Who uses insoles? Any recommendations?

I bought a pair of crosstrainers on Sunday, but I always buy a pair of insoles for extra cushioning. With my previous pair of shoes I used Dr. Scholl's Advantage Sport insoles, but I think they don't make them anymore. I've seen sport insoles from $15 to a whole lot more than that. I probably wouldn't pay more than $30 for a pair of insoles because I have to replace them every 6 months or so. I went to drscholls.com and saw this http://drscholls.com/product.aspx?prodid=82 I don't know the price yet and I don't know if they would work, but at the moment is the only option I have. What insoles do you use?

I use prescritpion orthotics. For a while I wanted to try a softer insole so I tried over the counter types you describe and low and behold, Plantar fasciitis returned to haunt me.

If you have no foot pain over the counter ones are fine. If you have any pain at all. See a podiatrist and get a professional opinion. Many people are fine with over the counter insoles. I am not.

Ditto to all that. I don't go anywhere without my orthotics.

I have been using superfeet insoles for quite some time now: http://www.superfeet.com.

However, my chiropractor told me yesterday that I need to seriously consider the custom orthotics now. I 'm going to get them eventually, but it will probably have to wait until after the holidays.
