whey protein shakes

I use them but I can't say what kind of results I'm having because of them. In whole I'm happy with my progress and I do feel that the shakes contribute, but mostly because it is easily digestible protein delivered at the right time and enough protein throughout the day, plus the right kind of lifting. Know what I mean? All together, it works well!

It's hard to ignore all the articles and expert advice about getting the right amount and kind of protein and at the right times for muscle recovery. I'm not all hard core about my diet, but I make sure to have a protein shake after most workouts, but especially after doing weights. I've also been reading that carbs are important as well to consume post weights, so I generally blend the shake with frozen fruit or use skim milk instead of water.

I can say that even my husband noted the definition in my arms, so maybe it has something to do with the shakes.

i've read a great deal of "digestible"protein and that it should follow your workouts w/ carbs to resore muscle quickly. i really hate getting out the blender and then having to clean it:)
but if it helps, i will.

Have you seen the Magic Bullet? I got mine at Costco for $50, I think. Very convenient!

When I added whey protein shakes, I noticed the following things: significantly reduced DOMS, noticeable gains in strength, and better definition. But in addition to the whey, I increased my protein intake generally (to 1 or 1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight), and added BCAAs before and after my workouts. So that might've helped, too.

I drink a protein shake every morning, first thing, before I walk the dog and before my workout...easy to digest, helps me not loose steam in my workouts and I use it to add additional nutrients to my diet. (protein, Bee pollen, Udo's Fish Oil and Wheat germ. I also add fruit.)

It's my first 'meal' of the day. Takes less than 5 minutes to make and clean up -

I've been doing this for 6 months or more...it's perfect for me. For me to have a good intense workout I need solid, clean nutrition. I'm several sizes leaner and I've been more consistently strong with my program...

I've found protein shakes (and clean diet, overall) key (ESSENTIAL) piece of the puzzle.

I love my protein shake and Magic Bullet. I recommend both. :)

As for results, I can't say if my protein shake has dramatically affected them because I started everything ~ exercise, eating better, increasing protein ~ all at once. I feel darn good though.

I couldn't LIVE without my protein shakes!

I have one first thing in the morning.. and in the evening.. on heavy training days I have one post workout and one right before bed.

They are absorbed, not digested, so they're great for right after workout and first thing in the morning after the nighttime fast.

I went 10 days without (I was so broke last month I couldn't afford it lol).. I had the hardest time making my protein requirements (didn't half the time).

Most Whey proteins have BCAA's in them which are good for protein synthesis and (if you're cutting or losing weight) helps you to maintain existing muscle.

Its recommended that you get your lean BW in protein to maintain muscle - particularily if you are trying to lose weight and on a caloric deficit.

I love the protein shakes and I couldn't live without them :)

If you're trying to gain muscle, you can't be without a quality Whey shake :)
