Where To Start?

Hi,

I'm new here and have done a few of Cathe's workouts on TV. I workout with Billy's Boot Camp, The Firm, Power 90X (from Beach Body), Turbo Jam, and Pilates. I get bored very easily with my workouts so I have to switch them out all the time. My workouts have been inconsistent for about a year because of things that have been out of my control. I'm finally settled and I'm not seeing the results I want with these workouts anymore. I'm 5'4" and I weigh about 115. I am starting to get flabby and I can lose weight and get too thin if I don't watch it without a good weight program. My legs and butt are slowly turning into something I'm not fond of.:)
Could any of you give me some suggestions where to start. All of her videos can be overwhelming. I don't know if I need intermediate or advanced. I don't have a barbell or a long step. My step is the Firm's. I can go out and get these things if needed. I do like Kickboxing, and I need some great leg workouts (well probably all-over workouts).:) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks So Much!

Hi Mom2fourboys,

Welcome to the forums! Once you get started with Cathe's workouts on DVD, you'll definitely be hooked! :)

If you like kickboxing, you might want to try Kick, Punch, and Crunch (KPC) and/or Kick Max. I like them both, but I know that a lot of the forum members actually prefer KPC, which is a bit older than KM, but still a great workout.

If you're looking for just one weights DVD, I'd say to go for Muscle Max. It's a great all-over workout, and even hits your abs. If you can spend a little more, though, the Gym Style series (GS) might be a good investment. It's a three-DVD series that also hits all of the muscle groups. I did the leg DVD this morning, and I'm still feeling it.

Butts and Guts is another great leg workout. You'd also definitely get results with that one.

If you're looking for circuit routines, Cathe also has some great ones, but you would need a full-length step for those.

Hope this helps!

I think its important to get the barbell if you can afford it. Its used in so many of the workouts and it adds variety. If you aren't super fond of stepping, you don't really need a long step. I think you can do some of the exercise that use the long step (chest press, etc., flies, pullovers) on the floor. Its better with the step, especially if she has you on an incline, but I don't think its neccessary. A few of my favorites are muscle endurance, leaner legs and butts & guts. I think these all get your heart rate up nicely without doing a step routine. If you enjoy step, get it because Cathe has such fun routines.

Sonja.

Thanks! All those sound great! I can't wait to get started. Having a few to choose from sure makes it alot easier. I'm gonna order them soon.

Thanks for the suggestions! I think I will get the barbell. I really like all kinds of workouts so maybe I'll give some of her steps a try. She has so many to choose from, it makes it a little overwhelming. I think I'll narrow it down to 3 videos at first and then go from there. I have a feeling I'm going to get hooked.

Thanks So Much!

Yes,

But there are so many that it takes a long time. I think I've narrowed it down to: Kick Max, Butts and Guts, and Muscle Max. Then I might do the Gym Series later. It's great to have a bunch to choose from so that you don't get bored.

Thanks!

I have heard that. Why do you like it better? I thought if I get the Kick Max and the Butts and Guts I would get the ab workout. I know KPC has abs with it.

Thanks,

Olivia

I'm with Catherine and prefer KPC too. It's more fun, more effective. It comes with Legs and Glutes which is also good. There are some very good premixes on this DVD. and it includes ab work.

The combos in KM are much lower in intensity and fun factor so you don't really sweat. The KM blast is super high impact and not really kickbox-y. KPC has fun, intense KB combinations, and the drills are more easily modified for those of us with tender knees.
The KPC ab work is short, intense and effective. I always have DOMS afterwards. B&G rocks for LB and abs, but L&G is very good for LB work. Your legs will be fried with either workout. Honestly, once you start with Cathe workouts, you'll just keep buying 'til you have them all. She's unbelievable!

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.
