Just wondering where everybody keeps there recipes. Im currently keeping mine in a 3-ring folder.

Im a cheapskate so I will check out recipe books from the library and then type the recipes that I like on word and then print them out at the library (another trip to the library)and all of this takes weeks x( im finding it to be too much work!

Is there a easier way that i just haven't thought of?

TIA:)

I do a 3 ring binder also.. but I bought the plastic covers to keep them clean instead of punching holes in the paper. I don't type them unless its from a cookbook but most recipes I find online and can copy/paste to word or just print out from a recipe site like foodnetwork or allrecipes.com. I have a huge folder full and I seperated them into sections to make it easier to find what I'm looking for. I also save the word files incase the printed one gets dirty so I can reprint. works for me. Jess

Like Jess, I also save my recipes in a word document. I have a recipe folder on my computer that's divided into sections just like a cookbook would be. If you have a laptop you don't even need to print them off. Many of the recipe sites like www.foodtv.com and www.epicurious.com let you register for free and you can save recipes right on their websites.

All my recipes are printed but are in a pile. I do have a binder for the recipes and keep promising myself that I will put it together. I just have not had any time yet.

I would love to hear what sections you have?

Debbie

I photo copy recipes and punch holes in the copy. I keep them all in a 3 ring binder. No way I'd ever re-type them in word. I'm way too lazy for that.

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

Evily, thanks for posting the link to Shop'NCook. It looks AWESOME and I must have it -- lol! Which program did you get? I'm debating between the "Home" and "Menu" programs.

Right now my sections are breakfast, lucnh, dinner & snacks. But im thinking that I need some sub-sections because im stacking up alot of recipes!? Especially in Dinner. I may add some sections in there like mexican, chinese, soups, or chicken,beef,pork,fish...not sure yet!

I like the idea of buyng the clear 3-ring sheets. I also scan alot of the recipes and then take the flashdrive to the library! Thats a little easier! Ink is just soooo expensive,id rather pay the library to print it!

Right now I have the tosca reno eat clean cookbook with over 150 recipes in it ...this book will take me awhile!

I've got a jam cupboard full of cookbooks, magazines and clippings. I love sitting down in front of it to peruse and plan special meals. It's not super organized and sometimes I get a bit frazzled looking for 'that' particular recipe but my 'organized chaos' of a system has worked for me for almost 20 years now.
I'm amazed to say that most of my 'recipes' are kept in my head now. I go weeks without looking up recipes and can even do some baking without having to refer to one. I used to marvel that my MIL could do that. I guess it comes with age and experience;)

Laurie:)

Another one here with a 3 ring binder and page protectors.

I'll print recipes out and try them, or cut them out of my Cooking Light or any other mag that comes my way.

This keeps me from hanging on to the magazines and then having to go through each one to find the recipe.

Always trying to de-clutter!

I keep mine on a 3 ring binder with page protectors although I'm trying to move them to the computer.

I've also been saving workout and workout tips in a 3 ring binder. I've been working out with a friend 2 days a week and I've been writing up most of the workouts. I type up the ones we like, print them out and put them in my binder for further use.

I use MasterCook.

It's really great and you can import recipes from the web and search by various ingredients or cuisines.

I can't stand having all that paper around so if I find something in a magazine that is intriguing I just find it on the web and import it. No more clutter!!!

Just a hint for those who keep magazines like Cooking Light. Usually they have a recipe index somewhere in them (at the back, mostly). I take out that page and staple it to the front of the magazine so you can easily see if the recipe you're looking for is in that particular issue (and what page it's on!).

You guys are WAY more organized than me. I print them out and stack the papers on top of my refrigerator. I don't even have a binder for them. It's just a pile of papers that is in no way sorted or organized. I tend to cook simple meals and if I can't find something, I just look online for a quick memory jogger of basic ingredients. I rarely follow a recipe exactly anyway, so I tend to use them more as a guide.
