;) I was so heartbroken when one of my favs JPL John Peter Lewis was voted off last week! He wasn't the best, but I admired his style! I am afraid either Diana Digarmo or John Stephens may be the next! Just my opinion! I am cheering for Fantasia and George Huff to go all the way! It will be interesting to see the contestants sing Barry Manilow! What do you think will happen???

John Stephens needs to go. The poor boy just doesn't have enough charisma. He doesn't charis me at all.

I was sad to see JPL go too. I thought he had a groovy funk on!

I vote for Fantasia and George Huff too. She is amazing and he just oozes star quality. It doesn't hurt that he is such a sweetie pie. They both are!

I think this is the best group on Idol yet.

I was so disappointed to see JPL go too. There was just something about him that reminded me of my brother Joey I lost to cancer a few years ago. He reminded me of a young Joey! I love John Stevens and think it is just his age that keeps him so quiet. He is very shy but I see him opening up! He is ONLY 16 years old! I think he has an awesome voice. George and Jasmine are two of my favs although I think Fantasia will win it all. then, there is Latoya who is great too. Oooh, I don't know. It is a hard decision! Lisa, great to see you here.

Sorry I don't think JPL has what it takes......... and neither does John Stephens........... In my own opinion of course, the ones I like in this order is La Toya, George, an Fantasia........ Rhonda

I love John Stevens but I know he will not make it to the top. Being realistic, I think that Loyota and George are both outstanding but I think Fantasia will win it all.

George Huff or Jennifer Hudson!! I'm rooting for George or Jennifer Hudson. She's a Chicagoan too!! "Hudson vs. Houston and WINS!"

:)

I agree with Rhonda on this one. I think that LaToya, George and Fantasia have fantastic talent. Jennifer is good too, it's going to be very hard to pick when it comes down to the final 3 or 4 depending on whos left. I really hope that LaToya, George and Fantasia are the final three. I normally don't vote, but I may start just to try to get those three in the final three.

I though it was time for one of the John's to go last week. JPL is just too goofy (which I usually like in a person) to be an American Idol (and his weird "dancing" was getting annoying). Amy (with the pink hair) was better than him and got booted. I like John Stevens, but his genre is very limited: if they had an "ode to Bing Crosby" or "Best hits of Dean Martin" week, he'd do great. Frankly, I'm surprised that both of them lasted this long. I think it might be like last year, when a not-as-good singer (the army guy who got to 4th place, but when he finally left, the last 3 sounded so much better when they sang together!) got pretty far along just for sentimental (and in that case displaced patriotic) reasons.

Right now, I think Fantasia is the top contender. But some of the others could use the pressure to up their game.

I definitely think this year's AI will be African American.

You mean we can vote off the judges???? WOO HOO!!!

Carol
:D

P.S. I really like Jennifer Hudson, George Huff, and Fantasia. La Toya knocks my socks off too. If those four made it to the top, I'd be happy!! I thought JPL was a complete joke. Sorry ... just my humble opinion. I couldn't get up there and sing in front of a live audience, but if you're voting based on pure talent, he wasn't any different than someone you'd see hamming it up at a party somewhere. Boring and geeky. John Stephens I believe could be really good if he had some power behind his voice. Same with Diana and Jasmine. They run out of steam toward the end and that's why they can't always hit the notes. They're young and they have time.

Hi DebHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

:D It's great to be here when I get the chance. I can't visit the forums as often as I would like to with my new job. I try to check in every evening though. I wish I could say the same for working out! I just can't seem to get in the groove anymore! I am sure my time will come again! Maybe by the time the new DVD's come out! What do you think??? I am a true Cathe diehard and can't stay away for too long! Deb are you going to go on the roadtrip? I hope so!!!

RE: Hi DebHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Hey Lisa! I was a JPL fan too! I dunno, maybe I just liked his quirkiness?? Is that a word?? I am a HUGE Dave Matthews fan and I think if Dave can do his little funky feet thing...so can JPL. Oh well....my second fav is Fantasia...I have really liked her sweetness and presence.

Just watched it. Based on their performances, I think the bottom 3 this week should be (but may not be because of sentiment):
George Huff (who should get the boot this week)
Diana Digarmo
John Stevens (though I liked him better this week because he seemed to have his own voice rather than sounding like a Bing Crosby imitator)

You know it's funny but I actually think John did a good job this week - LOL! That's a tough song to pull off, especially considering how popular and overdone it was. I agree with you Kathryn that he had his "own" sound this week for the perhaps the first time. I didn't like the song George did, but they all have off weeks. I thought Diana and Jasmine both sounded much stronger this week. And of course Fantasia is always great! Her daughter is adorable!! It was an "AWWWWW!!" moment when they brought her onstage! My favs tonight though were Jennifer and LaToya!

Margie I will admit at first she seemed quite a bit full of herself and kind of cocky, but as the weeks have gone by I think she's just young, but very confident for her age. She seems to have a great support network of family and friends, and I believe earlier on she was the one who showed a clip of her mom as a minister in church? It seems like she was raised in a very supportive environment, and by people who encourage her to pursue her dreams. I think at times that comes off as conceit in her. She has a very unusual voice, IMHO, and I think she has amazing presence already. She looks like she's been performing all her life, and seems totally at ease on stage. It's shaping up to be a very interesting competition between the ladies! Their voices are so powerful! George and John are out-numbered - LOL! I can't wait to see who gets voted off tonight. As you can see, I'm sort of hooked on this show - LOL!

Hi, Carol--I think you might have liked the song George did if he had sung the melody instead of trying to do all those riffs. The judges were right to complain about this, and even Manilow said he had warned him to let the song do most of the work. For this reason, I think George or John should go this week. John is simply NOT an American idol. He's a nice kid with a smooth voice, but no style. I like all of the women left, and had a hard time voting. I decided to vote for Fantasia, although I really liked Jasmine this week, and LaToya is both beautiful and always does an outstanding performance.

Hi Lisa! Coming in on this thread a tad late but saw American Idol last night w/all of them singing Barry Manilow's songs. Oh boy that John Stevens has to go big time! He can't sing to save his life even if he is a nice guy. IMO its gotta be Lotoya HANDS DOWN!!!! She's not only beautiful but has a voice to match & can't be beat!!! She's the one I'm rooting for.
