Who else turns to sweets when stressed?

I am trying hard to recognize my "triggers" when it comes to turning to the sweets. With me, it is when someone gets my ire up, or when I'm just plain stressed out. Today my DD, whose sick at home from school with a cold, started making me crazy about something, and I went right for the bowl of homemade chocolate chip cookies. After breaking off a piece, I came over to the computer and posted this, hoping to "decompress" and divert my attention. I can't believe how much eating can be connected to your emotional state of mind.

I have a terrible sweet tooth! I used sweets to celebrate or relieve boredom; just about anything could trigger diving into the cookie jar or worse yet, making cookies and just eating the dough! I'm better now because I tell myself, "eat it tomorrow." Then tomorrow comes and I say the same thing to myself. Or I say, "I'd like to eat this, but just don't eat it this time." It seems to help. Now, I don't have the sugar cravings like I used to. In fact, too much sugar makes me feel yucky. Now, just one cookie or just one bite of something usually takes care of the urge.

Oh yeah! DH came home on Friday and told me a commission had fallen through and I immediately did a face plant into a plate of Christmas cookies.

Me me me! Actually I just turn to food when I'm stressed. Doesn't matter if it's sweet, salty, or just tastes like plain cardboard.

The upside is usually when I'm stressed it's b/c I'm working a lot so I don't have much time to eat.

A vicious, unhealthy circle. :(

Unfortunately, I turn to sweets for several reasons. I am trying hard not to. I've had to lose the same last 6 lbs. for 4 years b/c of my desire for baked goods, in particular, when I am feeling stressed. I am trying to say to myself "what do I want more, to be fit and healthy or this cookie, etc." It works most of the time. It's not foolproof, but it helps.
