Which DVD is Best for a Beginner?

Hi Cathe:

History: I use to be totally into fitness and exercise. Alas, I have been out of the habit for approximately 5 years (although I did use the firm for 3 months religiously about 2 years ago - just didn't see enough results for 6x/week) and need desperately to get back into shape (overweight, 35-40 lbs., 5' 10" and high cholesterol).

When I used to work out I used free weights to shape and sculpt muscles with aerobics mixed in to help heart and keep weight off. I am not too keen on just step aerobics (would probably quit after a few weeks - don't want to waste money). I know I have to establish a habit of working out to begin to enjoy it once again.

Which DVD(s) would you recommend to get me started based upon the above information?

Thanx.

It is not a easy question. Cathe has few cardio workouts without step. For example you have 35 minutes of hi/low in MIC but it is very tought if you are overweight. I have been overweight two years ago and I can imagine me at that time doing the hi/low of MIC.Now I am fit and i have to make modifications in the most intense moves. You have KPC in the BB series a wonderful kickboxing workout with a fun music. I recommend to you start with the BB than the Intensity series. You have the 30 minutes of kickbox CTX.You have to try the step of cathe. It is awesome. If you want weight training I love ME for endurance and the pyramids for strenght.Cathe has lot of workouts to choose. You can not go wrong whatever you choose.Hope this help.

Hi, Mush! (love the screen name)

Given your history (i.e. you're getting back into the swing of things rather than being a total beginner to exercise), I'd like to suggest Cathe's latest offerings:

Basic Step + Body Fusion DVD
High Step Circuit for Beginner / Intermediate DVD)
High Step Training Advanced (GOAL DVD)

and also:

The TimeSaver DVD

Cathe certainly is the Step Queen, but the Timesaver DVD is a good mix of step, hi/lo and kickbox cardio with targeted strength segments. The Basic Step etc. and High Step Circuit DVD's are oriented to those who don't have a solid, recent history of consistent exercise and are a good Intro To Cathe.

Once you've gotten on board with those, you'll get a better sense of the other Cathe productions you'd like.

HTH -
