Whitening your teeth?

Do you have any favorite home stuff to whiten your teeth at home? Thanks!

The best stuff I've ever used is gel that I ordered from eBay! But this was a refill from an old kit that I've had for years.

I've had trays made already from the dentist's office for my upper bridge. For the lower bridge, the eBay kit came with a "wax" type substance to make your own "tray" and it works just fine. I leave the gel on for 15 minutes, and I'm all set.

If you've never whitened before, you'll need a couple of days of usage to get the full effect.

I personally don't like any of the strips that are offered in the stores. I find that they're hard to keep on, and that I drool off most of the peroxide while trying to keep them in place. I prefer fitted trays that hold the gel on your teeth for as long as it's needed.

I used to work for a dental office for 6 years. If you want immediate results and have money to burn go to a dental office for a zoom in office whitening procedure. This can cost anywhere from $200-$500 and should come with a take home bleaching kit that is made from taking a mold of your teeth. Now this all comes with a warning. It is NOT always successful so any dentist that promises you a whiter brighter smile is lying. Make them put it in writing that if you are not happy you don't pay. A lot of how your teeth handle any sort of whitening agent is based on the composition of your teeth and what you eat. Are you a coffee drinker? Wine drinker? Things like tomato sauce stain teeth. Smoker, . . . well 9 times outta ten you are outta luck. If your teeth are sensitive beware any sort of office or strong grade whitening gel. It WILL hurt! I've seen people leave the office screaming and with a bottle of vicodin to ease the pain. The best more affordable answer. Drink soda and coffee through a straw. Minimize wine drinking and if you do drink wine or eat a food that can stain teeth wash your mouth out with water or brush if you can. Listerine and Crest make a whitening mouth rinse it works but takes a while before you see the effects. If you want brighter whiter teeth all the time the one and only sure answer veneers and be prepared to pay a pretty penny, . .usually $1,000 a tooth and you would more than likely have to do top and bottom. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Macska,

I use the trays made for my teeth and Nite White 22% and my teeth are Chiclet white! The molds cost about $200 and I order the bleach for about $20 on Amazon.

HTH!

Ps...I only do a whitening twice a year.

I would recommend using a Philips Sonicare toothbrush. I am a coffee drinker and used to feel the need to bleach my teeth every few months. I started using a Sonicare toothbrush 1 1/2 years ago and now my teeth stay white! Also make sure to see a dental hygienist for regular cleanings. When I did bleach my teeth, I used a kit from Walmart with plastic trays that you heat and mold to your teeth and a gel with Carbamide Peroxide. The kit cost was under $10 and was called BioDent. I got good results, but my teeth would be sensitive for a couple of days after bleaching, plus I always wondered if the bleaching was damaging my teeth.
