I am about 10lbs over MY ideal weight. I have found doing intense cardio(mainly running), for a period of 1 to 2 mons. will bring me close to the size I want to be, and then I can crosstrain to define my muscles and "fine tune" my physique. This was also true of me 15 yrs ago. I have tried to crosstrain (using cardio and weights and cathe's tapes, of course.) for several months(6) and don't seem to see the same results. Am I not crosstraining hard enough? I find I can really train hard when I do just the cardio, however when I crosstrain using weights, I have to be careful with intensity or I burn out with my workouts. I almost always work out in the early morning(I should be doing that now!!), and I don't eat anything before (well, sometimes a cookie, or a...donut)but it doesn't make a difference when I'm doing intense cardio. I actually feel better NOT eating anything (other than the forementioned non-food). My question is what am I doing wrong with crosstraining that is making it not as effective? Splitting up workouts to different times of the day is out of the question. (I suppose if I HAD TO, I would work it out somehow.) Or does it just take much longer when you crosstrain? (I thought it should take less time.) Thanks!!!
