Hi. I am new to Cathe and have none of her videos yet. Which ONE would be a good one to start out with? I have some Firm videos. I want to reduce and firm up hips/thighs/glutes but don't want to neglect my upper body. Are her tapes available anywhere retail or only online?? Thanks.

Welcome!

Hi, PMFan. Hope you'll enjoy this forum!
Ok, the usual answer to this question is How to Get in Shape for Your Wedding. There are a few clips of Cathe's wedding in it, but other than that its just a regular workout tape! There are two advantages to starting out with this tape as an intro to Cathe. 1. The choreography in the step portion is not as complex as most of her stuff, thus a great way to learn her style.
2. The tape has two sections: a step workout broken up into warmup, secton 1 of step and section 2 of step; PLUS a total body "muscle conditioning" portion that uses dumbells.

This would be appropriate for you if you want both cardio and weights. HOWEVER, from your post it seems that you want to concentrate on firming your muscles. In this case, I would suggest Maximum Intensity Strength (MIS). Cathe works legs, shoulders, chest, biceps, back, triceps, and abs in this one. She uses a barbell and dumbells, but you can use just dumbells until you work up to her strength level. That's what I did, and it worked just fine. It is about an hour long, and it'll really get you good!

Hope these suggestions help!

RE: Welcome!

I definitely agree about MIS. It kicked my booty! You can break the tape up into segments, or just lighten the weights. I used the FIRM for years, but honestly, they didn't prepare me for Cathe tapes. I went nuts recently and bought the DVDs and six of the videos. That was the best workout investment I've made!

Hey, welcome to the club O Cathe-ites! If you're used to workouts as challenging as the Firms, I'll bet you'd LOVE LOVE LOVE Bodymax. The layout is:

an awesome warmup/stretch
a high intensity and really fun step segment (about 30 mins)
step circuits (alternating between stepping and weights for legs)
upper body weight training
abs
cool down/stretch

Altogether it's about 90 minutes total and gives you everything, top to bottom. But it also breaks down into shorter workouts really well. I've done the warmup, fast forwarded to the circuits and then just done a few upper body parts, I've done the first stepping segment followed by some upper body and abs...and on days I want to really kick my own butt I do it all. Even changing the order around makes it fun and seem totally new. Once I did the Upper body stuff first, then did the cardio and circuits. It was like a new workout. So it's really versatile and gives you cardio, interval training for your heart and great upper body toning if you want to do it all.

You'd probably love it; the moves are easy to get but fun to do, the music is terrific and it really will have you smiling while you sweat.

But you can't go wrong with any Cathe purchase, so don't worry. Whatever you pick will give you terrific results and a fun time working out.

Take care and welcome!
