Hi Kariev,
I only do cardio about twice a week right now and sometimes only once. Now, my goal has always been to do 3 cardio sessions per week but I almost never make it!x( I've been keeping a detailed workout log for about 3 years so it's really easy for me to go back and check my actually frequency of workouts. This is usually a big, sometimes disappointing, eye opener
I started increasing the strength training and decreasing the cardio in May of 2007 and I saw a difference pretty quickly. I have been experimenting with different types of weight workouts and rotations and it seems that I do best with a couple of full body workouts per week with a weight somewhere between medium and heavy and a couple of really fun, steady state type cardio sessions.
I do HIIT too, but contrary to the current thinking on cardio and fat loss, I seem to see better progress (weight control wise) with steady state like running, walking, and stuff like Rythmic Step!!! Also, I don't see great results with compound moves or circuit workouts. So I save those for "fun" days. I do love the HIIT for actually increasing my cardio endurance though
I did do the PS series with the weights 3X a week and two days of cardio. A few of those weeks only had one cardio day
I saw good results from this too. Definitely slimmed down! Lost about a half of pant size without changing my diet at all.
The real reason the full body workouts work better for me is that when I break up all the body parts throughout the week there is a greater likelihood that something is going to get left out for that week!x(
Well, anyway, that's my story, I'm still experimenting and have started a whole new rotation which still includes a total of 6 days per week. But I am seriously considering going to just 5 days a week and alternating between 3- strenth, 2 - cardio and 2-strenght, 3 - cardio!
So what do you find works for you? What kinds of workouts do you like best?
Sorry this is such a long post!!!
Kerry
