Where do you buy your DRESSES??

I have another wedding coming up, but I hate spending alot of money on dresses bc you only wear them a handful of times - - any places that have great sales, really cute fits, nothing to expensive?
 
If you have a Lord & Taylor, check it out because they're having really big sales now. Bloomingdale's also has a pretty big dress selection, but their stuff is usually more expensive, but I think they're having sales now, too.
 
I can't buy dresses unless I plan on spending a fortune on tailoring--shoulders too broad, hips too narrow--I can't really wear anything but a wrap dress.

That said, for special occasions I usually go to Ann Taylor. They're prices are reasonable, their styles are classic & they're easy to have altered.
 
April Cornell has pretty, romantic looking dresses with a vintage feel. You can find them on ebay for a reasonable price if you don't have any of their stores in your area. I have good luck with vintage clothing (2nd hand). They usually fit me better. You could also look into skirts with blouses if you have trouble finding a dress with a good fit.
 
Mandee's has some cute stuff if you don't mind the younger looking styles. I bought my dress for this past NY's eve at Joyce Leslie. I've also found a few things at Kohls in the past.
 
So frustrating!!! I just tried to order four different dresses from Lord and Taylor and each dress I wanted, they were sold out of or not available in stock! Isn't that weird??

I live in Omaha and most of my dress choices are limited - Omaha just doesn't have the best selection of stores for that - or if they do, I have not found them yet - just moved here in August 2006....

Keep the suggestions coming - I am doing online browsing
 
Have you tried Nordstrom.com? They have a great overnight shipping deal, along with the best customer service ever!
 
So I finally got my order done through Lord and Taylor -found a cute dress for 42.99 looks like they have super reasonable dresses and super super expensive ones! Crazy how that works - -

Its simple brown strapless with kind of a wrapped fitted waistline - i have brown copper metallic heels, and some funky red ones, and a couple other pairs that will go with it :) I love love shoes, they are never a problem for me to buy or find for that matter!

Thanks - I have never heard of Lord and Taylor before - I live in Omaha, and we don't have one....
