Why is Imax always so hard?

I've always found that the more I do a workout, the easier it would get; as in my body would get stronger and make the workout seem easier to perform. I've been doing an Interval Max workout (1,2, or 3)for about 2 years now at least once a week, and they are always just as difficult for me as when I started. Granted, when I first started I couldn't even do the whole thing and now I can, but it still feels as hard as ever to get through it. I wonder if they will ever seem any easier? Am I the only one that feels this way or is this a common perception with these workouts?

Thanks,
Doreen

Maybe its just that they are so challenging, they are always going to be tough. If they felt easier, you wouldn't be getting much of a workout. And you are definitely improving if you can do the whole thing now vs. not being able to get through it. Keep on truckin'!!!

I find that the ONLY time the IMAXes get easier is when I incorporate running in the form of HIIT into my workout schedule... Otherwise, they don't get any easier. But, at least you can get through the whole thing and that's what counts as far as I'm concerned.

Nope, the Imaxes NEVER get easier for me either. 2 and 3 are the absolute hardest. I did Imax 1 a few days ago and loved, loved, loved it! I had a blast. But for some reason Imax 2 and 3 are puke-worthy for me. I did Imax 2 this morning and was dyin' by the end!

Thanks for the replies, it's good to know that I'm not the only one who finds these workouts so hard! For me, the original Imax is the hardest - those plyo jacks take so much out of me - but 2 and 3 are very close behind along w/MIC which also never seems to get any easier. It is true though that it's awesome to always be able to get such a challenge w/o having to buy new workouts!

I am literally huffing and puffing through them If I can't take it I walk in place (Sometimes a lot of walking going on) I hate when my kids or hubby come in the room when I am doing that because they say "Cathe's not doing that"

We need to give Cathe an Award for Sweat Queen do they have such an award. I wonder what a hard workout is for her does she ever get winded and have to walk in place? Could you just imagine that picture.

I also think she is the only instructor that works through a workout ever notice some of them walk around throughout the entire workout showing and pointing moves out. Or how about the same faces I love seeing the same faces I think I am going to miss Cedies smiling face through most of this series. I wonder how many of these instructors have tried Cathes workouts do you think they have?

My burgers are burning GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOINNNNNNGGGGG

The great thing about the IMaxes is that with the blasts, you literally get out of them what you put into them. So as you get stronger, you go harder, and the moves become no easier. I love the IMaxes!

Hey, Allison!
I did Imax 2 too, today! Very tough, but the time flies by, and I get a great runners high afterwards from this one. Some days it seems like its getting easier, but today was not the case!!!! It seemed especially "puke-worthy" this morning for me as well

This is so odd because I was wondering about the Imax(s) this morning. I own all three; however for me, the original Imax is more difficult for me. I often wonder why.

I did Imax 3 today. I love that one, but Imax 2 is my very favorite. I am doing all 3 imax's this week in a slow attempt at suicide by exercise! However hard they are I think they fly so fast. I hate MIC I have done it exactly 5 times and then I sold it. I really dreaded that work out and always felt afterwards like dying. when I do Imax I feel great! But there are some days that kick your butt more than others!

That's what originally got me hooked. She does the whole, hard thing. Not looking fresh and cute and TELLING me what I should be doing and how good it feels, but DOING the workout and admitting that it's tough, but fun, too. WORK!!!!! The others are like going to a mechanic who tells you whats wrong with your car, then expects you to fix it. I want my mechanic to fix it!!

There are two types of 'I'm gonna die' for me when I do IMAXes. The first is my quads feel like they are going to lock up on some of the blasts - they get worked so hard! The second is the anaerobic aspect - after a few of the blasts I actually see stars.
