We are a growing community but will remain dedicated to those principles of discussion, and we are intolerant of only a few things: rudeness, unkindness, and destructively critical comments. Post those kinds of comments here and you'll feel this community politely ask you to close the door on your way out.

(Added by Kathy S.: There, much better -- this is truly how I still feel, folks, but I hope I've removed the b*tchy attitude. :))

>Kathy, what a class act! I would have used the more common expression, "Don't let the door hit you in.....on the way out." ;-) But that's because I have no class. Alexis:p

Kathy S. and all,
First the easiest thing for me to ask is that you read my response about VF and Cathe.com on the deleting post thread in the Ask Cathe section - I believe its post #40. It was a loooong post (and very reconciling, civil post) and I hate to repeat it or my fingers will fall off LOL
In a nutshell, I'm a member at both sites, like both sites and see both sites have a different purpose. The thread at VF in question had a FEW people who "took it there" - certainly NOT the whole membership. It was handled perfected by WWWendy and it ceased immediately. And lets look at this thread to see that some are "taking it there" with VF. I think that both sites are the proverbial pot calling the kettle black at this point. There was error by *some* post'ers on both sites but it certainly doesn't mean that the entire forum of both sites are defined by those few posts.

I am really sad, Kathy S., that you did this very thing even though you frequent both sites and "fingerwagged" the entire VF community. I think I'm pretty representive of the community as a whole and I adore Cathe, have never had a customer service issue or complaint about anything AND have pre-ordered everything she puts out. To be lumped in with the "smug and holier than thou" comment isn't fair. On the flip, I wouldn't join into to any Cathe bashing if it came up on ANY site because I am a fan.

On another note, just something to think about. On every dvd or video, there is a comment about joining in on this very website. Not everyone who comes here is savvy to the forum rules and protocol I imagine that if I got a bad dvd and was a new customer, the first thing I'd do would be to log on to this website and try to address it. Maybe later, I'd know better. Sometimes people really do, innocently assume that this is a good place to ask. The forum is titled Ask Cathe - I can see making that connection. Maybe there should be a customer service or Ask SNM forum. Only those with issues need enter and no one would need to read it unless they wanted to.

So as I asked on my earlier post - "can't we all just get along" and please remember that there are hundreds and thousands of INDIVIDUALS on these forums. Neither forum deserves to be desribed as anything based on a few people.
Over and out!
Karen :)

Kathy, I would like to clarify one thing: "The way Mindi's original posts (here and at VF) triggered this whole discussion." The way your post reads, it intimates that I am the original poster at VF of less than kind Cathe threads, which is not in the least bit true.

I did not begin the thread there, nor did I begin the controversy here, but I did respond to what I felt was an incorrect, harsh and tactless reaction to a simple question. I still feel that way.
