I read about all of this awesome stuff on this forum - bread without flour, barbells, skin care products, etc. Do most of you guys buy these things on line? Thanks!!!

I live in Chapel Hill NC, and we just have enough interesting non-traditional stores around here that it's easy to find odd stuff. If you live in Middle America, with nothing but Walmart and Target, you probably have to rely on the web more.

I agree with mogambo. I live near san francisco and we are blessed with all kinds of health food stores, fitness-oriented stores etc. If you aren't in an area like that, you can always search online. There are lots of cool websites that offer health food

I love Minnesota - Prince, The Timberwolves, Josh Hartnett...but my house is sandwiched between a K-Mart and a Wal-Mart. I guess the closest I am getting to health food is the reduced fat pork rinds located in the snack aisle of either of the above mentioned stores. Thanks for the replies!!!

I'd be doing a lot of mail order then. Really. When I lived in Nevada, I got together with a group of women and made wholesale orders, we'd buy 25 lb bags of brown rice, kidney beans, etc. I refuse to eat crap no matter where I live!!

If you are looking for interesting food grocery stores
You could try -
Whole foods market - Several locations
or the Wedge in uptown

Many fine bakeries around town and awesome Vegetarian places. All I need to say is uptown Mpls or for Ethnic markets St. Paul.

Also Byerlys carries quiet the extensive organic foods selection. I almost never have to go to whole foods now that Byerly's has gone organic.

Sports equipment well Galyans is great, Oshmans super store in the mall of america is good and one of my favorites for buying used weights play it again sports. Oh and I almost forgot REI for great outdoor equipment. Sportmart is okay but not the best. I won't even start to get into all the awesome little running stores in town or my favorite bike store by lake Calhoun.

We do have extremely cool places to shop in MN you just need to get beyond your corner Walmart, Target, Cub or Rainbow foods. I guess it all depends on where you live. I live fairly close to Mpls. and work in St. Paul so I can get around to places. If you live someplace like Elk River (not that, that is bad - used just as an example) you are fairly far away from stuff I am describing and are looking at a 45 min to 1 hour drive to many of the places I mentioned.

Thanks for all of the awesome info!!! I have never even heard of the wedge - what a loser, huh!?! I will have to venture into uptown this weekend. As for Byerly's, I worked there for 11 years and cannot stand that place - had a huge falling out with management - but I can put aside my differences and maybe stop in at night when none of my nemesises are afoot! Thanks again! P.S. Your post is too coincidental - I went to Play It Again Sports for the first time last night and bought some plate weights!

Oh my husband is the same way! And he weighs about 160! I said honey, did you eat ALL of the ice cream? And he said, "Yeah, but it was reduced sugar." It was a half gallon! Unbelievable.

Well my husband bought a weight bench and a barbell from 2nd Wind yesteday and got a great deal on it! I went shopping myself and got flax seed, rye flakes (to make oatmeal with!), and some high fiber bread. Do you know if they sell that Ezekial bread w/o flour anywhere in MN? Thanks again, I appreciate it so much and the part of my body that needs to keep my glycemic index in check thanks you too!

And while you're there, try to stay away from the Dancing Deer chocolate tangerine cookies or molasses clove cookies :) They put samples of them out and once you try one, it's all over.

P.S. You'll be shocked at some of the prices at WF. We call it "Whole Paycheck" LOL. The Ezekiel bread isn't bad, though.
