We'll be having our 4th Annual NYE party just for kids. It's a big slumber party. DS has six of his friends to spend the night. DD has three, since she's much younger. We shoot fireworks, drink hot cocoa, have party hats and horns and bring in the New Year. After that we have a quick midnight breakfast and it's off to bed. Well...for dh and me. I think the kids stay up all night. They absolutely love it and can hardly wait each year. I'm hoping they'll continue to want to do this when they are teens, so it will keep them out of trouble.
Dh and i have two couples that we have been friends with for years over every year and we cook a bug dinner and drink heavily all evening. we never turn on the tv and we shoot fireworks. this year, my friend's fiance is proposing at midnight, but she doesn't know it! it's going to be so exciting!!! champagne, dogs, food and best friends....what can be better than that? they always stay the night and we get up on New Years Day and have a huge brunch. i am gaining weight just thinking about it!!!
That sounds like so much fun!! we have a few couples we have been friends with for years and have spent most of our new years celebrating similarly with.
WE've all gone different ways now, and we are the only ones with kids. So i usually make a "buffet" of appetizers and goodies for the family. Rent a few movies (kid friendly), and we eat and celebrate that way. The kids fall asleep at 10, and me and dh at 12:01 LOL.
I'm so happy to see that I'm not the only "homebody" on NYE... I just don't like to be out on the road that night.
I will be celebrating with my fiance, probably with a bottle of wine and some homemade calzones. It will be just the two of us ringing in 2005, the year in which we'll be married! My most favorite times are when it's just us the two of us and my two cats (soon to be 2 cats + 2 dogs)!
